Chapter 2 - Chapter 1:

"Noah wake up it's your awakening day." Ella said, "I'm up, I'm up" Noah jumped out of bed, he had slept through his alarm. Luckily he had an amazing little sister, she could be a little brat sometimes but she was all he had left. Their parents died in the beast swarm that attacked the city several years ago. Ella was three when it happened so she doesn't remember much of their parents. He could still remember their dad's words, "we are training in case the worse happens. You will need to be prepared to take care of your sister." He couldn't tell her that it was her parents that adopted him, gave him a home, gave him love that he didn't get from his actual parent's that it was them who taught him not to give up. He remained to be her older brother taking care of her in this dangerous world. Ella was sweet and he couldn't picture, the small blond with bright green eyes slaying monsters if anything she would be like their mother a great healer. 'She would save lives, not take them.' Noah thought.

After the swarm of beast that had taken their parents, many others had died and there was no one that could or wanted to adopt. It was a day that the city still remembered it was a dark day. Due to his parents sacrifice, the government stepped in giving Noah and his sister a place to stay and money to live off of until he graduated. When that happens he would have to support his sister as her guardian. Because he had been up late doing odd jobs for neighbors to make a little extra money, he was likely to be late for the awakening ceremony. Noah was hopping for a good class so he could give his sister the support she needed. Without a good class he was looking at a hard life, he would barely be able to scrape by. He started changing clothes, putting on gear that the school gave to new students, it wasn't anything extravagant just some light weight leather armor to protect student's from the F-rank gates until they could afford something better. He ran past the kitchen grabbing a banana, "in a rush sis i will see you later tonight." Noah rushed through the front door running down the street to get to the school's private dungeon.

Student's had been gathered around a gate getting in line in alphabetical order, a teacher checking his watch for the time, 'time to start' he thought as he sighed to himself another year in this run down city. its hard to progress ones class if they don't fight stronger beast. He needed the money to move to a higher class city, all the teachers had the same provocative to leave but they needed the money. Seeing that his co-workers were all E-rank like him, he knew he couldn't stay in this F-rank city. He Coughed to get the student's attention, that had been waiting patiently for him. "Let's get a roll call then we will assign everyone into their team for today. Since we have such a large group we will be doing teams of two. It shouldn't be too dangerous but if something does occur inside the dungeon all the teachers are on stand by to help and keep everyone safe." After that he started going through the students one by one calling their name.

Noah ran he was late and he knew he couldn't miss this opportunity, without having a class item he needed to enter a gate and kill a monster inside to awaken. If he missed this awakening ceremony he would be screwed. "Noah Price! Noah Price! Is there a Noah Price here?" the teacher looking over the crowed to see if the student was there. "Here... haaa.... sorry Mr. Storm" Noah said puffing for air, he was soaked in sweat as he got into line. Mr. Storm looked at the student with a disappointing look, 'If the student thinks this is okay we will have to teach him tardiness is not okay.'

"Alright everyone find a partner for the dungeon dive."

Noah looked as the students started chatting, finding their friends that they had planed to go through the dungeon with. He was trying to find someone to partner with, not many of the students liked to be seen with Noah thinking that it tainted their reputation. It was a dark and miserable place for kids like him. But he had one friend, one he could always count on, Izzy was his childhood friend no mater what happened she was always their for him. She always stuck her neck out when others had bullied him.

As Noah walked around he spotted her, she was chatting with another person. Anna her best friend, it looked like she already had a partner. Noah turned around and started walking back. Izzy looked over "Noah!" she yelled but the chattering of students was too loud, "It looks like we will have to be partners" Anna said with a slight grin knowing her planned had worked.

Mr. Smith watched as they got into groups waiting for them to realize that there was a odd number of students. He wanted to see how they approached this problem. The odd student out was in fact was Noah. "Mr. Storm it seems I don't have a partner." Noah called out as he stood alone the other student's scoffing at him. Mr. Storm seeing this as a opportunity to teach this tardy student. "Well if you weren't tardy you would have time to find a partner. You will have to go alone." He knew the student wouldn't be in any real danger inside the dungeon, but Noah didn't know that. Mr. Smith frowned at the teacher but allowed things to go on to see the outcome. Noah nodded his head wile clenching his hand into a fist. It was always like this as a orphan they all looked down on him. Some even beat him knowing he didn't have any parents to protect him.

"Everyone come up in order and grab a broch, then slowly go through the dungeon gate." Mr. Storm yelled.

Noah waited and he was the last to go through, but he held strong motivated. 'He would get a class and work hard to support his little sister, he would show them he was strong, he would show them not to look down on people just because they had different upbringing.' he thought to himself as he stepped through the gate into his first dungeon.
