Darkly some low, isolated moon hung above the Hidden Leaf Village, casting long, eerie shadows. The night was to be peaceful-but it wasn't. Something was off in the air. A strange, palpable tension that even the wind couldn't shake. Naruto Uzumaki stood at the balcony of the Hokage office gazing down at the village below. He could feel it-the darkness was coming.
He glanced toward the door and ran faster; A blood-curdling scream cuts across the village. No warning given Naruto broke into a run from the door. He arrives to the gathering of the crowd, staring at a gruesome scene. One body twisted in all sorts of angles. His eyes wide open, yet well dead as stones.
Not long after that, Sasuke Uchiha, who'd been playing the role of elder and teaching the older kids the ropes, arrived on the scene. He was just starting to emblaze with his Sharingan eye as he scanned the area. "Not some little attack," Sasuke murmured, his voice dripping with concern. "This.this is blacker."
The villagers quivered with fear, speaking in hushed tones. Naruto took one step forward; trying to calm himself down as well, but even he could feel this ancient dread seep into his bones. "Don't be afraid," he said. "I'll figure this all out."
But as they left in search, they soon found that the body was just a signal. A whisper that ran waves throughout the village of strange happenings: whispering in the wind, flickering lights in the shadows, ominous feeling in the air. Something was watching them. Something old, and angry.
That night, Naruto just couldn't not feel that the shadows were there in the village as well as deep in him.
