"Oh Tim, you didn't notice this little one next to me?" He said mockingly.
It looked like he was holding onto someone but all they saw was air.
"Daddy! Mommy! I'm home!" Saoirse called to them but nobody looked at her.
"What are you saying, Alastor?" Saoirse's father demanded. His wife scowled and stepped in front of the kids.
They wiped their faces to stop crying and figure out who this man was and why he had interrupted the funeral. Saoirse's brother looked towards the man and noticed a very translucent figure in his grasp. Perhaps it was because he was a child, no more than ten, but then again, all of his siblings were and nobody seemed like they could see her, but next to the man called Alastor was Saoirse.
He could only see a glimmer of her in the moonlight when she moved.
"This child will wander the world forever!" The vampire king exclaimed menacingly. "She is going to wander the earth and there isn't anything you can do about it. You and your weak pack will fall."
Then he looked at the woman who stood guarding their children. He looked at her with utmost hatred. "And, I will have your wife by my side."
Saoirse's father's eyes grew wide. He looked at Alastor's grasp. Could it be? It seemed like he almost looked in the direction of his daughter for a minute. Then anger filled his eyes and he glared at the vampire.
"Lies! She will cross over!" With that, he tossed the torch at the canoe on the fairly stagnant river. It had drifted a ways a bit, but he could throw far.
His wife Amali spoke up angrily. "I know that you used to be my friend Alastor. I wish it could be so, that perhaps our children might one day wed and we could be happy, but you are no friend any longer, leave this place immediately! I don't know how you found us but you are not welcome here!"
Alastor's grasp on Saoirse's arm started to tighten and he began to dig his sharp nails into her arm. He looked sideways at her and then anger filled his eyes.
"I decide who my son marries." He snarled. "That is not the union that I came here for."
"Why can't they see me?" She asked him, "can they hear me?"
It seemed like the king didn't know. He had probably expected to use her as leverage, but he forgot that sometimes the living couldn't see the dead.
Saoirse interrupted his thoughts as she started fighting Alastor's grasp. She started shouting towards her family. "Mom! Dad! I'm right here!"
Alastor continued glaring at her mother, ignoring the child he was grasping.
"Alastor, you have always been mistaken." The werewolf queen lamented.
But Alastor pointed angrily at her husband. "All of the children of Amali should have been mine! I don't care if you can't see her, I've taken your daughter and I will take them all!"
That's when Saoirse briefly made eye contact with a few of her siblings, though her parents still didn't see her, her brother began yelling, "I see her! Dad! That man's got Saoirse! She's invisible Dad!"
Without hesitation, the Alpha shifted in anger, his wolf form emerging with fury to protect his daughter, his full confidence in his son's testimony.
Alastor threw Saoirse to the ground and his guard grabbed her. "Take her back to the car; She doesn't need to see this."
He slapped the werewolf away as he came at him, his sharp nails slashing deep wounds across his face. Then suddenly, an entire coven of vampires descended upon her family. Saoirse fought and tried to run away but wasn't able to see what was going on. People started screaming as she was dragged back to the car and the man holding her shut the door and locked it.
"What's happening?!" She said alarmed. "What is he doing?"
The man didn't reply and he just turned on the radio.
"Why is he mad at my parents? Why aren't they friends?"
"Just leave it be." The man said turning up the radio.
She tried to look out the window but she wasn't able to see anything. The car was too far away from the river.
She waited there for nearly an hour with anticipation until Alastor came back covered in blood and soot. He took off his suit jacket and a man gave him a new one. He wiped blood from his face and hands with a towel and gave it to a guard. Then he spoke to the driver and got into another car.
Saoirse tried to find out what was happening, but the man wouldn't answer her. She slept a bit after a while and then the sun began coming up. They had driven all night. The man pushed a button as soon as they reached a certain spot and a portal opened up.
They were greeted with sunlight, a weakness for the man, so he pushed another button and the windows tinted more.
It wasn't perfect, the man put on some sunglasses.
The driver opened the door and got out, then he opened the door for Saoirse. She cautiously got out of the car and he signaled her to follow him.
She followed and he led her to a couch in the foyer. "Please sit and wait for the king." He said, "He wishes to speak with you."

After nearly an hour, the king arrived. He walked right past her and into the throne room. He sat down on his throne and a servant brought him a glass. Saoirse could smell that it was blood.
"Well, that seemed to go very well." He stated after a while, taking a sip of his drink.
Saoirse didn't know what he meant. As far as she was concerned her family still thought she was dead.
He smirked at her confused face. "Your father and I came to an agreement about our alliance."
"Really?"
"Yes! You see, I used to love your mother until your father stole her from me. I had selected her to be my wife and my father had agreed. It would have made me your father."
Saoirse made a slight face at the thought of this creepy man being her father.
"Alas, it never happened." He sighed. Drinking a sip of the glass and then swirling it around a bit.
"You see, your mother and your father, they got pregnant with you kids. She snuck away with him and made your little villiage. Inviting all those creatures to live with them and even hanging out with humans. Humans are just food." He scoffed. "Why would the wolves prefer an alliance with them instead of me?!" He slammed the glass on a table near his throne, which made Saoirse jump.
"Anyways, as you know I did marry someone else instead, and Sirius is a fine heir for me, but alas we never made that alliance so tonight I decided to go talk to your father about it. He didn't want to respect me that's for sure. That wife thief. But eventually he gave you to me. You see, you are mine now."
