"This drink is courtesy of our boss for the lady."
"Please thank your boss for me." Jin Huan smiled at the waiter, whose steps seemed to float as he walked away.
On the other hand, Ji Yan's expression could hardly be called pleasant.
Others dared to approach her even in his presence; what might happen if he were not by her side...
The mere thought pained his heart.
Indeed, it was he who had brought her out, but any man would treasure her just as dearly; he was irreplaceable to her, yet she was not indispensable to him.
This realization pained him.
Jin Huan noticed the diminishing orange energy around him, feeling distressed by his fluctuating emotions. As they got into the car, she gently tugged on Ji Yan's sleeve.
"What's wrong?" he asked tenderly.
"You're unhappy again."
"No, not unhappy, um~"
She climbed over from the passenger seat and wrapped her arms tightly around Ji Yan's neck.
This, this, Huan'er, I can hardly bear it.
His eyes grew more dangerous, his palm hotter—how could she provoke him so!
"Huan'er, let's go home, let's go home," his voice was husky with a hint of pleading, mixed with urgency.
Jin Huan didn't want to go home; going home meant pain, and she preferred to stay out, so she didn't stop.
The car rocked slightly, his embrace tightening until, overwhelmed, they succumbed to their desires right there.
Both were left somewhat exhausted.
A thin sheen of sweat appeared on his forehead.
She kissed the corner of his lips, her fingertips gently tracing his eyelid: "Are you still unhappy now?"
"Happy, Huan'er, don't leave me, I can't be without you." In just a few days, Ji Yan was madly in love, his eyes brimming with affection.
But, this was typical for men who fell in love with her.
Jin Huan seldom responded to such promises, especially those of never leaving, of love—it was merely words spoken to make them happy.
So she simply smiled, indulging him with a tenderness as gentle as water.
Yet, Ji Yan was insistent, having just surrendered himself to her, he now hoped for a sliver of commitment from her, his heart burning with urgency: "Huan'er, Huan'er."
"Don't leave you? Then be good," Jin Huan whispered softly.
"I'll be good," Ji Yan complied readily, hiding his darker, obsessive sides. He wanted Shen Jin Huan by his side forever, forever!
After getting out of the car, he lifted her back into the passenger seat.
Carefully, he buckled her seatbelt.
They had to go home now; a change of trousers was necessary.
The stain was noticeably darker than elsewhere.
Jin Huan snuggled under a blanket, playing Plants vs. Zombies on her phone—such a satisfying gaming experience for a payer!
Watching the continuous rise of suns in the game, her eyes gleamed with contentment.
She placed walnuts at the perimeter to fend off the zombies, with all her plants at full force firing peas.
After adding a few catapults, the firepower was impressive.
But the level was nearing its end, with a zombie wave approaching.
The moment the eerie yet humorous music played from her phone, she perked up, determined to win this level!
...
After Ji Yan came out of the shower, his gaze was dark; the thought of her lying on his bed made it impossible to focus on bathing.
Especially considering what had transpired in the car, that tantalizing experience—he wanted more...
And after coming out, that desire only intensified.
"Click"—the room light was turned off.
The mattress dipped as a shadow loomed over her.
Her phone was snatched from her hand, the screen locked, and placed on the nightstand.
Her wrist was grasped firmly.
"Ji Yan, what are you doing?"
"I want you."
