I tried my best to stop him but my strength was not enough, I had no idea what they spoke about but he came out of the office furious. He later went to the director's office telling him to reassign me with a threat, I was even scared by his reaction.
"Owen you need to relax, you have surgery later and can't send this mood into the operating room. I told you I am good with the emergency ward."
"How can you say you are good when you stand all day treating patients? Pregnant women are not supposed to stand all day."
He was stubborn, but I convinced him and returned to the ward. He was all over me like a bodyguard throughout the day. I was contemplating if I made the right choice by telling him about the pregnancy because he became more attached. He visited on the weekend with a lot of clothes,
"Owen, why all these clothes?"
"Jasmine, I am here to stay."
"Stay where? You didn't ask me if it was okay. What of my privacy?"
"I just want to take care of you and our boy."
He kept calling the unborn child a boy which was a little annoying because I have always wanted a girl. I corrected him to start calling it a girl but his answer was shocking. We went to the amusement park to have a wonderful time after a stressful weekend. He took me to the aquarium after claiming it was good for our baby boy. I hit his head and told him to stop using he and went to the bathroom.
"Hello Handsome, what is a handsome guy like you doing here alone?"
"I am with someone and she will be here soon so if you don't mind, I don't want her to see you here."
"I am diamond and I think you deserve better. I live in the motel opposite the aquarium, you have my room number so you can come around anytime. I will be expecting you."
I saw a lady all over him, I asked if he was okay. He didn't complain and said it was nothing. I was doing laundry the next day when I saw a note in his pocket saying "I will be waiting for your love" with a key so I confronted him and asked him what it meant. We had a slight argument but he answered that he didn't know where the key and note came from.
"Jasmine I am sorry if I created any suspicion, you know I will never cheat on you or do anything to hurt you. I don't want us to argue especially when you are pregnant so please trust me when I tell you I have no idea how that note and key got inside my pocket but I suspect it was the lady from yesterday."
I hugged him and we both reconciled. When I got to work Monday morning, I realized all eyes were on me so I went to my post and asked the medical residents what was happening.
"Doctor Jasmine, haven't you been to the hospital's page?"
I read the news and I was being fired for being incompetent. I was shocked the hospital could classify me as that after all the traveling, sacrifice, and hard work I had to put into this hospital. I ran to the cardiothoracic department because I didn't want Owen to see the news, I knew he would react but he was already gone when I went there. I rushed to the director's office, his door was locked so there was one place left to check.
I went to the president's office to stop Owen from making any mistake, his secretary told me he was in a meeting so I was sure and calm that Owen hadn't read the news yet. I wanted to understand why Nicolas fired me so I waited at his office.
"Doctor Jasmine, I heard you want to talk to me. Is everything alright?"
"Nicolas stop pretending to be nice, I know very well that you got me fired. If you knew you would fire me then why did you send me to the emergency ward to go through all that stress."
"Doctor Jasmine, I am the president of this hospital and I want what is best for this hospital so all the choices I make are for the benefit of the hospital. I can't have a pregnant woman working in the emergency ward."
"Nicolas, what happened to you? How did you become this wicked as soon as your dad died? Upon all I did for this hospital, you still called me incompetent."
"Didn't we pay you for your work Jasmine? This is my hospital and you are fired, you can start at the hospital you got from my Dad."
I met Owen on the first floor, his expression didn't show any sign of anger. The Owen I knew would have been angry suppose he saw the news. He said he had left his phone in his office so I should wait in the car, I was sitting in the car and remembered Owen was not in the office in the first place.
I went to his office but was told he was heading towards the tenth floor. I knew that this man was up to something. I went to the tenth floor and the scene was….
"OWEN!! You are choking him, leave him otherwise you will regret this."
"Jasmine let me kill his foolish man and go to prison."
"If you go to prison, what about our child, I thought you said you would love to parent a child with me. Nicolas is not worth your energy, let go home."
"The two of you are fired, leave the building now, or I am calling security."
"Jasmine do you know he admitted to sending the lady at the aquarium to seduce me, allow me to discipline this man."
"Owen stop it, stop it, stop...…. Ouch!!!"
"Jasmine! JASMINE! JASMINE!!!!"
