"Doctor, is she okay?"
"Doctor Owen don't worry she is fine and the baby is also fine."
He took me home and apologized throughout. I wouldn't have forgiven him if something happened to the baby because of his actions. I understood it was out of anger, but he doesn't listen sometimes, which is bad. I acted angry and refused his apology. He knelt in the hall to get my attention but I ignored him. At 11, I went to the kitchen to get water when I saw him sleeping on his knees.
I carried him to the couch and covered him with a blanket since I didn't have the strength to take him to the bed. I woke up early to prepare breakfast.
"Owen I'm sorry for ignoring you yesterday, I know you care about me and won't do anything to hurt me. Sometimes anger makes you hurt people close to you when you intend to protect them, you have to control your anger sometimes so you don't make any mistakes like the one you did yesterday. You are the coolest boyfriend I've had my whole life and I trust you with our baby so you need to be perfect Owen."
"I wouldn't have forgiven myself if something happened to you and our child. I don't know what is coming over me of late but I promise to work on myself. Ignoring me the whole night was heartbreaking. I even went on my knees and you still didn't talk to me. I made a mistake, I'm fully aware of but at least I maned up and apologized."
"Owen I am sorry for ignoring you, I just wanted to make a point. I promise it won't happen again so please come eat your breakfast before it gets cold."
I had no choice but to start working in my hospital. I asked Owen to tag along but he funnily refused to call me boss so he decided to go job hunting. I knew with his CV, he would get a job in no time. "What is with men and pride," what is bad about me being his boss? No law in the world regulates a girlfriend from being the boss of the boyfriend, at work. I called the president of the hospital to inform him about my arrangements.
"I'm going to work, good luck on your job hunting. It would have been easy if you just came to work for me but pride is stopping you."
"Babe, I am not working for you, I will get a job in no time. Have a wonderful day at work."
The executives were waiting to greet me at the entrance, I didn't want to create any scene of kingship when they all bowed and welcomed me, I packed my car at the garage and took the elevator there to wait for the president in his office. He insisted I come and take my rightful place as the CEO but I refused and told him to assign me to the cardiothoracic department.
"Babe, welcome back. How was your day?"
"Good honey, how about your job Hunt?"
"Hmm, all the hospitals seem to like my CV but after they speak to the director of the cardiothoracic department I am rejected. It's like someone is pulling the strings or maybe your ex-husband is doing something."
"Why don't you come work in my hospital? I will make you a director."
"I still refuse to work under you. I will get a work very soon. My mom is calling."
He smacked my bum, kissed me, and went out to see his mom. I wanted to see his mom since I hadn't seen her before but he refused saying I was not ready. I could not wait for him, I ate and went to bed.
"Hello Mom, it has been a while, how are you doing?"
"I am fine but I didn't come here to exchange greetings, we need to talk."
"What is it mom, is dad sick again?"
"The family company is sinking, your dad and I have tried everything but nothing is working. All our partners and investors are redrawing, but there is a solution to all this problem."
"Mom what is the solution, I will gladly give my life to help."
"You need to marry Adele, so both of our families merge. I know you won't disappoint me."
I woke up with a warm kiss and breakfast in bed, it was a little surprising but I mean I was pregnant so I expected this kind of treatment from him. I asked how his conversation with his mom went and he nodded. We kissed and wished each other a wonderful day.
The president introduced me as the new director of the cardiothoracic department, I started work right away and met the executives in the department. Some gave me a warm welcome but others also gave me the thief look. I understood them, I just came and have been given the director of a department but life is not fair as we all know. I ignored their looks and went to do my rounds to see the hospital and understand the environment.
I got home and realized all the lights in the house were off so I thought he was still scouting for a job. I entered and couldn't believe my eyes. The room was red, with roses all over the floor and a Celine Dion song in the background. The room was wow, I haven't seen anything as beautiful.
"Babe, I can't see a future without you. I have waited long and don't want any man to dig a treasure I have been sitting on all this while. Life without you is like being a doctor without hands so will you do me the honor of being my wife."
