It's either death or agreeing to their game. If you agree, you might have a slim chance of survival.
You humiliated yourself by accepting the game.
The young master of the Jackson Family and his entourage politely made way for you.
You looked at the long, winding road leading to the City of Doom and began to run like prey.
You could hear the mocking laughter behind you, and you could feel the young master of the Jackson Family gradually picking up his bow and arrow.
Your life was their plaything.
You narrowly dodged arrow after arrow.
Finally, you were close to the city walls.
It seemed like a new hope was within reach!
But then, the young master shot a fiercer arrow, piercing through your leg bone.
More arrows followed, penetrating your body, turning you into a human pincushion.
Your body collapsed near the city walls, blood pooling around you.
In your final moments, you realized something painfully ironic: not a single person in this world mourned your death.
Except for one figure at the Chaoyang Martial Arts School training ground, who stood silently in the sunlight as promised.
She waited until the sunset swallowed her shadow completely, but you never showed up.
Eventually, she turned and left.
It seemed like the heavens' final tribute to you!
Damn it, the final tribute!
Bertram gritted his teeth in fury.
In this third simulation, dying like this was just too frustrating!
I got shot down like prey, arrow by arrow!
And even something as outrageous as an attack on the police station happened.
Who would be crazy enough to go into the police station's jail and silence someone?
But not only did it happen, they actually succeeded!
Poor Officer Nelson ended up in the ICU!
"Officer Nelson, you spent thirty thousand Dawn Coins to get this credit, it's not my fault!"
Officer Nelson really paid to get beaten up this time!
Meanwhile, Bertram managed to escape the disaster.
But in the end, he still couldn't avoid getting backstabbed by a cop!
"At least, through this simulation, I found out the mastermind is from the Jackson Family!"
"The Jackson Family kidnapped Vanessa, the daughter of the Olson Family, for some treasure. It must be something extraordinary for them to go to such lengths!"
"Otherwise, a big family like that wouldn't stoop so low!"
"But no matter how shameless the Jackson Family is, they're way out of my league!"
Damn, I'm just an F-rank, while the Jackson
Family has A-ranks.
I might just be on the same level as a guard dog. Why do I have to bear such enormous pressure so early on?
Bertram felt like crying but had no tears left.
"That snitching cop, I can't be sure when he ratted me out, but I have to prepare for the worst!"
"If the Jackson Family already knows I reported them, how can I reshape my fate?"
Bertram pondered.
"The Olson Family's daughter, Vanessa, is currently at the underground coal plant in East District Nine. This information could be useful, but how do I explain where it came from? I can't just say I overheard it by chance again."
"So many coincidences, and every time they discuss critical plans, I just happen to eavesdrop?"
"The Infinite Life Simulation can't be exposed!"
"Even if I solve the issue of the information source, will this news be enough for the Olson Family to shield me from the impending threat of the Jackson Family?"
A person without value wouldn't be protected by a powerful family.
Bertram was brainstorming frantically.
He didn't want the tragic scenes of himself being shot to death, as seen in the life simulation, to become a reality.
Suddenly, an idea struck him, and his eyes lit up.
"Maybe this could work!"
"Bertram, someone is looking for you in the office!" Homeroom teacher Mr. Javion knocked on the door, informing Bertram.
"Okay, sir, I'll head over right away!"
Bertram took a deep breath, thinking that everything was about to begin.
He got up and left the dorm, walking towards the office.
When he arrived, he pushed the door open to find the office eerily quiet.
There was only one figure sitting quietly on a chair, legs crossed, looking at her phone.
She was an exceptionally elegant girl, wearing a light blue jacket.
Her skin was as soft as snow, and her features were exquisitely perfect, truly stunning.
Among all the women he had seen, perhaps only the mysterious girl from the dojo could surpass her.
But what left the deepest impression were her eyes. Her pupils were like two snowflakes, or perhaps a frozen lake stretching for miles.
"Are you the student who reported to Officer Nelson?" The ice-lake-eyed girl put down her phone and looked up, her tone calm and emotionless.
Yet, her words carried an invisible pressure that made one instinctively not dare to defy her.
"Reported? What report?" Bertram asked, puzzled.
"Can't remember the report? Then do you remember the thirty thousand dawn coins?" The ice-lake-eyed girl continued in the same calm tone.
"Uh, that I do remember. Yes, I reported to Officer Nelson. Is something wrong?" Bertram admitted readily after a brief moment of awkwardness.
He mentally gave himself a perfect score for his performance.
Bertram's reaction left a good impression on the Ice Lake Maiden. He understood basic promises and wasn't foolish.
The Ice Lake Maiden's expression grew serious. "You can think of me as Officer Nelson's superior."
"Last night, the police station where Officer Nelson works was attacked by a group of mysterious individuals. The men in black that were caught after you reported them were all silenced, and Officer Nelson was severely injured. He's still in the emergency room," she said, her emotions causing the surrounding temperature to drop noticeably.
"Who would dare to attack a police station?" Bertram was so shocked that he fell into a nearby chair.
"Did you catch them?" he quickly asked.
"Humph! Those scoundrels! They escaped quickly, scattering into the city. By the time we reacted, it was too late to pursue them. All the men in black were silenced, and the clues about Vanessa's kidnapping ended there. Before Officer Nelson was taken into the emergency room, he gave me your information. I came to see if you could provide more details," the Ice Lake Maiden said, looking at Bertram.
"How could they be so brazen!" Bertram gritted his teeth.
"But I don't know much more. I already told Officer Nelson everything that day," Bertram said, shaking his head helplessly.
The Ice Lake Maiden's expression turned somber.
Ever since her sister Vanessa was kidnapped, she had been running around, finally finding a lead, only for it to be cut off by the mastermind behind it all.
