Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: APUSH is a pain in the ass

"The war is over… but it's just the beginning. A new era. A time to mend old and new wounds. Peace is the healing we need… not vengeance. The toughest of times is over but now… now the strength of our wills will be tested. Our job now is to heal each other. Pettiness would serve us no good. I-"

Beep. Beep. Beep.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" I yelled, eyes open while I got up. "Oh fuck, it's 1 o' clock. I am so fucked."

I rubbed my hand down my face. I took a deep breath. I then immediately turned off my phone alarm, and threw my phone at the far end of my bed. I got up as fast as I could, putting on my baggy black jeans, a black jacket and a white tee, and my chain that has multiple crosses on it. I picked my Rick Owens shoes from the floor, picked up my brush at my bathroom, and got to brushing. I brushed my teeth while putting my shoes on at the same time.

I grabbed my bag, put it over my shoulder and ran down the stairs. I grabbed my skateboard and ran out the door before my mom could say something. I put my earbuds on and started booking it on my board. It took me like 20 minutes to get to the front of the school. I opened the doors, showed my id, got my late pass, and started speed walking to AP US History. I'm already 10 minutes late for the class. I miss both my first and third period class.

There was nobody in the hallways as class already started and students aren't allowed to use the bathroom until 15 minutes after class has started. I went to the front door of the classroom and opened it. I saw my AP US History teacher, Mr. Hill doing a lecture about WWII. He did say we were going onto that topic yesterday. Mr. Hill looked at me but went back to doing his lecture.

As I walked through, I almost tripped myself by hitting the back of my foot. Luckily I caught myself but as I looked up everyone was staring at me.

"You guys didn't see that."

I stood straight as I could, looking left and right very nonchalantly like nothing happened. I dabbed up one of my buddies before going to my seat. I scratched the back of my neck and just walked to my desk.

"As I was saying before Mr. Inoue walked through the door and almost made a spectacle, the U.S. general at the time, Longnern Chao, was a key figure in reclaiming France and pushing the Nazi's back to their country. Through him, he brought massive innovation in technology for warfare during the war and civil reforms for after the war." Mr. Hill changed the bullet point and it showed a painting of General Chao in his military uniform with his medals, arms crossed.. "A highly respected figure during world war II and still revered to this day for his reformations and sympathy towards ethnic minorities."

"This painting here was painted by Adolf Hitler. A very controversial figure in German politics born in 1888. His artwork is impeccable by the way as you can see. He was a member of the resistance against the Nazi party. He housed multiple Jewish refugees and even married one." He switched to the next slide. Showing the painting of Hitler's wife. "This is Anne Hitler but her surname is Anne Frank and she even goes by Anne Frank in her books. She is a Jewish writer advocating about the rights of her people, war crimes, and especially freedom. While housing her family, Hitler fell in love with Anne. If you want to know more about their relationship I recommend you read Anne Frank's diary and yes I know about the age gap while I don't condone it, the 1900s was a wild time."

We all laughed at that part. He switched the slide again to show various technologies during world war II.

"Let's get back to the topic at hand, which is General Chao's invention. One of his innovations of world war 2 was the odm gear. Chao and his squad would use the odm gear multiple times to do assassinations, espionage, and ambushes on the enemy supply lines or in cities. He uses them especially at night time. And speaking of assassinations, that's how he died. He was giving a speech about the war and the upcoming reformation he had planned for the country until the leader of the deceased Nazi party shot him with a sniper rifle on a rooftop on a random building. She shot his wife first as his wife tackled him out the way and then moments later he was shot in the head then after." He switched to the slide of her getting arrested. "She was arrested shortly after and then executed publicly to somehow appease the mob which it helped until our shit government didn't enact on Chao's plans for reformation which caused more riots and protest for civil rights."

He switched to a slide showing riots and protests. "These riots and protests were quelled first with politicians giving false promises and hope. People were quick to riot again until they were clamped down by law enforcements and given harsh sentences with no bail. Chao's plans for reformations were enacted way later in the 80s when the civil war happened. As MLK was the man to enact it but that's a whole different topic for a later day."

I raised my hand. "Who was the woman's name? You never told us."

"Sorry I think I missed a slide. Hold on." He swiped back a couple slides. "I thought I had told you guys I'm having an off day, sorry about that I didn't have any coffee during the morning. Her code name was AR feared by many but her real name was Alice Rayes."
