Chapter 1 - Important Job

"Axe, the White Tiger Demon Clan Chief, you finally came to my invitation, haha." laughed a man who was over 5000 years old but looked as young as a 50-year-old man currently on the throne.

The Tiger Demon Clan's Supreme King grinned happily at the presence of the flat-faced man currently facing him, "Would you have gotten out of your cozy bed if I hadn't called you?"

"Yes," was the only answer given by Axe, the White Tiger Demon Clan Chief.

"Oh my... what should I do to you to make you more polite?" Olmomos tapped his forehead, confused by the cold demeanor of one of his top subordinates.

As the Tiger Demon Clan's Supreme King, Olmomos respected Axe, who was his future successor. God had ordained that decision when Axe was created as a Tiger Demon.

His perfectly handsome face, muscular body, high magic power, and long silver hair complete Axe's appearance as Clan Chief among the other tiger demon clan chiefs.

"Alright, get on with it. The reason I called you here was for one big reason. I've just returned from the Alliance of Demon Supreme Kings, and found out about an interesting matter that's been the talk of the demon world," Olmomos continued, but now his face was severe, matching Axe's cold demeanor.

"It's about the leaked news from the heavens about the Pearl of God's Tears. You want to know what it is, don't you?" Olmomos asked Axe for a response this time.

"Hmm, what is it?" Axe asked briefly, but that was enough to make Olmomos eager to explain.

"The Pearl of God's Tear is said to be a large energy created by a weeping god. The phenomenon is said to repeat once every hundred light years,"

"If that energy is created from the emotions that a god emits, it means that it will be beneficial for the demon race,"

"A meeting of the Demon Clan Supreme Kings agreed to search for the existence of the Pearl of God's Tear, and whichever demon clan finds it will become the supreme demon clan in the demon world,"

Olmomos explained what he knew about the energy from God's cry for Axe. The Supreme King seemed to have high hopes for Axe, whose strength was the highest among the Tiger Demon Clan Chiefs.

"Then why is God crying?"

Olmomos frowned before sighing tiredly at the insensitive Axe. He wanted to get angry and annihilate Axe, but he couldn't. He had to be patient with Axe's insolent behavior towards him.

Olmomos tried to regulate his breathing, which was about to be ignited by anger, "Instead of asking why God is crying, wouldn't you rather ask where the Pearl of Energy is?"

"I need a reason to move,"

'Argh!!!' Olmomos shouted inwardly. He gave up facing this outrageous Axe.

Wasn't the reason that the God's Tear Pearl would make the Tiger Demon Clan the most powerful the main reason for their mission? Why did he have to know the reason why God was crying?

Olmomos regained his almost fiery breath, "I don't know why God is crying, but can you take what we're discussing more seriously?"

"Among the Tiger Demon Clan Chiefs, you are the strongest. Your birth brings a great destiny for our clan; please take this seriously and respect me as your Supreme King!"

"There are demons who say they saw a large comet with unusual light fall to earth. They believe it to be the God's Tear Pearl because the centennial of that light coincides with this year,"

"So, we must obtain that great power for the glory of our clan!"

This time, Olmomos spoke more forcefully. His tone was no longer as gentle as it had been with Axe. However, it was nothing to the White Tiger.

"I have understood. May I go?" Axe asked briefly as if bored with their conversation.

'Boom!' exploded Olmomos' patience with Axe. But, again, the old Tiger Demon could not act to punish Axe for uncertain reasons. Finally, the old Supreme King could only relent again and again.

"Go and bring good news to me immediately. I don't want to hear any other Demon Clan Supreme Kings bragging about their clan getting the Pearl of God's Tear first," Olmomos said tiredly, and this time, he was too lazy to look back at the bold Axe.

There was no response, only a brief 'Wosh!' from the wind, signaling that Axe had disappeared without saying goodbye, which made Olmomos even more helpless.

"Ehem, my lord..." A short call from beside Olmomos' throne chair rang out. It was Zaf, Olmomos' advisor.

"I told you he would obey my orders, didn't I? No matter how bold he is to me, for the sake of the Tiger Demon Clan, he will leave his cozy palace, Zaf." Olmomos smiled, but it was a forced smile, and Zaf saw it.

"Hmm, that means your gamble has begun, right, my lord?" Zaf commented.

"I've told you from the start that I will remain the Supreme King of the Tiger Demon Clan. Shut your damn mouth, or someone will hear about it!" Olmomos was furious at Zaf's words, "You want to be ashes, huh?!"

"Forgive me, my lord. I won't say anything more. Yes, you will become what you always say," Zaf was frightened, "But, my lord..."

"But what?!" Olmomos snapped.

"According to your decree, my lord, the Tiger Demon Clan will be at the pinnacle of glory in the demon world after obtaining the Pearl of God's Eye. But... what if King Axe fails, my lord?"

Zaf's question made Olmomos cringe, making him even more afraid to say more. The Supreme King's advisor withdrew his question again.

"Please ignore my stupid question, my lord. I'm just worried that King Axe won't be able to get the Energy Pearl because of his negligence,"

"What do you mean?"

"My lord, we all know that King Axe is the laziest Clan Chief even though he is a powerful King. He never mixes with other demons. He also never travels to other territories outside of his own,"

"I'm just worried that King Axe might... get lost, my lord," Zaf finally fini

shed his stuttered speech.

"Axe would get lost?" Olmomos repeated his advisor's explanation in confusion as well.

Would the head of the White Tiger Demon Clan get lost? Perhaps it was a ridiculous notion to others, but it seemed that Zaf's thought was not impossible for King Axe.

'Wosh!!!' the sound of the wind whipping was heard. Axe landed his feet on the ground.

"Ground?" He muttered briefly while frowning. His long silver hair flowed in the wind, making him look up, "Blue sky?"

Axe's situation became more complicated as he examined his surroundings: green grass, a clear blue sky, the sounds of forest animals, and the smell of wet soil.

"This is not my palace grounds. Ah, no. This is not the demon world. Did I cast a spell by mistake and enter the human world?"

"Gosh... That old fart just wasted my precious time and energy. He doesn't know there are more important things to do than look for pearls,"

Axe grumbled as he stretched before quickly disappearing and moving to one of the lush tree branches. It was the perfect place to do work that he thought was more important than searching for the Pearl of God's Tear.

What could be more critical than… sleeping?
