Chapter 3 - Marriage Is A Punishment

One hundred light years had passed with nothing. Whether it was the Tiger Demon Clan or any other demon clan, there was no news that anyone had found the Pearl of God's Tear. That extraordinary energy was overlooked and nowhere to be seen.

It wasn't that they weren't looking, but there wasn't a single demon who knew what the pearl of energy looked like. And that was nothing to Axe, who was once again summoned by Olmomos to the main palace of the Tiger Demon Clan.

This time, the meeting hall was filled with many tiger demons, consisting of the Tiger Demon Clan Chiefs and their subordinates. All of them were there to listen to Olmomos' anger.

The noise in the hall fell silent with the arrival of the awaited Clan Chief.

"Are you done meditating? Or sleeping?" Almomos wasted no time in grumbling when Axe arrived. The flat, lazy look on his face sickened Olmomos.

"It's a pity the Pearl of God's Tears was missed," the Supreme King continued, sounding like he was making fun of Axe.

"I heard that," Axe replied briefly.

"You knew, but you did nothing?! What did you do for a hundred years of light, huh? Did you sleep the whole year?!"

"Maybe."

"Argh!!!" Olmomos shouted angrily. His rage even caused the palace to shake violently. All the demons in the grand room flinched at their Supreme King's rage except Axe.

"You'll die sooner if you scream that much," so boldly, Axe took it in stride as he picked at his ears as they buzzed from Olmomos' voice.

However, this time, it was no longer Olmomos's voice that sounded angry; instead, a lightning bolt boomed right before Axe. Of course, he was startled, and his eyes widened perfectly.

"You want to cook a roasted tiger? What if it hits me?" Axe's silly question clearly brought down Olmomos' pride.

All tiger demons knew that Olmomos could not raise a hand to Axe, even if he was the Supreme King, while Axe was currently just one of the Clan Chiefs or an ordinary king.

That was because Axe was a pure descendant of the previous Supreme Queen. Axe's mother was the last Supreme Queen. She died after giving birth to Axe into the Demon world. That's why Axe will become the next Supreme King when he reaches the age of 5000 years of stealth or 50 years of human age.

However, since the position of Supreme King was vacant, Olmomos, the Supreme Queen's representative at the time, was crowned the successor Supreme King. The Tiger Demon Clan must abide by the rules or be condemned to ashes under the Gods' curse.

This time, Olmomos felt humiliated by a child-like Axe. Meanwhile, Axe felt right because he did not break any rules. Failing to carry out Olmomos' absurd mission is not a sin for him. The proof is that he is still alive and the King of the White Tiger Demon Clan.

Olmomos's plan to humiliate Axe failed, and instead, he turned around to destroy his own reputation. His eyes could see many smiles that held back the laughter of the clan officials there.

"It wasn't a threat. That lightning bolt was my way of waking you up from your slumber. That's all," Olmomos argued.

"Are you sure you're not upset that our clan didn't get that great energy?" Axe now asked. His sentences were also more extended, if you noticed, whereas he was usually very stingy with his voice.

"Not really. Maybe I'm disappointed, but what can I do? At least until now, no one has bragged that their clan is superior because they got that special pearl," Olmomos replied mockingly.

'Whatever...' Axe's mind instantly replied; he rolled his eyes lazily, "Then I'll go," he continued briefly and immediately turned around.

"Wait!"

Olmomos' call made Axe stop and turn around. He was starting to feel uncomfortable at Olmomos' sly smile.

"It's about time you got married!"

'Boom!' the command sounded like an explosion in Axe's head.

"It is the rule for Tiger Demon Clan Chiefs to marry when they reach the age of 3000. You've reached the age required to marry one of the princesses in our kingdom. How about it, King Axe, do you have a choice?"

Olmomos' question made Axe's ears ring and his headache. He hated the topic of marriage because a relationship like that was trouble. Being married was just like a prison; he couldn't sleep and meditate in peace. At least, that was Axe's thinking.

"Sorry, Supreme King. I need to go to the back. My stomach is suddenly queasy," Axe said quickly, wanting to leave immediately to escape the trouble.

"Go, King Axe. I know you're so happy that your stomach is tense, haha! I'm happy to see your happiness, haha!"

Olmomos' laughter was clearly mocking Axe. He even had the rest of the tiger demon clan cheering and congratulating Axe.

"In less than a year, you must be married, King Axe, or you know what the consequences will be for you and the survival of the Tiger Demon nation!"

This time, with a stern tone and a big voice, Olmomos reminded Axe of the rules that he could no longer avoid. Yes, he had to marry or choose to let himself abdicate the throne and be reduced to ashes before the people of the tiger-demon clan.

"I know. I'm out," Axe replied coldly. There was no happy smile; there was only hatred and anger in his heart for Olmomos, who had disturbed the peace of his life.

'Take that, you insolent child! You think you can toy with the Supreme King, huh? Enjoy the rest of your sleepy freedom!' cursed the Supreme King Olmomos to himself. A smile of satisfaction was clearly drawn on his face after Axe lost his arrogance.

'Wosh!!!' a gust of wind brought Axe back to the Black Gold Forest. Instead of returning to his very festive palace welcoming the news of his marriage, Axe preferred to sit alone on the branch of the most comfortable peach tree in the human world.

"So he's punishing me this way on purpose? How bold of him," Axe complained in annoyance, "There's no sense in making marriage a punishment!"

"He even gave me a hundred days to…"

"So mean! God, you're so mean to me!"

The sound of a woman crying and screaming under a tree made Axe stop his sentence.

"Human again? Oh, shit. Why is God being so nosy to me today!" Axe grumbled irritably at God.

Obviously, he hated humans coming to his place, but why was the timing so perfect after Olmomos' stupid order to him?

"Why does the world hate me so much, God? I didn't even ask to be born into this life! I want to marry the man I love; I want to be happy, not control his family's money!" The woman screamed at the top of her lungs.

Axe, who had been very annoyed, smiled.

"It's about marriage, too. Hmm, that sounds interesting. Well, let me first hear what joke this human child has brought that she dared to defy death by coming here," Axe chirped Axe, who began to lay down casually and went into 'listener' mode.
