Amidst another fierce clash, Liu Bin positioned himself at the center of the converging paths of three zombies.
As the trio toppled to the ground from the impact, Liu Bin staggered back but quickly regained his footing and charged forward.
He targeted the closest zombie first.
Shielded, he gripped his baton with his left hand, leaped forward with great strides, and landed heavily, channeling his momentum and gravity directly onto the skull of the frail zombie.
With a resounding "thud!" dark blood splattered as the head caved in.
In just those few seconds, the other lean zombies had already risen, charging towards Liu Bin anew.
Liu Bin kicked the headless corpse aside, lowered his center of gravity, and braced for another round of defense.
As one zombie lunged, snapping its jaws futilely against the smooth surface of the shield, Liu Bin prepared to subdue another assailant.
As the next zombie rushed towards him, Liu Bin unleashed his strength, swinging his left arm and hurling the final undead body through the air with his head following.
The zombie underfoot was subjected to relentless blows through the shield, eventually succumbing to the continuous assault.
Lifting his shield, Liu Bin delivered another precise headshot, the zombie collapsing at his feet.
Now adorned with dark red splatters on his once pristine gear, Liu Bin panted heavily, his heart pounding uncontrollably as a mix of adrenaline and faint fear began to subside. Both his hands ached—one from numbness, the other from strain.
Fortunately, all the agile zombies were now neutralized.
The remaining zombies ambled aimlessly nearby, and the entrance to the auditorium was only steps away.
With a swift turn of the handle, Liu Bin peered inside before seizing the moment to enter.
The interior was dark, and his flashlight flickered uncertainly—fortunately, it seemed clear of threats.
Locking the door behind him, Liu Bin raised his flashlight again, hoping its meager light would reveal more about his surroundings.
Suddenly, the entire auditorium lit up.
Who turned on the lights? Wasn't this school overrun by infection? Could zombies operate lights?
This was bad—what if there was a boss waiting here for him?
Gripping his shield and baton tightly, Liu Bin steeled himself for battle.
Crouching behind a chair, a sudden scream exploded behind him.
"What the hell?!"
"You screaming fool! With so many zombies outside, do you want to die?!" Liu Bin exclaimed, rushing over to silence the source—a little girl frightened by the sight of the blood-stained "armored knight."
He quickly covered her mouth, whispering reassurances.
Startled but realizing Liu Bin was not a threat, the girl nodded her understanding, signaling she would stay quiet.
Relieved, Liu Bin gently released his grip, exhaling deeply.
"Phew, that scared me... What are you doing here...?"
"You big meanie! You scared me," the girl sobbed, suddenly punching Liu Bin before collapsing to the ground in tears.
Sighing with a mixture of frustration and compassion, Liu Bin removed his gloves and arm guards, embracing her gently, trying to calm her sobs. Expecting her to quiet down, he was instead met with increasing wails.
Now in a predicament, Liu Bin pondered if he should resort to treats to soothe her—a strategy often as delicate as the situations he faced outside.
