"I FINALLY met you, Park Sohee-ssi."
Ah.
It's a male shaman…
Sohee, who was kneeling in front of the male shaman simply called 'Jung,' tried not to show his surprise.
The shaman looks around the same age as my father.
But Jung-nim looks dignified, unlike Abeoji.
Even the shaman's traditional clothing and thick make-up looked cool.
"Did your grandfather visit you in your recent dream, Park Sohee-ssi?"
Oh?
Sohee could feel that Jung was a genuine shaman.
It wasn't only because the room where they were in totally looked like a shaman's room as seen in dramas and films, but because he could feel the strange energy in there.
Yeah, I do believe in the supernatural.
"Yes, sir," Sohee answered politely. "My grandfather was happy for me. He wanted me to enjoy my new life. But my grandfather seemed to be shocked when I said I was born an Omega. He wanted me to get Kim Heedo pregnant."
He was only able to share that much with the shaman because only the two of them were there.
Kim Heedo said he already talked to Jung-nim earlier.
"Park Sohee-ssi, your hardships have finally paid off. You'll be financially free for the rest of your life," Shaman Jung said, giving Sohee the assurance that he wanted to hear. "Having said that, I would still recommend conceiving a child with Kim Heedo-ssi. Your future child, if you decide to have any, will bring you more stability in life. After all, even rich people get lonely."
That was true.
But I'd rather be lonely as a rich person than lonely and poor.
"Thank you for the advice, sir," Sohee said politely. "Having a child is a decision that I need to make with Kim Heedo, but I'll keep your advice in mind."
"I'll be grateful if you do. After all, it's my duty to help you walk the flower path from now on, Park Sohee-ssi."
"But we've only met, sir."
"Chairman Kim Hyungsik started visiting me and this shrine fifteen years ago, a few years after I established my name as a shaman who brought prosperity to my clients," Shaman Jung explained in a calm tone. "That was how I "met" your grandfather. Grandpa Sung's grudge against Chairman Kim was so strong that it manifested and became an evil spirit."
Sohee gasped. "My grandfather became an evil spirit, sir?"
"Yes, but it was only a part of your grandfather's soul that became an evil spirit. I wasn't able to talk to it for years, and I failed to exorcise it again and again. However, that changed four years ago."
Ah, that was a year before Chairman Kim found me.
"After talking to your grandfather, I realized that the only way to get rid of his grudge was for his remaining family members to have a comfortable life," Shaman Jung, the shaman, explained. "When I checked your lucky star after getting your name and birth date from your grandfather, I discovered that your misfortune would only end with the help of Chairman Kim's oldest grandson. You two are destined to end the deep grudge between your families."
Ah.
It's like the plot of the last webcomic I read.
"The happier and more successful you become, the lesser your grandfather's grudge will get," Shaman Jung continued with his explanation. "And whenever your grandfather's grudge weakens, the Kim Family would get luckier. Hence, the Kim Family has no choice but to treat you well if they don't want to go bankrupt."
"It's not that I don't trust you, sir. I just can't picture the Kim Family going bankrupt. If Ilsung Group collapses, then South Korea's economy would crash."
"Child, I said the Kim Family would go bankrupt— not Ilsung Group itself."
Sohee's brain buffered for a moment before he realized what the shaman meant by his ominous words. "Sir, are you saying that Ilsung Group might fall into the hands of an outsider?"
A chaebol family was a family running a huge conglomerate.
But if a person outside the Kim Family snatches Ilsung Group from them, then…
It would be called 'karma.'
"That's the worst-case scenario that I've seen just recently."
"Does Chairman Kim know about that?"
"Yes, of course— the entire Kim Family knows what will happen if they don't treat you well. At first, only Chairman Kim believes in me. But when the entire family experienced bad luck that threatened their lives, they finally believed my visions."
"No wonder Kim Heedo looked for me again— their family is scared to lose Ilsung Group to an outsider," Sohee said, tilting his head to one side. "Although Chairman Kim stole my grandfather's lottery win, it was still Chairman Kim who built Ilsung Group. It would suck for him if the company that he built with his blood, sweat, and tears would just fall into the hands of an outsider."
"Do you feel bad for Chairman Kim?"
"Nah, that would be his karma if that happens. I'm just saying that I finally understand why Chairman Kim is willing to marry off his precious grandson to a nobody like me."
"Don't sell yourself short, kid," Shaman Jung said, smiling at Sohee warmly. "The Kim Family's entire fortune depends on your happiness now."
Right.
I have to be happy to maintain the Kim Family's luck and fortune for a few more generations to come.
Sohee really hit the jackpot.
"Now that you're financially free, is there something that you want to do, Park Sohee-ssi?" Jung asked in a gentle and encouraging tone. "You don't have to worry about money, and you also don't need a job to survive. Hence, you can do anything you want to do now."
Ah, right.
I'm now a landlord, and I have a monthly allowance that I can use for myself since everything else is provided for me already.
Wow.
"You're right, sir," Sohee said, giving the shaman a sigh of relief. "I can do anything I want now."
***
"YOU'RE done talking to Jung-nim already?"
Sohee wouldn't say that he was surprised to see Kim Heedo waiting for him outside the shaman's praying room.
The kid must have been waiting for quite some time because he looked bored.
"Yes, we had a nice talk," Sohee said while they were walking towards the shaman's house where they were currently staying. "Apparently, Ilsung Group would fall into the hands of an outsider if you don't take good care of me."
"That's right," Kim Heedo admitted while nodding. "When Grandpa heard that, he collapsed from high blood pressure. But it was a blessing in disguise since that was how we found his brain tumor."
"Ah, I see."
"Hyung, I really like how you don't pretend to give a damn about my grandfather."
"Well, I guess I need to be nicer to Chairman Kim from now on."
"Nah, it's my family who has to be nice to you," Kim Heedo corrected him, and then he suddenly changed his topic. "Hyung, can you tell me what you want to do after we get married?"
"Of course. Just don't make fun of me."
"I won't."
The kid looked so serious that Sohee had a hard time keeping a straight face.
"Kim Heedo, what will you do if I say I want to be a stay-at-home mom?"
