Chapter 1 - MINTIRA

Let me introduce myself, My name is Mintira. A 22-year-old woman. I have an ordinary face. As long as I live, I always feel jealous of the people around me.

When I walk among my friends. I feel like I'm drowning. Drowning? Well, because I'm invisible. As if their aura looks more alive. Once, I followed the committee at an event.

I'm like an errand gril. Compared to other pretty girls. Is it because of my brown skin? My acne-prone face? Is it because I'm short? This is all really suffocating.

This jealousy really makes me drown in sadness. What exactly am I looking for validation?

Who knows.

It was already dark, I walked to the nearest supermarket. I wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes and drink canned coffee.

Ckrik… (lighter sound)

I blew out puffs of smoke over and over again. Looking up at the sky with a sad gaze. "Huh." I complained.

The streets were deserted because it was late at night. I looked at my phone. There were no notifications at all. Well, that's normal. Basically, I distanced myself from the crowd.

Plang! (sound of falling pieces of iron)

I was shocked and looked at the pile of iron not far from me.

"Oh, cat." I said, when I noticed a cute black cat that appeared among the pile of iron. "Looks like you got hit. Cuty." I said, approaching the cat. The cat had been meowing since earlier, probably because it was in pain.

After helping him, I put him on the table. "Let me take a look, you." I checked his body, afraid of the injuries he would suffer on his small body.

"I hope you are okay. There are no external injuries. Your legs and body are also fine." I said while stroking him. "Wait a minute. I will buy you some baby food and vitamins." I said, then rushed back into the store.

After buying some cat food and vitamins. I realized the little cat was missing. I immediately packed my things to look for the poor cat.

"Meow. It's me. Come here." I called every time I passed a small alley. "Sigh." I complained.

Drrt Drrt Drrt…

My phone vibrated, "Happy birthday, to me and myself." I said when I saw the reminder on the calendar. It turned out that I was one year older.

I suddenly realized, then could only cry silently. I fell down while hugging myself. "Happy birthday." Said someone who surprised me.

"Who?" I screamed in panic. I woke up and looked for the source of the voice. But, nothing. The voice was like a ghost wandering around. I ran towards my house which was quite far away because I was looking for the little cat.

"Hosh..Hosh.." My breath was uncontrollable because of panic. Without realizing it, I fainted from dehydration. My vision started to blur.

Until the last sound I heard was, "Meow…" the sound of a small cat.
