Chapter 3: Investing in the Future
The sun peeked through the blinds as Leo stretched lazily in bed, his mind still buzzing from yesterday's events. His parents were overjoyed with their new car, and Leo couldn't help but smile at how easy it had been to make them happy. Infinite money. The thought still sounded ridiculous, like the plot of a cheesy novel, but here he was—living it.
As he rubbed his eyes and stared at the ceiling, a thought crept into his mind. What's next?
"College," he mumbled to himself.
Leo wasn't exactly the type to plan far ahead, but he knew college meant independence, study tools, and staying on top of things. His old, battered laptop barely worked anymore, and his phone was as ancient as his middle school memories.
"I guess it's time for an upgrade," he decided, already grabbing his wallet and heading out the door.
The store's glass doors slid open with a gentle whoosh as Leo stepped inside. Rows of glowing screens, shiny gadgets, and cutting-edge tech greeted him. He immediately felt like a kid in a candy store.
A sales associate approached, flashing a professional smile. "Welcome! Can I help you find anything specific?"
Leo nodded. "Yeah, I need a laptop. Something... good. Oh, and maybe a phone. And, uh, a smartwatch too."
"Of course! What's your budget?" the associate asked.
Leo shrugged. "No budget. Just show me the best stuff."
The associate blinked, momentarily stunned, before regaining composure. "Right this way, sir."
What followed was a whirlwind tour of the store's priciest products. Leo didn't care much about specs, but the sales pitch was convincing enough for him to nod at almost everything.
"That's a top-of-the-line laptop with a terabyte SSD and the latest processor."
"Sure, I'll take it."
"This phone has the highest-rated camera on the market."
"Yeah, throw it in."
"This smartwatch can track your heart rate, GPS, and even sleep patterns."
"Sounds good. Add it."
The associate's smile grew wider with every purchase, though his disbelief was palpable.
Leo leaned back on the counter, waiting for the transactions to finish when an old memory surfaced. Emma.
His childhood friend's face flashed in his mind—her bright smile and determined eyes. Despite her family's troubles and their constant need for money, Emma never gave up on her dream of going to college.
Leo snapped his fingers. "Actually, add another laptop to the list. Something same as mine. It's for a friend."
The associate raised an eyebrow but said nothing, quickly processing the addition.
As Leo lugged his bags of high-tech goodies back home, a nagging thought hit him. What if people start asking questions?
He knew his sudden spending could raise suspicion, especially with his parents. He'd need a story—something plausible and airtight.
An idea sparked in his mind. Bitcoin.
Back in the day, he'd bought few Bitcoin as a joke, only to sell it for pocket change months later. He'd regretted it ever since, especially when the price skyrocketed. The system could turn that regret into his perfect alibi.
"Alright, system," he muttered. "can you make it happen."
"yes, creating investment in past 0%....50%.....100%"
Within seconds, his phone buzzed. Opening it, he found a fully detailed Bitcoin wallet, complete with transaction history, timestamps, and even news articles linking to "his" account.
Leo grinned. "I'm a genius."
At dinner, Leo casually brought up his new purchases, emphasizing how they'd help him in college. His parents exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued.
"And where exactly is all this money coming from?" his dad asked, half-joking.
Leo leaned back in his chair, feigning nonchalance. "Funny story, actually. Remember when I bought that Bitcoin years ago?"
His mom frowned. "You mean that silly internet money?"
"Yeah, turns out I didn't sell all of it. I had, uh, about a thousand sitting in an old wallet I forgot about. Checked it recently, and... well, I'm not broke anymore."
Both parents stared at him, mouths agape.
"A thousand?" his dad finally sputtered. "Do you have any idea how much that's worth?"
Leo shrugged, trying to look modest. "Enough to cover college and some extras."
His mom put a hand to her chest. "Oh, Leo, we're so proud of you! And here we thought you were just wasting time online."
Leo chuckled awkwardly. If only they knew.
Later that night, Leo sat in his room, surrounded by his new gadgets. The laptop hummed softly as he set it up, and the smartwatch glinted on his wrist. His phone buzzed with notifications as he explored its features.
He glanced at the extra laptop meant for Emma. A smile appare on his face think the reaction on Emma's face once tell her about bitcoins
As he leaned back in his chair, a grin spread across his face. Life was good, and with the system by his side, it was only going to get better.
