Chapter 3 - Difficult Choice, Embarking on the Journey

Chapter 3

Lin Feng and the others trudged forward in the mountains and forests, their hearts filled with confusion and uneasiness. They didn't know where the road ahead would lead them, nor did they know if they could find that legendary cultivation sect. But the hatred and determination in their hearts were like a burning flame, driving them to move forward continuously.

"Lin Feng, are you really sure that cultivation sect can help us?" Xiaohu asked worriedly as he walked. His face was full of fatigue, but his eyes revealed firmness.

Lin Feng stopped and looked into the distance, with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "I don't know, but this is our only hope at present. The Taoist priest sacrificed himself to protect us. We can't just sit and wait for death. That cultivation sect may have powerful cultivators who can help us take revenge and retrieve the treasure of our village."

Xiaohua beside him also showed a timid expression and gently pulled Lin Feng's 衣角. "Brother Lin Feng, I'm so scared. Will we encounter more dangers?"

Lin Feng squatted down and gently touched Xiaohua's head. "Don't be afraid, Xiaohua. We will be careful. As long as we stick together, we will definitely be able to overcome difficulties."

A Niu clenched his fist, and anger burned in his eyes. "We must avenge the Taoist priest! Those bad people can't get away with it so easily."

Lin Feng stood up and looked at everyone firmly and said, "That's right. We must make that mysterious person pay the price. Now let's continue on our way. No matter what difficulties we encounter, we can't give up."

They continued to 穿梭 through the mountains and forests. The road under their feet was rugged and uneven, and the surrounding trees became denser and denser. The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, forming patches of dappled light. Lin Feng secretly pondered in his heart whether they could really find that cultivation sect and whether they could get the help of cultivators.

As time passed, they gradually felt extremely tired. Hunger and thirst also began to torment them. Xiaohu couldn't help complaining, "How long will it take to reach our destination? I'm almost starving to death."

Lin Feng also felt a bit helpless, but he knew that he couldn't let everyone lose confidence. "Everyone hold on a little longer. Maybe there will be water and food ahead. We can't give up."

Just when they were feeling desperate, they suddenly heard the sound of gurgling water. Excitedly, they ran in the direction of the sound and indeed found a clear brook. Everyone couldn't wait to rush to the brook and scoop up water to drink. The cool stream water moistened their parched throats, making them feel extremely comfortable.

"Great, there's finally water." Xiaohua said happily.

Looking at everyone's satisfied expressions, Lin Feng felt a little relieved. "Let's rest here for a while and see if we can find some food by the way."

They rested by the brook for a while and then began to look for food around. Fortunately, they found some wild fruits and mushrooms. Although these foods were not abundant, they could temporarily relieve their hunger.

After eating and drinking their fill, they continued on their journey. However, not long after they walked, the sky suddenly darkened and clouds gathered. Soon, a downpour fell. They searched everywhere for a place to shelter from the rain and finally found refuge in a cave.

The cave was dark and damp, but at least it could protect them from the rain. They huddled together, their hearts filled with uneasiness. Looking at everyone's frightened expressions, Lin Feng tried to stay calm.

"Don't be afraid, everyone. This is just a rainstorm. It will pass soon." Lin Feng comforted.

Xiaohu huddled close to Lin Feng, his voice trembling a little. "Lin Feng, I'm so scared. Will we be trapped here forever?"

Lin Feng held Xiaohu's hand and transmitted strength to him. "No, we will continue on our way as soon as the rain stops. We will definitely find the cultivation sect."

The waiting time in the cave was extremely long. The rain continuously dripped from the entrance of the cave, making a crisp sound. Lin Feng's mind was filled with thoughts. He remembered every bit of the village and the care and teachings of the Taoist priest. He secretly swore that he must avenge the village and make those bad people receive due punishment.

Finally, the rain stopped. They walked out of the cave and continued on their journey. After the rain, the air in the mountain forest was exceptionally fresh. There were crystal-clear water droplets hanging on the leaves, like jewels. Lin Feng took a deep breath, feeling the beauty of nature, and his belief became even more firm.

After walking for a while, they encountered a wide river. The river was swift and the waves were turbulent. They stood by the river, looking at the rolling river water, and their hearts were filled with helplessness.

"What should we do now? We can't cross it." A Niu said anxiously.

Lin Feng frowned and thought about a countermeasure. "We can't give up just like that. Maybe we can find some branches and vines and make a simple raft and then row across."

Everyone nodded in agreement and began to look for suitable materials around. After some effort, they finally made a crude raft. Lin Feng carefully pushed the raft into the river and then took everyone onto the raft.

The raft swayed in the river water and was in danger of being swept away at any time. Lin Feng tightly held the edge of the raft, his heart filled with tension. He constantly encouraged everyone and asked them to stay calm.

"Don't be afraid, everyone. As long as we work together, we will definitely be able to cross the river safely." Lin Feng said loudly.

Under Lin Feng's leadership, they tried hard to row the raft and struggle against the swift river. After a difficult effort, they finally succeeded in crossing the river. After landing, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and there was a tired but relieved smile on their faces.

"We finally made it across." Xiaohu said excitedly.

Looking at everyone, Lin Feng was filled with emotion. "This is just a small challenge on our journey. There will be more difficulties waiting for us later. But we can't be afraid. We must face them bravely."

They continued on their way. After an unknown amount of time, they finally saw a small town. The town was bustling with people coming and going. Excitedly, they walked towards the town, hoping to get some help there.

Entering the town, they were attracted by the sight before them. There were various shops on both sides of the street, and people were busily shuttling among them. Lin Feng and the others felt both excited and nervous. They didn't know where to start looking for clues about the cultivation sect.

"What should we do now?" Xiaohua asked.

Lin Feng thought for a while and said, "Let's find a place to ask about news of the cultivation sect first. Maybe someone knows where they are."

They asked around in the town, but most people knew nothing about the cultivation sect. Just when they were feeling disappointed, an old man appeared in front of them.

The old man looked at them, with a wise glint in his eyes. "Children, are you looking for a cultivation sect?"

Lin Feng and the others looked at the old man in surprise and quickly nodded. "Yes, grandpa. Do you know where the cultivation sect is?"

The old man smiled slightly and said, "Cultivation sects are not so easy to find. But I can give you some guidance. Follow this road and you will encounter a high mountain. On that mountain, it is said that there is a secluded place of a cultivator. Maybe you can find some clues there."

Lin Feng and the others looked at the old man gratefully. "Thank you, grandpa. We will definitely find the cultivation sect."

They followed the old man's guidance and walked towards that high mountain. Their hearts were filled with expectation and hope. They didn't know what they would encounter on that mountain, but they firmly believed that as long as they didn't give up, they would definitely be able to find the cultivation sect and avenge the Taoist priest and the village.
