Chapter 4
Lin Feng and the others set off towards the high mountain in the direction pointed out by the old man. Along the way, their moods were both nervous and expectant. They didn't know what they would encounter on that mountain, but their beliefs became stronger and stronger.
"Lin Feng, do you think we can really find cultivators on the mountain?" Xiaohu asked as he walked, a hint of worry in his eyes.
Lin Feng frowned slightly. After thinking for a moment, he said, "I don't know, but we must try. This is our only hope to avenge the Taoist priest."
Xiaohua followed closely beside Lin Feng, her face full of uneasiness. "Brother Lin Feng, I'm so scared. What if we can't find cultivators?"
Lin Feng gently patted Xiaohua's shoulder and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, Xiaohua. We will definitely find them. Even if we can't find them, we can't give up."
A Niu clenched his fist, and anger burned in his eyes. "We must find cultivators and avenge the Taoist priest!"
They continued on their way. The mountain path became steeper and steeper, and the surrounding environment became more and more perilous. Lin Feng walked carefully, always paying attention to the surrounding situation. He knew that in this wild mountain range, danger could strike at any time.
As they continued to climb, the air became thinner and thinner. Everyone felt a bit difficult to breathe, but no one complained and they all persevered silently. Looking at everyone's tired looks, Lin Feng was filled with emotion. He knew that these companions were all working hard for the same goal, which was to avenge the Taoist priest.
Finally, they reached the top of the mountain. The top of the mountain was shrouded in clouds and mist, like a fairyland. They looked around but didn't see any traces of cultivators.
"Is there really going to be cultivators here?" Xiaohu said disappointedly.
Lin Feng also felt a bit lost, but he quickly adjusted his mindset. "Let's look carefully again. Maybe cultivators are hidden somewhere."
They began to search carefully on the top of the mountain, not missing any corner. However, as time passed by, they still didn't find any traces of cultivators. Everyone's mood gradually became heavy.
"Did we come all this way for nothing?" There was a hint of crying in Xiaohua's voice.
Lin Feng was also full of disappointment, but he knew that he couldn't let everyone lose confidence. "Don't be discouraged. Maybe cultivators are not on the top of the mountain but in other places on the mountain. Let's look around again."
They walked down the mountain path, hoping to find traces of cultivators in the mountainside or valley. Along the way, they encountered various difficulties and obstacles, but they didn't give up.
In a valley, they found an ancient temple. The temple seemed to have been abandoned for a long time, but it still exuded a mysterious aura. Lin Feng's heart moved. He felt that this temple might be related to cultivators.
"Let's go and take a look at that temple." Lin Feng suggested.
Everyone nodded in agreement and followed Lin Feng towards the temple. When they walked into the temple, a stale smell greeted them. The temple was covered with dust and cobwebs. Obviously, no one had been here for a long time.
They looked around in the temple, hoping to find some clues. Suddenly, Xiaohu let out a cry of surprise.
"Look, there's a book here!" Xiaohu pointed to a corner and said.
Lin Feng and others quickly ran over. They saw a tattered book lying there quietly. Lin Feng carefully picked up the book and opened it. The book recorded some cultivation methods and legends about immortality, as well as some mysterious patterns and symbols.
"This book must be very important!" Lin Feng said excitedly.
They continued to search in the temple and found some other items, such as an ancient sword, an incense burner, and some strange stones. These items all exuded a mysterious aura, making them very curious.
"Could these things be left by cultivators?" Xiaohua asked.
Lin Feng nodded and said, "It's very possible. Let's take these things with us. Maybe they will be useful later."
After packing up these items and just as they were about to leave the temple, they suddenly heard a strange sound. The sound seemed to come from the depths of the temple, making people's hair stand on end.
"What's that sound?" Xiaohu asked in horror.
Lin Feng looked around vigilantly and said, "Be careful, everyone. There may be danger."
They carefully walked towards the direction of the sound. As they got closer, the sound became louder and louder. Finally, they came to the entrance of a basement. The door of the basement was closed, but the sound kept coming from inside.
Lin Feng hesitated for a moment and then said, "Let's go in and take a look."
Although everyone was a bit scared, they still followed Lin Feng into the basement. The basement was dark and damp, filled with a stench. They walked carefully, their hearts full of tension.
After walking for a while, they saw a huge cave. There was a faint light shining in the cave, as if there was something inside. Lin Feng and others slowly approached the cave. When they saw what was inside, they were all stunned.
There were all kinds of strange instruments and magic treasures in the cave, as well as some glittering gems. In the center of the cave, there was a stone platform. On the stone platform sat an old man with white hair. The old man had his eyes closed tightly, as if he was in a deep sleep.
"What is this place?" Xiaohu asked in surprise.
Lin Feng was also very shocked. He slowly walked towards the stone platform and carefully observed the old man. The old man exuded a powerful aura, making Lin Feng feel an inexplicable pressure.
"Senior, are you a cultivator?" Lin Feng asked respectfully.
The old man didn't answer and still kept his eyes closed. Lin Feng and others didn't know what to do. They could only stand there quietly and wait for the old man's response.
After a while, the old man slowly opened his eyes. His eyes revealed a profound wisdom that made people 不敢直视.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" The old man's voice was deep and powerful.
Lin Feng quickly replied, "Senior, we are villagers from a small mountain village. Our village was attacked by a mysterious person. The Taoist priest sacrificed himself to protect us. We heard that there are cultivators here, so we came to seek help and hope to avenge the Taoist priest."
The old man frowned slightly. After thinking for a moment, he said, "So that's it. Your experience is indeed pitiful. But the road to immortality is long and arduous, not as simple as you imagine. Are you really ready?"
Lin Feng said firmly, "Senior, we are ready. No matter how difficult it is, we must avenge the Taoist priest."
The old man looked at Lin Feng and others, and there was a hint of appreciation in his eyes. "Well, since you are so determined, I will give you a chance. There are some tests here. If you can pass them, I will teach you the methods of immortality cultivation and help you take revenge."
Lin Feng and others were filled with joy and expectation when they heard this. They knew that this was their chance, a chance to change their destiny.
"Thank you, senior! We will definitely not let you down." Lin Feng said gratefully.
The old man nodded. Then, with a wave of his hand, a flash of light passed. The scene in front of them changed. They came to a strange place. All around was a vast desert.
"This is the first test. You have to find water in this desert and survive. If you can do it, you will enter the next test." The old man's voice sounded in their ears.
Lin Feng and others looked at the desert in front of them, full of challenges. They knew that this would be a difficult test, but they didn't back down. They resolutely walked into the desert.
