In circles the dragon flew, as it roared. With a vicious look in the beast's eyes, it stared down on the preys that were all running towards the two large buildings.
Panting, Caroline was running towards the buildings. Her eyes were directed towards her classroom as she was outside with her asian friend and many other children who were running in a similar direction. The more she ran, the blurrier her vision got and the further her asian friend's position got from her. The muscles in her legs started getting heavier, her heart felt as if it was shrinking. Her locomotion became unbalanced and her upper body went ahead of her lower body.
She tumbled towards the ground and fell on her chest.
Jacquade was in the corridor of the warrior building along with many other students. '
"Wait! Isn't Caroline still outside!?" Jacquade said in a high pitch, while standing on his toes and staring at the children running towards his direction. The only thing that he could see were many students and noises of screaming.
"It doesn't make much sense we move currently, because we don't know where she is." Zack replied with a straight face looking in the same direction.
Children were running from both left and right of the buildings, and towards them. Most were screaming.
As Caroline rose her head using her palms facing the ground, her vision was still blurry. On her knees, she looked ahead and was only seeing pink colours. As the blur reduced, her eyebrows rose simultaneously.
In front of Caroline was the dragon facing a girl, a few feet away from where Caroline stood. The girl's feet went backwards slowly, as the deep green eyes stared at her. She stumbled and fell on her butt with her head fixated in front of her. A loud scream of agony could be heard.
Caroline, still looking ahead, slowly placed her left hand over her shoulder and reached for her bow. She detached it from her back and held it in her hands. She looked across her right shoulder as she took out an arrow and placed it in the bow. She fixed the arrow in the bow and directed her attention towards the dragon. Her eyes expanded in terror and she froze. Dub! Dub! This dubbing sound slowly increased as she looked at the beast. Her hand trembled slightly as she couldn't get it to fixate well on the dragon.
The upper body of the girl was in the dragon's mouth and its wings were flapping quickly. Caroline pointed the arrow towards the dragon's head. The body of the dragon slowly elevated from the ground with the girl in its mouth. Its wings flapped and flapped. Caroline's hands shaked as she pointed it at the dragon. She raised the bow slightly, and she swiftly released the arrow.
It flew straight towards the dragon head, but at the last moment it lowered. The arrow hit the left shoulder of the dragon. It stumbled to its left while flapping its wings. Caroline placed her right hand above her right shoulder and fixed an arrow inside the bow again. She looked ahead towards the building. Only a few children were still running while a lot were in the corridor looking outwards, pointing and shouting.
She exhaled and stood up, then looked around. She then looked up, as the look of bewilderment grew across her face. No sight of the dragon was seen. It disappeared with its meal and left Caroline staring at the sky.
Caroline sighed with sweat running down her face. A look of disappointment awoke across her face. She lowered her head with the bow in her hands. With her head facing down she exhaled heavily. "That's the thing that killed Renard. If it was Tes, she would've saved everyone seeing how courageous she tends to be. It's… my fault the girl will die… If only I had more courage."
The sun shifted a few degrees across the sky. The temperature of the atmosphere remained the same. Noises inside the classes got louder and louder, as both the mages and warrior's school block appeared to be competing for a higher disturbance throughout the school compound.
In the same warrior's class that Zack and Jacquade was in, there appears Caroline. She was in an elevated discussion with many other students surrounding her, all standing at the back of the class. Loud discussions ran at all corners of the classroom. The squeaking of the chairs had a high pitch as the vibrations could be felt through all sections of the floor.
At the front of the class was Zack, walking from left to right in an agitated manner. He was stamping his feet, clapping his hands and exhaling louding.
Jacquade, sitting closeby to Zack, had the right side of his face in his right palm, eyes wide-open while staring at the floor. Different shoes passed by reflected in his eyes, as he stared continuously.
After constantly walking back and forth, Zack halted. He then looked at Jacquade and stated with a high-pitched tone, "Holy shit dude! I still can't believe I saw a dragon killing a girl. Why the hell was there a dragon on the campus anyways?!"
Slowly, Jacquade raised his head towards him. "It's been about 2 hours now and I still can't answer that. The closest place to where dragons live is east at The Unresting Mountains. That's a huge distance from where we are currently. All I know is that it seems like it was a sensitised dragon."
"A what!?" Zack asked.
"A Sensitised dragon. It is a type of dragon who wasn't born with an outer skin."
"Oh, I…"
Zack's eyes and mouth expanded as glimpses of persons walked passed him towards the left direction. A quick turn of the head and he saw three girls walking towards the door.
The two tallest girls of the three were at the front walking, while the shortest one was trailing. With a quick burst of speed he ran and touched the right shoulder of the tallest girl - the one walking on the left.
All three girls stopped walking and turned around looking at him. The girl's shoulder whom he touched, slightly nodded her head horizontally. She raised her left eyebrow and looked at Zack.
With narrowed eyes Zack said, "Where are you going?"
"Where would we possibly be going?" She said while she slanted her head towards the left.
"You're not planning on going around the lake!?"
She lowered her head along with her eyebrows, opened her mouth slightly while she stared at him. She then asked "How scared do I look!? Besides, those pricks wouldn't want to let us in anyways."
Jacquade, watching and listening to the conversation, then decided to do a quick step-up towards them. He then stood beside Zack. He rested his left elbow on Zack's right shoulder then looked at him. "I'm pretty sure they're going to the end of the block."
A wry look came across Zack's face. He looked at Jacquade and replied "but no one's there. Aren't they all gone to RMYS for like a week or so."
The second tallest girl of three, sighed. With a lazy-face, she looked at her friend - the girl Zack was talking to. "I don't have time for this."
Her friend then waved her right hand in front of Zack's face. He looked towards her as she replied "I'm going now, okay?"
She walked off, followed by her friends.
"Be safe!" he remarked.
She waved, showing the dorsal side of her right hand. "Thanks. I'm sure that will help."
