Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Shift

Falling for a woman as pretty and sexy as Emma means that John had to spend more time

together even though he developed some nervousness. He had gotten so accustomed to valuing

himself by the accomplishments of SnowCorp financial status and had always assumed that

money made was the way to go. Yet the fact that this girl was giving herself for other people,

worrying about them, help when nobody expected her to have to, sadly touched him deeper than

anything else. It was as if a curtain had been lifted off his eyes and he was no longer looking at

the world via the medium of numbers and acquisitions. Her strength, her continued battling with

families barely living, these things trumped all the dogma that he had once known for certain.

Emma's suggestion seemed to permeate his world with all things essential in an almost

undetected manner. He started going to community meetings, formal and informal, and thus, not

as John, the wealthy pig-banker who wanted to fund and sponsor the community but more as a

civilian John. These were not the kind of parties; he had been use to and there were no waxed

floors, no evening gowns, no champagne glasses, no photography. But they meant feeding him in

crowded church basements, Neighborhood Centers and shelters. That was why he saw the real

people's lives, the real existence where some people have lives that are much worse than what

they portray, yet they are happy, they still hope. He initially had the feeling of being exposed and

overdressed, dressed in designer dressed; however Emma was constant with him as she showed

him families who lost everything but are strong as long as they have the family with them.

Emma's suggestion seemed to permeate his world with all things essential in an almost

undetected manner. He started going to community meetings, formal and informal, and thus, not

as John, the wealthy pig-banker who wanted to fund and sponsor the community but more as a

civilian John. These were not the kind of parties; he had been use to and there were no waxed

overdressed, dressed in designer dressed; however Emma was constant with him as she showed

Exploring deeper into this new world he found one version of himself he had no idea existed. As

he grew older, he started going around trying to build relationships which he lost when he was in

the process of upward mobility. He spent time with his mother, the only one who had ever told

him to get his feet on the ground. John is learning that he is vulnerable enough to say that he was

wrong and open enough actually to learn what that means. Not only was Emma able to break him

down but she was able to also teach him to let it out, to be the real him that he was.

Emma also felt the differences They have grown apart, Sextus and Lucretia the same as Rollo

and I. The proud billionaire who looked down at everyone now was able to laugh, tell jokes, and

move his hands to work alongside her at the shelters. The barriers he had erected in his life were

gradually being dismantled, and in their place the man of ambition and achievement was

replaced by a man motivated by the goal of changing his success into something productive. This

changed life scenario touched Emma most when he saw how it was so difficult for him to

embrace such life style contrary to what the society had instilled in him from childhood.

It was not only love but also synchronization and two people who wanted the same thing in life.

They competed with each other, mentored each other and met personal development the neither

foresaw. John's world – which had been bleak, empty, and desolate before – was warm,

meaningful and the office filled the emptiness John had never known he had.

So, in choosing to walk Emma's path, John wasn't building a new legacy for SnowCorp, he was

building a new legacy for himself. A man with money who was defined not by the amount he

made, but the people he had touched, the lives he had changed and the love that had impacted

him. As he stood beside Emma's side, he knew that this was only the beginning of a journey he

already knew would make us richer than we'd ever otherwise be.mself. Not the money he'd

made, but the lives he'd changed, which he'd made touch, the love that had gone his way. He

could sense this was only the start of a journey which already saw him more rich than he'd ever

been; and as he stood by Emma's side, he knew.
