Chapter 4 - Chapter-4

There were three ways to take care of the side effects of the yin constitution. If the constitution was known from birth, the woman who had the constitution could be treated with items which had yang nature. If it can't be healed at birth, the other two ways were either to find Phoenix Flamefruit which was rare or find a male with the yang constitution. Of course between the two, finding the fruit had better chances than finding a male with the yang constitution. He didn't go find Laura, but waited for dinner. Since it was being fine right now, he could figure out slowly.

There was a knock on the door and Laura who was now differently was at the door.

"Rex, let's go"

"Mom has already prepared dinner"

"Okay, Laura-nee"

At the dinner table, only Laura, Rex and Aunt Mei were there.

"Eat more dear, I prepared all these dishes specially for you"

He looked at the variety of dishes on the table and knew that she still remembered all the dishes he liked and should have even known more from his mother.

"Thank you Aunt Mei"

"By the way, where are Sarah and Alisia"

"Oh, they went to visit their relatives since its nearing Lantern Festival"

"Laura wanted to stay since she wanted to keep me company"

"It's nearing the time of Lantern Festival"

"Right, its also around that time already"

"They said that they would be back after the Festival"

"The village also had already started preparing"

"Even though it has not started, there are still many things which can be experienced beforehand"

"How about you and Laura go to the west of the village, there is a night market there"

"There are many good stores there"

"I will make sure to visit it with Laura-nee"

"Aunt I have a question"

"Wasn't Laura-nee tested to also have ice attribute"

"Why doesn't she use it though"

"Her grandpa, my father tested her talent"

"He said that even though her talent with ice is good, it's not as good as her wind element"

"And that the ice element should not be practiced because it might hurt her body"

"When she tried to practice the element, it made her unable to sleep due to the cold"

Hearing that, Rex knew that his grandfather from his mother's side should know something about Laura but kept it quiet. Most people who had high talent for more than one attribute would train more than one if they have the chance in order to expand their range of abilities.

He also noticed something while he asked that, Laura seemed to stop for a moment when he asked about it as if she knew something.

After they finished their dinner, Laura and Madeleine started to carry the plates and Rex helped them though they tried to stop him, they couldn't stop his sincerity and accepted his help.

Later, Rex stepped out of his room, dressed in a simple black colour wear which was in opposition with his silver hair. He glanced at Laura who was now wearing jeans and a white blouse.

"Are you ready to go"

They arrived at the black market which was led by Laura. Similar to how he was dragged by her through the mansion, she led him this time as well. Showing one shop after another trying out food one by one. During the time, he also looked at his message log and saw that his points indeed increased with Laura.

Laura nodded, a playful light in her eyes as she took his hand. They navigated through the cobblestone streets of the village, illuminated by lanterns strung between rooftops and glowing in hues of red and gold. The night market bustled with activity. Merchants called out their wares, musicians played lively tunes, and the aroma of grilled meats and sweet pastries filled the air.

Laura's excitement was evident as she dragged Rex from one stall to another, sampling treats and marvelling at trinkets. Rex watched her fondly, his heart warming at the way her laughter rang out, clear and carefree. Even though it has been long since they haven't met, seeing her get back closer to him without trouble made his heart ease a bit.

They soon stopped at a game stall where participants threw darts at balloons to win prizes. Laura looked at the stuffy white bear which was placed as one of the prizes and her eyes sparkled. She paid for ten darts and started shooting but she didn't get enough points to get it. The points were graded with the colours of the balloons and if paid enough, one would get the prize with more darts but seeing that she didn't want to use any more money,

"Rex, let's go"

She tugged him and tried to walk holding his arm but she wasn't able to move as he stood in place, paying the owner for ten darts. Seeing that he also wanted to play, she stopped and waited, releasing his arm.

Throwing the dart at the balloons, the red balloons which were of 10 points were gotten one after another. The stall owner's brows shot up as the last balloon popped, making the crowd murmur in awe.

"I haven't seen such accuracy in years"

"Young man, which reward do you want"

For these kinds of people just in case there would be the owner always set a rule where each person can only get 100 points for max. He was glad that he set that rule long ago despite his friends saying he shouldn't. Rex pointed at the white teddy bear, and the owner handed it over with a grin.

Even though he didn't have cultivation no longer his body and muscles were still trained to the brim and because of his accurate control of his body and muscle memory, he was able to get the max points.

"Laura-nee, here"

Giving the white teddy bear to Laura, she was surprised.

"It's something you won, you don't need to give it to me"

"You can give it to someone else if you want to"

"But I played it for Laura-nee"

With him stuffing the bear at her, she had to hold it or else the bear would drop to the ground. Though it was still with plastic covering, she wouldn't necessarily drop it for no reason. She smiled and accepted the gift. The stall owner commented,

"Young man, you are very lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend"

Before Rex had a chance to explain that they were cousins, a ripple of applause broke out among the onlookers, and someone even whistled. Her face turned crimson, and she quickly tugged Rex away, hiding behind the bear's plush head.

The date ended and they came back to the mansion. On the way back, they walked under the night sky with the road lamps shining on the road they walked.

"Laura-nee"

He called out to her as she hid her face behind the teddy bear.

"Ye…s"

"Can I ask something specific"

She nodded her head.

"Have you experienced anything before"

"Like feeling unnaturally cold"

She sighed, her eyes darting away. "No."

He knew that she was lying since even though she looked calm, there was a slight tremor in her fingers. It was something which he used to see whether she was lying or not, never telling her.

"I know you are lying, Laura-nee"

She sighed knowing she couldn't lie in front of him. She didn't know how but every since little, he somehow always knew whether she was lying or not.

"Can you tell me about it"

"I promise I won't tell aunt"

"You promise"

He nodded.

"Pinky swear"

Holding out his pinky finger he locked it with hers.

"It started about when I was young…"
