Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Call to Adventure

The deck of Alvida's ship, with Coby nervously cleaning up after the battle.

The deck of Alvida's ship was eerily quiet now, save for the rhythmic creaking of the ship swaying gently in the waves. The pirates were gone, having fled to lifeboats the moment their captain was defeated. Luffy stood at the edge of the deck, arms crossed, gazing out at the endless expanse of blue sea.

Coby scurried across the ship, dragging a mop half his size. He worked quickly, though his wide eyes constantly darted toward Luffy, his awe from earlier still fresh.

"Luffy..." Coby began hesitantly, glancing up from his cleaning. "How did you do that? You didn't just beat Alvida-you destroyed her!"

Luffy turned, a grin stretching across his face. "It's all about training. My gramps made me work super hard when I was a kid. He always said if I wanted to be strong, I had to push myself past my limits every day."

Coby blinked. "Your... grandfather?"

"Yep!" Luffy laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "He's a real monster, you know. He used to throw me into forests full of beasts just to 'toughen me up.' And if I tried to run, he'd catch me and punch me so hard I'd see stars."

Coby paled. "That... that sounds horrible."

Luffy shrugged. "It worked, didn't it? I learned how to fight and started figuring out Haki."

"Haki?" Coby tilted his head. "Is that what you were using back there? The way you broke Alvida's club and knocked her out with just one punch?"

Luffy nodded. "Yeah! It's this power that everyone has, but only a few people know how to use. There are three types: Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's. Observation lets you sense things, even if you can't see them. Armament makes your attacks stronger and protects you. And Conqueror's... well, it's for knocking weaklings out."

Coby's mouth fell open. "You mean... you can just sense where attacks are coming from? That's incredible!"

"It's not that big a deal," Luffy replied casually, sitting cross-legged on the deck. "You just have to train really hard. My gramps started with Observation and Armament when I was little, but I still have a long way to go."

Coby stared at Luffy, his admiration growing with every word. "You make it sound so simple... but I don't think I could ever do something like that."

Luffy tilted his head. "Why not? You want to be strong, don't you?"

"I..." Coby hesitated, clutching the mop tighter. "I've always dreamed of joining the Marines. But someone like me... I don't think I'm cut out for it."

Luffy's grin widened. "Then change that. If you want to be strong, start working for it now. If you don't chase your dream, who will?"

Setting Sail

Before Coby could respond, a loud creak echoed through the ship as Luffy grabbed hold of the helm.

"Hey, what are you doing?!" Coby exclaimed, scrambling after him.

"Setting course for the next island!" Luffy shouted, spinning the wheel with reckless enthusiasm.

"But... but this is Alvida's ship!"

"Not anymore," Luffy said matter-of-factly. "She's not using it, is she?"

Coby opened his mouth to protest, but the determination in Luffy's eyes silenced him. With a resigned sigh, he muttered, "I guess this makes us pirates now..."

"Not you," Luffy corrected. "You're just hitching a ride until we get to a Marine base. After that, you're on your own."

Coby blinked, startled. "You'd really do that for me?"

"Of course," Luffy said, grinning. "What's the point of being strong if you can't help your friends?"

As the ship sailed into open waters, the horizon stretched endlessly before them. Luffy leaned against the railing, the wind whipping through his hair. He clenched his fists, his mind racing with thoughts of the Grand Line and the challenges ahead.

"I'll need to get even stronger," he muttered to himself. "There are going to be people out there with Haki way better than mine. And without a Devil Fruit, I can't rely on tricks. It's all going to come down to my willpower."

Behind him, Coby watched silently, his own thoughts churning. Luffy's words from earlier echoed in his mind: "If you don't chase your dream, who will?"

For the first time in years ,Coby felt a spark of hope
