Chapter 1 - Spirit Academy

1/1/25 5:00 PM

A boy with light blue hair and bright blue eyes hurriedly sprinted across the road nearly getting hit on the way over to the other side.

Mako: "Jeez that was close, I should really pay more attention to my surroundings."

The boy sighed and quickly went back to running. A building the size of a large college soon came into view. Makos eyes lit up as he ran to the front entrance. The sounds of hundreds of people talking filled the air as Mako entered the building. An intercom buzzed making the chatter die down.

Intercom: "I'm sure you all are excited about the invitation to our once in a lifetime experience, Spirit Academy."

Intercom: "As you know, this academy has been around for over 100 years and has had an exceptional reputation for creating some of if not the best spirit wielders and even soldiers Germany has ever seen."

Intercom: "Here at spirit academy we will not only teach you about our world but what you all have come here for... to unlock your spirit and reach true Divinity!"

The crowd quickly erupted into cheers and excitement. Mako in particular though had a look in his eyes, one which could not be described as anything more than true excitement.

Intercom: "Now how about we get to business, shall we? Follow the two guards upfront, they will lead you to your dormitories."

The intercom buzzed and the crowd of students followed the guards. Students looked around in astonishment to the building's interior. They soon reached a large reception desk. The reception desk workers quickly began handing out cards with numbers on them.

Mako: "This is going to take too long."

Mako huffed a sigh of annoyance and began shoving students to the side. It wasn't long until he finally reached the reception desk and snatched a card.

Mako: "320.... you're kidding me?! Jesus this is going to take a while."

Mako let out a soft growl of frustration before making his way down the long corridors. Looking around, he realized that there's no elevator and facepalmed.

Mako: "you'd think 100 years of advancements and funds from the government they'd install an elevator christ sake."

Shaking his head, mako walked up two flights of stairs and onto the third level of the school.

Mako: "318... 319... and here we are."

Mako raised the card and swiped it on the scanner attached to the door. As he opened the door, the strong odor of cologne hit him in the face like a rock.

Mako: "Aw hell what is that smell, it's so damn strong!"

Mako quickly covered his nose and looked around for the source of the smell. A boy with a dark complexion and eyes so yellow it felt as if they were peering into Makos soul sat upon one of the beds.

Mako: "Hey not to be that guy but that cologne is NOT it man."

The boy sat in silence for a moment before darting his glare elsewhere.

Mako: "Sorry that's pretty messed up for me to say for a first introduction, the names Makarios but everyone calls me Mako."

Mako smiled and walked Infront of the boy with his hand out, ready for a handshake.

Mikail: "Mikail, just Mikail."

The boy said in hesitation as he grabbed Makos hand. They shook hands and both chuckled slightly.

Mako: "Hey man you should ease up; I'm not going to bite"

Mikail smiled slightly and nodded his head. Mako turned his attention to the other bed and sat his bag on it. surveying the room, he realized there was only one bathroom and a small kitchen. Nodding his head slightly in approval, Mako unpacked his stuff.

Intercom: "Once you all are ready, come to the auditorium located near the entrance."

Mako looked at Mikail and gestured for them to leave. Mikail nodded and stood up. The boys made their way out of the room and back down to the entrance of the building. As they neared the auditorium, the guards gestured for them to enter.

Mako looked around for a seat and quickly made way towards one. Mikail unsure of where to sit hurriedly followed. As they sat down the doors behind them slammed shut and a light shined down on the stage Infront of them. A man and woman dressed in formal clothing both held a mic and said hello simultaneously.

Male announcer: "Welcome all, we are very glad to have you up and coming spirit wielders!"

Male announcer: "You all know why you're here and so do we so Let's just get straight to business."

Female announcer: "I'm sure you all are wondering how you will unlock these spirits, but don't you worry we have a little something to mass awaken all of you."

Everyone looked in confusion as the Male announcer pulled out a glowing stone and began speaking in a forgotten language. Suddenly a massive wave of red mystical energy blasted through the air hitting all the students in the process.

Mako held his chest while a sharp pain flowed through his chest and abdomen. Many students groaned in pain until suddenly the pain vanished.

Male announcer: "I'm sorry about the pain you all just endured but it's the only way to mass awaken you all."

Female announcer: "Now if you all notice, you can see aura flowing around the students around you. Thier aura amount and color will determine their current strength and energy level."

Mako briefly turned his attention towards Mikail and to his surprise a large amount of aura flowed around him.

Mako: "Mikail your eyes?? why are they purple?!"

Mikail: "What? what are you talking about?"

Mikail grabbed his phone and turned on the camera. His eyes widened in disbelief. He darted his attention back to Mako, but a confused expression formed.

Mikail: "Your eyes are still blue?"

Mako: "Huh that's odd, maybe you're special dude"

They both chuckled and turned their attention back to the announcers. The male announcer gestured for someone and out walked a guard with a machine. As the guard finished pushing the machine onto stage, the announcers waved him off.

Female announcer: "This will only take a moment."

The woman placed her hand on the machine, and it began to glow. Green aura covered each student rapidly. The machine then made a loud beep noise.

Machine: "DATA SURVERY COMPLETE"

The green aura quickly vanished, and the male announcer pushed it off into the back.

Female announcer: "You may all go back to your dorms, that was all."

Confused about what just happened, Mako and Mikail stood up and made their way back to their dorm. As they entered the dorm and closed the door, they both looked at each other in confusion.

Mako: "What the hell just happened? I'm still so lost on the situation?!"

Mikail: "Right??"

Mikail walked over to his bed and sat down. Mako followed but stopped to the sound of something being slid under their door. He turned and walked over to the door. sitting on the floor was two envelopes with a wax crest on them. Grabbing them, Mako flipped them over to reveal their names on the envelopes.

Mikail stood back up and grabbed the one with his name on it from Mako. Upon opening it a folded sheet and pin sat within.

Mikail: "Huh strange they gave me a pin with a lion on it."

Mako: "Oh damn so you're in the 3rd rank which is right above the lowest rank."

Mikail with a slightly disappointed expression grabbed the folded paper within. Unfolding it, a large summary of his stats was shown along with a room number and a congratulation on joining the academy. Mako slowly opened his and pulled out a pin with a beetle on it.

Mako: "You're kidding me..."

Mikail erupted in laughter as Mako held the pin in disappointment.

Mako: "HEY DONT LAUGH MAYBE IT WAS A MISTAKE OR THAT MACHINE CAN'T SEE MY FULL POTENIAL!"

Mikail giggled and waved his hand. He then laid his items on the nightstand and sat on his bed. Mako sighed and laid down in bed with his pin in hand.

Mako: "Am I really that pathetic...?"

Mako slowly closed his eyes and fell asleep.
