"You guys slept together?" she shrieked, clutching her chest dramatically. Heads turned in our direction. "You guys ate together?" She repeated, louder this time, for the benefit of the onlookers.
I felt redness cover my whole face. "We slept on the same bed, Rayah, and not the whole night, and nothing else happened." My voice carried a twinge of annoyance.
"You little lying slut." She whispered, eyeing the length of me. "I see that man and if I was in bed with him—no scratch that—if I was in the same room with him even, I would gobble him up like warm rabbit stew." she made a slurping motion.
"What?" I burst out laughing, unable to help myself.
"You think you're the only one with eyes?? I've been looking, honey, he just doesn't look back," she huffed, squeezing out her little annoyance on a stem we were passing. "Has eyes for another, the clueless man."
