I admittedly wrote this at a very bad time, as finals week is this week, but we inevitably persist. Enjoy the chapter, and give me constructive criticism in the comments.
(James POV)
"Hey, asshole! Wake the fuck up and get out of my dumpster!"
I heard as I stirred from my unconsciousness and slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I noticed was that it stunk heavily. The raw stench of sulfur permeated the air, taking hold of my nostrils and not letting go at all. The second thing was the sky; it was a dark crimson with a pentagram that looked like a substitute for the moon. I hurriedly sat up and maneuvered myself out of the garbage bags and onto the ground in the alley I was in, where I saw the voice that was cursing me out earlier.
It was a fat demon with emerald green eyes with an angry gaze. His skin was red and had obsidian black horns that did not match his clothes of a bright red clown uniform. "Hey buddy, get to stepping, unless you're gonna pay rent, then get the fuck out of here." He said with a thick New York accent, I stuttered out an apology and booked it out of the alley.
I went into the street and saw various demons taking different shapes and sizes, green, yellow, and red, and not to mention their monstrous appearances, these people looked humanoid in the weirdest sense of the word. The building looked distorted, shapes taking forms I never dreamed of and also forms I imagined were quite dangerous, while still having the dark red motif as the rest of this place. I quickly ran to a puddle on the side of the sidewalk, and then I finally saw myself.
My previously dark skin had been replaced by an even darker black, as if my skin had been replaced by dark coals. My previously black eyes had also been replaced by an esoteric yellow that made my gaze very unsettling. Aside from those two things, my appearance has not changed in the slightest as far as I could tell, aside from me apparently not needing glasses anymore.
'No. Fucking. Way.' I thought incredulously as I started to recognize the place I was in. 'Holy shit, I'm in Hazbin Hotel.' I quickly looked up and started to try and walk in the streets of Hell and blend in while trying to find another alley and calm down my beating heart and the thoughts swirling through my head. Since I kept my clothes, I put my hands in my pockets and speed walked down the streets and tried to recount my memories before I came here.
All I remember was filling out a CYOA to get transmigrated, and... I got transmigrated, didn't I? Well, to be honest, I'm not that mad. I had no friends, teachers that liked me, and my parents died at 4 and left me with their house; none of my relatives wanted me. God, my life sucks. But before I could keep wallowing in my thoughts of self-doubt, the main selling point of the CYOA appeared. It was a black box with purple highlights that simply said.
[Hello, user! I am your interdimensional gacha system.]
Hell yeah. 'Can I get a beginner's package or something?' I try to ask nonchalantly in my head while trying to contain my rapidly rising heartbeat and the smile appearing on my face.
[Yes, user. Loading up the beginner's copper key now.]
The system whirred, then transformed into a wheel that spun on its own. I quickly looked around, acquiring the suspicious gazes of the demons around me. I found another alley, this time without anyone in it before I went in there. Just in time, too, as the wheel finally stopped spinning and the system talked again.
[Congratulations, user! You received the Six Eyes and Earthbending.]
I viewed the message and immediately felt ecstatic at my godly pull; I couldn't help the wide smile that overtook my face as I let out a disbelieving chuckle. My mania had to be cut short, though, with my abilities finally integrating with me. The Six Eyes integrated with me first, although it didn't hurt. I was blind for about a minute, and my eyes felt numb, like I could touch them with my finger and it wouldn't even hurt me. The numbness lasted for a minute before the world revealed itself to me all at once. It was as if I was being exposed to everything, everywhere, all at once; I could only equate it to what Gojo's Unlimited Void must feel like. I quickly closed my eyes and put my hands on them, yet I could still see. Through my eyelids and my hands, it was still as if I could still see way better than before, still making my head hurt a little bit as I searched for something to cover up my eyes.
While I searched, I felt some energy in my body building and solidifying like stone. I could almost instinctively feel the earth (or Hell in this case) at my fingertips, not at the ready, but brimming with power, ready to lash out at anybody. I looked down with my double-covered eyes and saw green energy lightly emanating from my body. I decided that I needed to go out and explore the city before I did anything else, but it would be very weird to see a man with his hands covering his eyes all the time, so I decided to just close my eyes and remove my hands.
It was almost night and day as my hands were removed from my eyes and I saw way better than a normal human ever should. My hands were of such high quality, I could even count the individual hair follicles on each finger if I focused hard enough. I put my hands to my sides and let out a shaky breath as I walked out of the alley and into the streets of hell.
As I walked down the street, the system decided to bless me with a quest.
[Quest: Find a house, ya lazy bum!]
[Find a place to rest your head at night for the foreseeable future.]
[Rewards: Batman's willpower + $20 Souls]
I analyzed the system's quest for me and thought, 'I was already going to do that, but I can't turn down free points!'. I walked down the streets of Hell, taking in all of the air and finally coming to terms with my situation right now. I'm stranded in Hell. I have nowhere to go. I have this system that could make me god. I can barely open my eyes without getting flashbanged with everything everywhere all at once. I have only one idea of where I could go, and even that could mess up depending on where in the timeline I'm in, but I have to try something.
I slightly open my eyes to barely a squint to try and locate what I'm looking for. Even barely opening my eyes makes me see almost everything in front of me in visceral detail: people's moles, the eyes of high people, the red energy coursing through the ground, and all of the buildings in hell, but I try to tune everything out and look around while walking to see what I'm trying to look for.
Soon I saw on a hill 23 miles (AN: About 37 kilometers to you non-Americans) in the distance and saw what I'd been looking for. It was a grand building, being the tallest for miles around. It had various yellow-tinted windows with a primarily red color scheme (seriously, why is almost everything here red?). with arrows pointing towards the door and the building itself, with "Come on in!" being on a billboard to the right and words at the top reading "HAPPY HOTEL.
I finally closed my eyes and started walking towards the hotel; meanwhile, I tried to train this energy in my body by moving it around a little bit while using my six eyes to watch if I'm doing anything wrong. Surprisingly, it was easy to move around the energy, but when I discreetly tried to move it out of my palm, nothing came out, but I felt the ground below me quiver in anticipation. I got so distracted practicing with my new energy that I didn't even notice that it was night and I was at the front door of the hotel until I finally saw the entire hotel, right in front of the door.
(Charlie Morningstar POV)
It was 3 days after I opened the hotel, but no one has come to visit so far. I put up posters, signs, and billboards; hell, I even made one of those plane exhaust things in the air promoting it, and no one has even knocked yet. But I have to persist; I know for a fact that these sinners deserve to be redeemed even if they don't know how to yet; I need to save them.
I was going to go to bed and finally go to sleep after waiting for so long, but before I could get up from the couch I was half asleep on, I heard a knock at the door. I raced over to the entrance from the couch I was lazing about on and swung open the door. The man who was right there had very dark skin; it looked like he was almost entirely made out of ink. His eyes were closed for some reason, and he had on a blue shirt with grey sweatpants on, and he barely came up to my shoulders. Before I could continue to analyze him, he said,
"Uh, hi, I would like to get redeemed, I guess…"
A smile almost instantly appeared on my face, but I calmed down and said,
"Great, I can get you checked in right now, and we'll start your way on the path to redemption tomorrow morning."
(3rd person POV)
As Charlie welcomed James into the hotel and walked him upstairs into his room, his system appeared before him.
[Congratulations for completing the mission, User.]
[Rewards: Batman's willpower & 20 souls]
[SLIGHT FATE CHANGE: Become the first resident of the hotel]
[Reward: Cursed Energy]
James was shocked by this revelation but quickly stuffed the paper that was souls in his pocket and Kelly walking being Charlie, trying not to stare at her ass in the loose sweatpants she was wearing.
Charlie introduced James to his room that was labeled 420 and went off to her room on the floor above his.
James fell face first into his bed and recounted his day so far in this new universe. Although he kept looking for things to complain about and be sad about, he couldn't stop smiling. James hugged his pillow and went to bed in the same clothes and with a smile on his face, ready to seize the day tomorrow with a gacha system and a new sense of optimism.
