Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: A Complete Life

Alicia Marcus turned to Alice with a serious expression and said, "If you release the antivirus, it will instantly kill all life forms infected with the T-virus. Do you understand what that means for you?"

Alice nodded calmly. "I understand."

Wang Ye walked up to Alice's side. Hearing their conversation, he said nothing, knowing that this was merely Alicia testing Alice's resolve.

Alice was a perfect being, having merged with and mutated by the T-virus, gaining extraordinary abilities. After injecting the Type VII super serum, the T-virus in her body had been completely neutralized. Technically, she was no longer an infected individual.

Only those who were deeply infected and modified by the T-virus, like Wesker, or those revived by it, such as zombies and mutants, would be killed by the antivirus's antibodies. For Alice, it would have no effect. But Alice herself was unaware of this.

Seeing Alice's unwavering determination, Alicia nodded with relief. "You must quickly head to the surface to release the antivirus. I will stay here to complete my final mission."

Alice realized that Alicia intended to destroy the Hive along with herself. She tried to persuade her. "You can leave with us! Perhaps we can find a way to cure your progeria!"

Alicia shook her head resolutely. "I am the owner of Umbrella Corporation. I caused this disaster, and I should bear the consequences. But wait, before you leave, I have a gift for you."

Alicia had already come to terms with her decision. While Umbrella Corporation was founded by her father, the current Umbrella had become a threat to humanity. Destroying it entirely was the only way to restore hope to the world.

"You plan to destroy all the bases, right? You don't need to worry about that. An hour ago, my forces had already located all the bases and launched simultaneous assaults. All Umbrella bases are now under my control, and their self-destruct mechanisms have been dismantled and secured."

Wang Ye tapped his wristwatch, projecting live footage of Umbrella's other bases. At every entrance, the Hydra emblem now flew.

"I know everything you've done. The fact that humanity still has survivors is something for which we should all be grateful. Cough, cough... My time is running out. I hope you will like this gift."

Alicia coughed a few times, struggling to pick up a small projection device from the long table. She placed it in front of her.

The octagonal device, about the size of a cigarette box, opened at the top, revealing a contact lens.

The lens was the same advanced technology as the one Isaacs had worn—capable of recording, projecting visuals, and connecting to the human nervous system for direct operation through thought.

Alicia placed the lens in her eye, a blue light flashing momentarily.

"Neural connection established. Downloading..."

As Alicia operated it with her thoughts, the screen in front of her changed to show scenes from her childhood memories.

Looking at these precious and beautiful memories, a content smile appeared on her aged face.

When the words "Download Complete!" appeared on the screen, Alicia took a final glance at the images, removed the lens, and handed it to Alice with trembling hands.

"Put this on. These are my childhood memories—something to fill the void of your childhood."

Without hesitation, Alice placed the lens in her eye. Memories surged through her mind as she closed her eyes, immersing herself in her newfound experiences, feeling her father's love and the missing pieces of her life.

After a few minutes, Alice opened her eyes. She had fully integrated the memories. From this moment forward, she was truly Alice—someone with a complete life, no longer merely a clone.

"Thank you."

Alice sincerely bowed to Alicia. This gift was invaluable to her.

"It's time for you to go now. Live well—not just for yourself, but also for me."

Alicia waved her hand, signaling their departure. With the antivirus in her possession, the end was near, and Alicia could finally find peace.

Alice wanted to persuade her again but didn't know what to say. She turned to Wang Ye, who simply shook his head.

For Alicia, death was liberation.

Alicia had borne too much pain and regret, suffering even in her stasis. Death was the only way to free her from her torment.

Understanding this, Alice nodded reluctantly. Along with Wang Ye and Rain, she turned and left.

After their departure, Alicia watched her childhood memories once more before activating the Hive's self-destruct countdown.

The Hive originally didn't have a self-destruct mechanism, but Alicia had gone to great lengths to install a bomb powerful enough to destroy the entire underground facility.

As the seconds ticked away, a massive explosion erupted, engulfing rows of cryo-pods and obliterating them in an instant.

The blast's intensity was immense, with flames surging through the Hive, consuming Alicia, Isaacs, Wesker, and everything else within moments.

Meanwhile, Wang Ye, Alice, and Rain had already left the Hive's core and returned to the surface.

Although the explosion occurred 800 meters underground, its tremors were clearly felt above.

Feeling the ground beneath her feet tremble, Alice paused, her expression dimming.
