Chapter 17 - The inheritance Chamber

With the guardians defeated, Lennon finally stood before the central chamber. The massive doors were adorned with ancient runes, their glow brighter and more intense than any he had seen before.

**"AI, can I break through?"**

The AI's response was cautious. **"The barrier protecting the chamber is highly advanced. It requires a specific sequence to unlock. I can assist in deciphering it, but it will take time."**

Lennon nodded. **"Do it. I'll stand guard."**

The AI began its analysis, and Lennon prepared for any potential threats. His senses were on high alert, every sound and movement scrutinized. Time seemed to crawl as the AI worked, the tension in the air almost palpable.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the AI spoke. **"Sequence deciphered. Opening the chamber now."**

The massive doors slowly creaked open, revealing a vast chamber bathed in an otherworldly light. At the center stood a pedestal, atop which rested a crystalline orb pulsating with immense magical energy. Surrounding the orb were shelves filled with ancient tomes, artifacts, and alchemical components.

Lennon's eyes widened in awe. **"So this is the inheritance of a Fourth-Circle Magus…"**

He stepped forward cautiously, his heart pounding. As he approached the pedestal, he felt a surge of power emanating from the orb. His AI chimed in.

**"Warning: The orb contains a fragment of the Fourth-Circle Magus's soul. Interaction will trigger the final trial."**

Lennon's expression hardened. **"Figures. Let's finish this."**

He reached out and touched the orb. The chamber shook violently as a spectral figure materialized—a projection of the Fourth-Circle Magus who had once wielded this power.

**"To claim my inheritance, you must prove your worth,"** the spectral figure intoned, its voice echoing through the chamber.

Lennon raised his hands, his spells ready. **"I've come too far to turn back now."**

The final trial had begun.
