Chapter 22 - The Gathering Of Magi

Months had passed since Lennon Uranus began his experiments in earnest. His laboratory was a scene of controlled chaos: vials of bubbling liquids, scrolls of arcane formulas, and the faint hum of mana flowing through complex alchemical arrays. His servants moved about with mechanical efficiency, their every action monitored and optimized by the AI.

Despite his formidable progress, the perfect potion eluded him. Each batch brought him closer, but he knew that true breakthroughs in alchemical research required time—years, if not decades.

**"AI,"** Lennon said, his voice calm but laced with frustration, **"what's the current success rate of the latest formulation?"**

**"Master, the current formulation has achieved a 47% stability rate,"** the AI replied. **"While notable progress has been made, further refinements are required. Estimated time to optimal results: one to two years."**

Lennon sighed and leaned back in his chair, his golden eyes narrowing. **"We'll keep pushing forward. Accelerate the iterative process where possible, but don't compromise on quality."**

**"Understood, Master,"** the AI responded.

### **An Unexpected Visitor**

One quiet evening, as Lennon was reviewing his latest findings, a chime echoed through the tower. The protective wards detected a visitor.

**"AI, who dares disturb me?"** Lennon asked coldly.

**"Master, the visitor is a Third-Circle Magus. He bears no hostile intent and has requested an audience. Shall I activate the defensive measures?"**

Lennon considered for a moment. **"No, deactivate them. I'll meet him."**

Moments later, Lennon descended to the tower's entrance, where a robed figure waited. The visitor was a lean man with sharp features, his eyes gleaming with intelligence. He offered a respectful nod.

**"Magus Uranus, I am Damon Krel of the Argent Crescent. I come with an invitation."**

Lennon's expression remained impassive. **"Speak."**

**"A gathering of Third-Circle Magi is taking place tomorrow night in Aetherhold. It is an opportunity to exchange knowledge, treasures, and information. Your recent arrival has not gone unnoticed, and we would be honored by your presence."**

Lennon's eyes flickered with interest. Such gatherings were rare but invaluable. He nodded slowly. **"I'll attend."**

Damon smiled. **"Excellent. The gathering will be held at the Celestial Vault in the city's upper district. I look forward to seeing you there."**

With that, Damon departed, leaving Lennon alone with his thoughts.

### **The Celestial Vault**

The following night, Lennon arrived at the **Celestial Vault**, a grand hall perched atop one of Aetherhold's tallest spires. Its exterior shimmered with intricate magical runes, and its interior was even more impressive—a vast chamber filled with floating platforms, each occupied by Magi in deep discussion.

Lennon moved through the room with quiet confidence, his dark robes and commanding aura drawing more than a few curious glances. He quickly located Damon, who greeted him with a smile.

**"Magus Uranus, welcome. Let me introduce you to some of our esteemed peers."**

Damon led Lennon to a smaller platform where two women stood, their presence immediately commanding attention.

The first had hair as dark as the void, cascading down her back in silky waves. Her eyes were an icy blue, and she carried herself with an air of cold elegance. She wore fitted robes adorned with the sigils of the **Valkir Clan**, a powerful family known for their mastery of ice magic.

The second was her opposite in appearance, with fiery red hair that seemed to dance like flames. Her emerald eyes sparkled with mischief, and her robes bore the insignia of the **Ignis Fane**, a clan famed for their fire-based spells.

**"Allow me to introduce Valeria Valkir and Celeste Ignis,"** Damon said. **"Both are prominent members of their respective clans."**

Valeria offered a polite nod. **"A pleasure, Magus Uranus. I've heard of your recent arrival in Aetherhold."**

Celeste, on the other hand, smiled warmly. **"Damon's been talking about you. Says you've been making waves already."**

Lennon inclined his head slightly. **"The pleasure is mine. Both your clans are well-regarded."**

**"And what about you?"** Valeria asked, her icy gaze appraising him. **"You must be formidable to operate independently in a city like this."**

**"I manage,"** Lennon replied, his tone cool. **"Power and knowledge speak louder than affiliations."**

Celeste chuckled. **"Spoken like a true lone wolf."**

### **The Exchange of Knowledge**

The gathering soon shifted to its primary purpose: the exchange of information and resources. Magi presented rare tomes, spell diagrams, and alchemical recipes, each transaction accompanied by intense negotiation.

Lennon observed with keen interest, occasionally stepping forward to offer his insights or inquire about specific items. He traded some of the lesser treasures he'd acquired during his adventures for rare materials and knowledge that would aid in his experiments.

Valeria and Celeste proved to be valuable connections. Valeria shared a rare ice-elemental formula in exchange for one of Lennon's gravity-based spells. Celeste, intrigued by his alchemical pursuits, offered him a unique fire essence in return for a collaboration on a potion project.

### **A Growing Web of Influence**

By the end of the night, Lennon had not only expanded his network but also secured several valuable resources for his research. As he prepared to leave, Damon approached him once more.

**"Magus Uranus, your presence tonight has been most enlightening. I trust we'll see more of you in the future?"**

Lennon gave a faint smirk. **"Perhaps. If the exchanges remain worthwhile."**

Valeria and Celeste also approached him before his departure.

**"If you ever require assistance or wish to collaborate, do not hesitate to contact us,"** Valeria said, her tone as cold as ever but with a hint of respect.

Celeste grinned. **"And if you're ever bored, I'm always up for a good challenge."**

Lennon nodded. **"I'll keep that in mind."**

As he left the Celestial Vault, his mind was already calculating his next moves. In the Magus World, alliances were fleeting, and trust was a luxury. Yet, even temporary connections could be leveraged for great gain.

**"AI,"** he said softly, his golden eyes glinting in the night. **"Record the events of tonight. These connections will prove useful."**

**"Understood, Master,"** the AI replied. **"Updating records now."**
