Chapter 9 - who was it

As Samuel and Leo were deep in

discussion, laying out their ruthless plan

against Andre, a knock came on

Samuel's office door. It was sharp and

urgent, breaking the intense

atmosphere.

"Come in," Samuel said, his voice steady

but curious.

The door opened to reveal the head of

Samuel's intelligence team, Mark, his

face etched with worry. "Sir, there's

something else you need to know," he

said, stepping into the room.

Samuel's eyes narrowed as he took in

Mark's expression. "What is it, Mark?"

Mark took a deep breath before

speaking. "After further investigation

into yesterday's attack, we discovered

something troubling. The men who

ambushed you... they weren't appointed

by Andre."

Samuel's heart skipped a beat, his mind

racing. "What do you mean they weren't

Andre's men? Who were they?"

We're not entirely sure yet," Mark

admitted, his voice tense. "But our initial findings suggest that they belong to a

new player in the game. Someone who's

been quietly building power and

resources, and is now making bold

moves"

Leo leaned forward, his interest piqued.

"A new player? Do we have any leads on

who this might be?"

Mark nodded. "We've intercepted some

communications and traced their origin.

There's a name that keeps coming up:

Viktor Ivanov. He's a Russian arms dealer

with a reputation for being exceptionally

ruthless and ambitious."

Samuel's jaw clenched. This was an

unexpected complication. "Why would

Viktor target me?"

"We're still gathering Intel, but it seems

Viktor is looking to expand his territory

and influence. Taking you out would be

a significant power move," Mark

explained.

Samuel leaned back in his chair, his

mind whirring with this new information.

"So, not only do we have to deal with

Andre, but now we have a new threat on

the horizon."

Leo sighed, rubbing his temples. "This

changes everything. We need to

reassess our strategy. If Viktor is as

dangerous as they say, we can't afford

to underestimate him."

Samuel nodded, his face set in

determination. "Mark, I want you to

double our surveillance on Viktor. Find

out everything there is to know about

him. Weaknesses, allies, business

dealings—everything"

"Understood, sir," Mark said, turning to

leave the room.

As the door closed behind him, Samuel

and Leo sat in silence for a moment,

absorbing this new twist. Samuel's

thoughts turned to Hana, safe in the

fortress with Natasha but now facing

threats from multiple fronts.

"We can't let this new threat distract us

from Andre," Samuel finally said. "But we

also can't ignore it. We need a plan that

covers both fronts."

Leo nodded in agreement. "I'll start

working on it. We'll need to allocate

some resources to deal with Viktor while

we continue our campaign against

Andre."

"Good," Samuel said, his voice hard.

"And we need to ensure Hana's safety

above all. Double the guards at the safe

house. Make sure Natasha knows about

this new threat."

"I'll take care of it," Leo assured him.

With a final nod, Samuel refocused his

attention on the plans before him. The

stakes had just been raised, but he was

determined to protect Hana and

dismantle any threats to their future. As

he began to outline their revised

strategy, his resolve hardened. No

matter who stood against him, Samuel

would stop at nothing to keep his loved

ones safe.

Hana's curiosity piqued as she wandered

around Natasha's room, taking in the

unfamiliar surroundings. Her eyes fell

upon an old album tucked away on a

shelf, its weathered cover hinting at the

memories it held within. With a hesitant

hand, she reached for it, drawn by an

inexplicable urge to explore.

As she carefully opened the album, a

flood of images spilled forth, each one

capturing moments frozen in time.

Hana's breath caught in her throat as

she realized the significance of what she

held in her hands. The pages were filled

with photographs of Samuel, Natasha,

and Andre—smiling, laughing, and

sharing intimate moments together.

Natasha's voice interrupted her reverie,

and Hana looked up to find her standing

in the doorway, a soft smile playing on

her lips. "I see you found the album,"

Natasha said, her tone tinged with

nostalgia as she moved to sit beside

Hana

Hana nodded, a mix of emotions

swirling inside her. "These are...

memories?" she asked, her voice barely

above a whisper.

Natasha nodded, her eyes scanning the

photos with a wistful gaze. "Yes, they

are. Memories of a time long gone," she

replied, her voice tinged with a hint of

sadness.

Hana couldn't tear her eyes away from

the images, each one offering a glimpse

into a past she had never known. "You,

Samuel, and Andre... you were close,"

she observed, her words trailing off as

she studied their faces.

Natasha nodded, a bittersweet smile

playing on her lips. "We were more than

close. We were like family," she

explained, her gaze distant as she

recalled the memories.

Hana's curiosity grew, and she couldn't

help but ask, "What happened? Why

aren't you all still together?"

Natasha's smile faded, replaced by a

shadow of sorrow. "Life has a way of

pulling people apart," she said her voice

soft but tinged with regret. "Sometimes,

circumstances change, and we find

ourselves on different paths."

Hana felt a pang of sympathy for

Natasha, sensing the depth of emotion

behind her words. "I'm sorry," she said

softly, reaching out to place a

comforting hand on Natasha's arm.

Natasha's gaze met hers, gratitude

shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Hana,"

she said, her voice gentle. "But enough

about the past. Let's focus on the

present—and the future."

With a shared understanding, they

closed the album together, the

memories it held safely tucked away

once more. In that moment, Hana felt a

bond forming between them, forged by

shared experiences and the promise of

what lay ahead. And as they sat together

in companionable silence, Hana knew

that she had found a confidante in

Natasha—a guiding light in the

darkness, as they faced the challenges

that lay ahead.

The losses were

catastrophic for Andre, crippling his

operations and sending a clear message

of dominance.

Samuel knew that this wouldn't be

enough to end the conflict, but it would

buy him time and send a strong

warning. He had one final message to

send to Andre. He arranged for one of

Andre's men to be captured alive and

brought to him.

In the dimly lit basement of one of

Samuel's properties, the man was tied to

a chair, his face bruised and bloodied.

Samuel stood before him, his expression

cold and merciless.

"Tell Andre this," Samuel said his voice

low and menacing. "You make one more

move against Hana, and I will come for

you myself. There will be no place to

hide, no one to save you. You will suffer

like no one has ever suffered before."

The man nodded frantically, desperate

to escape the wrath of the King.

Samuel's enforcers released him,

ensuring he would deliver the message.

At his mansion, an Andre received the

news of the attacks and the message

from Samuel. His anger boiled over as

he opened the box containing the

severed head of one of his top men.
