Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: A Day in Liyue – Pokémon Encounters and Everyday Adventures

The sun had just started to rise over Liyue Harbor, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. It was the start of a new day in Teyvat, and the bustling energy of Liyue was slowly waking up. Wild Pokémon roamed the fields just beyond the harbor, their cries mixing in with the sounds of the morning market opening. Merchants and townspeople alike went about their day, now well-accustomed to Pokémon sightings.

Hiroshi walked down the streets, Zekrom beside him, towering and drawing a mix of awe and excitement from the people they passed. Zekrom, always poised and majestic, was now somewhat of a celebrity among the citizens. Children would often run up, hoping to hear stories of Zekrom's power or even to just touch the majestic Pokémon's wings.

"Hey, Zekrom," Hiroshi said, yawning. "Do you think we'll have a peaceful day today?"

Zekrom's deep voice resonated with humor. "Hiroshi, in Liyue? With all these characters around? A peaceful day sounds unlikely."

Hiroshi chuckled, patting Zekrom's side. He knew Zekrom was right. Liyue was full of colorful personalities, and each one of them had their own way of making life... interesting.

Just then, they heard the sound of something crashing nearby. It was followed by a familiar voice yelling in frustration.

"That's Hu Tao," Hiroshi said, recognizing the voice instantly. "Sounds like she's having another Pokémon misadventure. Let's go check it out."

They made their way through the crowd, eventually reaching the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, where they found Hu Tao in the middle of a rather chaotic scene. Her Shuppet was floating above her, a mischievous smile plastered on its ghostly face, while a group of Bunnelby hopped around, overturning flowerpots and scattering dirt everywhere.

"Hu Tao," Hiroshi said, holding back a laugh, "what's going on here?"

Hu Tao turned, her face brightening upon seeing Hiroshi and Zekrom. "Ah, Hiroshi! Just the person I needed! These Bunnelby think it's fun to dig up my flowers! And Shuppet, instead of helping, is encouraging them!"

Shuppet let out a gleeful giggle, spinning around Hu Tao, who sighed dramatically. Hiroshi tried to stifle his laughter but failed. The sight of Hu Tao, the often composed and playful Director, being flustered by a bunch of small Pokémon was too much.

"Alright, alright," Hiroshi said, still grinning. "Zekrom, how about giving me a hand?"

Zekrom nodded, his presence alone enough to make the Bunnelby pause. He let out a low rumble, and the Bunnelby quickly scampered off, clearly not wanting to mess with the Legendary Pokémon.

Hu Tao sighed in relief. "Thanks, Hiroshi, and you too, Zekrom. I swear, these little guys are so troublesome sometimes. But I guess that's what makes it fun." She gave Shuppet a playful glare. "You, on the other hand, are supposed to be on my side, you know!"

Shuppet merely grinned wider, clearly enjoying the chaos it had caused. Hiroshi shook his head. "You really do have your hands full, Hu Tao."

"Tell me about it," Hu Tao replied with a wink. "But, hey, at least it's never boring, right?"

As they were chatting, Chongyun walked up, his Duskull hovering behind him. Chongyun looked a little frazzled, as if he'd been running around all morning.

"Hey, Chongyun," Hiroshi greeted, noticing his friend's tired expression. "You look like you've had a busy morning."

Chongyun sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "You have no idea. Duskull and I were trying to help out at Wanmin Restaurant, but..." He trailed off, looking at Duskull, who seemed almost sheepish. "Let's just say Duskull's idea of helping isn't exactly what Xiangling had in mind."

Hiroshi could only imagine. He had seen Xiangling's Charmeleon trying to deal with Duskull's pranks before, and it always ended in hilarious chaos.

"Well, it's all part of learning, right?" Hiroshi said, trying to cheer Chongyun up. "I mean, Pokémon are new here, and everyone's still figuring things out. Even the Pokémon Centers are still learning how to handle some of the more... unique cases."

Chongyun nodded. "Yeah, you're right. At least we have the Pokémon Centers now. Xiangling's been sending Buneary there after all the excitement at the restaurant."

As they spoke, a loud, confident voice echoed through the streets. "Out of the way! I'm coming through!"

They turned to see Ningguang approaching, her Rotom flying beside her, buzzing with energy. The crowd seemed to part for her naturally, as Ningguang exuded her usual air of authority and grace.

"Good morning, everyone," Ningguang greeted, her eyes scanning the scene. "I heard there was some trouble here."

Hu Tao laughed. "Oh, nothing too serious, Ningguang. Just a little Bunnelby chaos."

Ningguang raised an eyebrow. "I see. And I take it you were at the center of it, Hu Tao?"

Hu Tao put on an innocent face. "Who, me? I would never!" She winked at Hiroshi, who just shook his head.

"Anyway," Ningguang continued, looking at Rotom, "we've been working on something interesting, and I thought you'd all like to see it."

Hiroshi's curiosity piqued. "What is it, Ningguang?"

Ningguang gestured for them to follow her, and they made their way to Yuehai Pavilion. There, laid out on a table, was what looked like a Pokédex, but it was larger, with additional functions attached to it.

"This," Ningguang said, pride evident in her voice, "is the Liyue Pokédex Mark II. With Rotom's help, we've managed to upgrade it. It can now not only scan Pokémon levels and provide information, but also connect directly to the Pokémon Centers to access data on the Pokémon found in the wild here in Liyue."

Hiroshi picked it up, examining it. "Wow, this is amazing, Ningguang. You've really been busy."

Ningguang nodded. "Indeed. With the Pokémon becoming more integrated into our society, I thought it was necessary to make sure we stay informed. Knowledge is power, after all."

Hu Tao peered over Hiroshi's shoulder. "Does it also tell you how mischievous a Pokémon is? Because I could use that information before I get another group of Bunnelby in my flowers."

Everyone laughed, even Zekrom letting out a deep rumble of amusement.

"No," Ningguang said, smiling, "but it does have a function to record behavioral notes. You could always start categorizing them yourself, Hu Tao."

Hu Tao clapped her hands together. "Great idea! I'll start a list – 'Pokémon to Watch Out For.' Shuppet, you're going to be the first one on it." Shuppet just grinned, apparently proud of this dubious honor.

Chongyun looked at the upgraded Pokédex with interest. "This could be really helpful. Duskull and I have been trying to figure out how to train better, and this might give us an edge."

"That's the idea," Ningguang said. "We need to stay ahead of the curve if we want to ensure everyone here in Liyue can coexist peacefully with these new creatures."

As they talked, Xiangling appeared, her Charmeleon beside her, looking determined. "Did I hear something about training?" she asked, her eyes lighting up. "I've been trying to figure out how to get Charmeleon to master a new move! Maybe we could all train together today!"

Hiroshi smiled. "That sounds like a great idea, Xiangling. We could use a bit of practice." He looked at Zekrom, who nodded in agreement.

"Alright, training session it is," Hu Tao declared, raising her hand in excitement. "Let's see if we can make today a little less chaotic than usual!"

They all made their way to the training grounds just outside Liyue Harbor, an area that had been set up specifically for Pokémon battles and practice. The field was bustling with activity, with various trainers working with their Pokémon. The new Pokémon culture had truly taken root in Liyue, and it was inspiring to see how much everyone had embraced it.

Xiangling called out her Buneary and Lotad to join Charmeleon. Chongyun brought Duskull forward, while Hu Tao summoned Shuppet, who was looking particularly eager after the morning's antics. Ningguang let Rotom take center stage, its electric energy buzzing around.

"Alright, everyone," Xiangling said, taking charge. "Let's start with some basics. We'll work on dodging and countering first. Charmeleon, show them how it's done!"

Charmeleon stepped forward, its tail flame burning brightly. It moved swiftly, dodging imaginary attacks and countering with Ember. The other Pokémon watched, some like Buneary hopping up and down in excitement, while Duskull hovered quietly, observing.

"Great form, Charmeleon!" Hiroshi called out, impressed. "Alright, Zekrom, let's give them a demonstration too. Use Thunder Wave, but only enough to create a small shock. Let's work on accuracy."

Zekrom nodded, electricity crackling around its body before releasing a controlled Thunder Wave. The wave arced through the air, precisely hitting a target dummy that had been set up at the far end of the field.

"Wow," Chongyun said, eyes wide. "That's incredible control, Zekrom. Duskull, let's try to match that focus."

Duskull nodded, its eye glowing as it prepared a Night Shade attack. It aimed for the target, and while it wasn't quite as precise as Zekrom's, it managed to hit its mark. Chongyun beamed, patting Duskull on the head. "Good job! We'll keep practicing."

Hu Tao was having her own fun, laughing as Shuppet phased in and out, trying to dodge Lotad's Water Gun. "Come on, Shuppet, you can do better than that!" she teased, but there was clear pride in her voice.

The training continued for a few hours, with everyone giving their best efforts. Laughter and shouts of encouragement filled the air, and by midday, they were all exhausted but happy.

They gathered under a large tree to rest, sharing snacks and water. Hiroshi looked around at his friends and their Pokémon, feeling a deep sense of fulfillment. The Pokémon Popularization System had brought so much change to Teyvat, and seeing the bonds forming between people and Pokémon was incredibly rewarding.

"You know," Hiroshi said, breaking the comfortable silence, "it's amazing how far we've come. Pokémon are everywhere now, and people are really starting to understand them. We've still got a long way to go, but... I think we're doing pretty well."

Ningguang nodded. "Indeed. It's a testament to how adaptable and open-minded the people of Liyue are. And, of course, to your efforts, Hiroshi. You've done an incredible job."

Hiroshi smiled, feeling a bit embarrassed. "It's not just me. It's all of you too. We're a team, right?"

Hu Tao raised her water bottle in a mock toast. "To the Pokémon Popularization Team! May our days continue to be filled with chaos and fun!"

Everyone laughed, raising their own bottles. Zekrom let out a small rumble of agreement. "To more adventures," it said, its deep voice echoing across the field.

As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, painting the sky in the warm colors of dusk, Hiroshi felt a sense of peace. This world, filled with both the wonders of Teyvat and the magic of Pokémon, was becoming something truly special. And he was grateful to be a part of it, alongside his friends, both human and Pokémon.

They still had many challenges ahead, and Hiroshi knew that the Pokémon Popularization System would throw more missions his way. But for now, surrounded by laughter and the bonds they'd forged, he felt ready to face whatever came next.

"Alright, everyone," he said, standing up and stretching. "Who's up for dinner? I heard Xiangling's got a new recipe involving berries."

Xiangling's eyes lit up. "Oh, you have no idea! I've been experimenting with Oran Berries, and I think I've got something amazing! Come on, let's head back!"

With excited chatter and the sound of Pokémon happily following along, they made their way back to Liyue Harbor, ready for whatever tomorrow would bring. And as they walked, Hiroshi couldn't help but smile, knowing that their journey had only just begun.
