Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The Librarian and the Ghost - Lisa and Misdreavus' Day Out

The sun shone warmly over Mondstadt, casting a soft glow across the city and bringing a sense of calm and cheerfulness. It was the kind of day that Lisa enjoyed the most—a day when she could leave her responsibilities behind, just for a while, and take the time to indulge in something a bit more leisurely. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the gentle breeze tousle her hair, then turned to her companion for the day.

Floating beside her was her Pokémon partner, Misdreavus, who looked equally excited about the day ahead. The ghostly Pokémon floated in small circles, its mischievous giggles occasionally drawing curious glances from passersby. Lisa smiled softly, adjusting her witch-like hat as she began to stroll through Mondstadt's bustling plaza.

"Well, Misdreavus, darling," Lisa said, her voice smooth and calm, "I think it's time we indulged in a little shopping, don't you think? Maybe we can find some interesting trinkets to study—something with a little arcane flair." Misdreavus let out a delighted giggle, nodding eagerly.

The two of them made their way through the market square, Lisa stopping to chat with vendors and examine various items—books, herbs, charms, and more. Misdreavus floated close by, occasionally sneaking up behind unsuspecting shoppers and letting out a playful wail, startling them before dissolving into giggles. Lisa watched her partner with amusement, her eyes glinting with mischief.

"Now, now, Misdreavus," Lisa said, her tone affectionate. "We mustn't scare people too much, darling. We wouldn't want them to get the wrong idea about us, would we?"

Misdreavus gave Lisa an innocent look, but the twinkle in its eyes made it clear that it was thoroughly enjoying itself. Lisa shook her head with a chuckle, reaching out to pat Misdreavus on the head. "I suppose a little harmless fun never hurt anyone," she murmured.

As they wandered through the market, Lisa's gaze fell on a small stall selling colorful ribbons and accessories. She paused, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Hmm, what do you think, Misdreavus? Would you like a little ribbon to add to your charm?" Misdreavus tilted its head, looking at the ribbons with curiosity before nodding excitedly.

Lisa smiled and selected a deep purple ribbon that matched Misdreavus's ethereal color. She handed a few Mora coins to the vendor and then tied the ribbon around Misdreavus's neck. The ghost Pokémon floated in front of her, admiring its reflection in a polished mirror hanging at the stall.

"Oh, you look absolutely adorable," Lisa cooed, her voice teasing. "Quite the fashion statement, I'd say."

Misdreavus spun around happily, clearly pleased with its new accessory. Lisa watched, her eyes softening as she admired the Pokémon's joy. It was moments like these that made her cherish her bond with Misdreavus. Even amidst her busy days in the library, filled with research and work for the Knights of Favonius, having a partner like Misdreavus brought a sense of lightness to her life.

After spending some time shopping, Lisa decided to visit the Good Hunter for a light meal. She settled at a table outside, Misdreavus floating beside her, still admiring its new ribbon. Sara, the head chef of Good Hunter, approached with her usual friendly smile.

"Good afternoon, Lisa. What can I get for you today?" Sara asked, glancing curiously at Misdreavus. "And I see you have your Pokémon with you. It looks very charming with that ribbon."

Lisa smiled, nodding. "Why thank you, Sara. Misdreavus and I have been enjoying a little day off, indulging in some shopping. I think we'll have a couple of sweet madames today, please."

Sara nodded and hurried back inside to prepare the order. Misdreavus floated around the table, its eyes wide as it watched other customers enjoying their meals. Lisa chuckled softly, resting her chin in her hand as she watched her partner's antics.

"Curious about the food, darling?" Lisa asked, her voice playful. "I wonder if you'd enjoy a Sweet Madame as much as I do." Misdreavus nodded eagerly, letting out an excited little wail.

Soon enough, Sara returned with their order, placing two plates of Sweet Madame in front of Lisa. "Enjoy your meal," she said warmly, giving Misdreavus another fond look before heading off to tend to other customers.

Lisa picked up a fork and cut off a small piece of the honey-glazed chicken, holding it out to Misdreavus. "Here you go, darling. Give it a try." Misdreavus leaned forward, nibbling on the piece before letting out a delighted squeal, its eyes sparkling with joy.

Lisa laughed softly, her eyes filled with warmth. "I knew you'd like it," she said, taking a bite herself. The two of them enjoyed their meal in comfortable silence, the sounds of the bustling plaza providing a pleasant backdrop.

After their meal, Lisa decided to head towards the Cathedral. She had heard that Barbara had gotten a new Pokémon partner recently—a Jigglypuff—and she was curious to see how her fellow sister was faring with her new companion. As she entered the Cathedral's courtyard, she spotted Barbara and Jigglypuff near the fountain, practicing a song together.

Barbara looked up as Lisa approached, a bright smile spreading across her face. "Oh, Lisa! It's so good to see you!" She waved, and Jigglypuff gave a cheerful little hop in greeting.

Lisa smiled, walking over with Misdreavus floating beside her. "Hello, Barbara. I see you and Jigglypuff are getting along quite well. I must say, your new partner is absolutely adorable."

Barbara blushed, nodding. "Thank you, Lisa. Jigglypuff has been amazing. We've been practicing songs together, and it even helps me when I'm healing. It's such a wonderful partner." She looked at Misdreavus, her eyes widening in delight. "And Misdreavus looks so cute with that ribbon! Did you get it today?"

Lisa nodded, patting Misdreavus on the head. "Yes, we've been having a little day out—shopping, eating, and enjoying the beautiful weather. I thought a ribbon would be a nice touch." Misdreavus let out a proud little wail, clearly enjoying the attention.

Barbara giggled, clapping her hands together. "It suits Misdreavus perfectly! Oh, Lisa, would you like to join us for a bit? Jigglypuff and I were just about to practice a new song. Maybe Misdreavus could join in too?"

Lisa raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a playful smile. "Oh? A musical collaboration, you say? That sounds delightful. What do you think, Misdreavus?" Misdreavus nodded eagerly, floating over to join Jigglypuff by the fountain.

Barbara took a deep breath, smiling at Jigglypuff. "Alright, Jigglypuff, let's start with something simple. And Misdreavus, feel free to join in whenever you like!"

Jigglypuff began to sing, its sweet, melodic voice filling the courtyard. Misdreavus listened for a moment before adding its own hauntingly beautiful wails, the two voices blending together in a unique harmony. Barbara sang along, her voice clear and bright, and Lisa watched with a smile, her heart swelling with warmth.

The few people passing through the courtyard paused to listen, their expressions softening as the melody washed over them. It was a beautiful moment—one that captured the spirit of Mondstadt perfectly. The harmony between humans and Pokémon, the joy of music, and the sense of community that bound them all together.

As the song came to an end, Barbara beamed at Lisa. "That was wonderful! Thank you for joining us, Lisa. Misdreavus has such a beautiful voice."

Lisa chuckled, nodding. "Thank you, Barbara. You and Jigglypuff were lovely as always. I think Misdreavus enjoyed itself quite a bit." Misdreavus floated over to Lisa, nuzzling against her cheek affectionately.

Barbara smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "I'm so glad. It's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. Bringing joy to others, whether through healing or music—it's all worth it."

Lisa reached out, placing a gentle hand on Barbara's shoulder. "And you do it so well, Barbara. You truly are the heart of Mondstadt." Barbara blushed, looking down shyly, and Lisa gave her a soft smile before turning to Misdreavus. "Come, darling. I think it's time we headed back to the library. We've had our fun for the day."

Misdreavus let out a small wail of protest but eventually nodded, floating beside Lisa as they made their way out of the courtyard. Lisa looked back at Barbara, giving her a small wave. "Take care, Barbara. And keep singing. You and Jigglypuff make a wonderful team."

Barbara waved back, her smile bright. "Thank you, Lisa. You too. Have a wonderful day!"

As Lisa and Misdreavus walked through the streets of Mondstadt, the sun beginning to set in the distance, Lisa felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She glanced at Misdreavus, who floated beside her, still adorned with its new ribbon.

"Today was a good day, wasn't it, darling?" Lisa said softly, her voice filled with warmth. "It's not often we get to relax like this. But even a librarian needs a little break now and then, wouldn't you agree?"

Misdreavus let out a soft, happy wail, nodding in agreement. Lisa smiled, her heart swelling with affection for her partner. She knew that tomorrow would bring new challenges and responsibilities, but for now, she was content to simply enjoy the moment.

Together, they continued their leisurely walk, the warm glow of the sunset lighting their path as they made their way back to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. There, books and mysteries awaited, but for now, it was just Lisa and her beloved Misdreavus, basking in the simple joy of a day well spent.
