The air in the room still reeked of blood, the bodies of the Aurora Hotel's trackers twisted grotesquely, as if crushed by some immense force. Ariana stood in the center of the room, tightly gripping her short blade, her eyes cold as she stared at me.
"Lorne, now you understand that they won't let you go easily, right?" Her voice was low, but laced with suppressed anger.
"So tell me, who are they?" I countered, my mind buzzing with Sauron's mocking laughter that was almost driving me mad.
"Mortal, do you really think she will tell you the truth?" Sauron's voice dripped with mockery. "She's hiding more than you think."
"Shut up, Sauron," I growled inwardly, before turning to Ariana. "They came for the Ring. Why did they have to silence them?"
Ariana's face shifted slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. "You'd better not ask too many questions, Lorne. This is a world you shouldn't know about."
