Chapter 43: I'm Surrendering, Please Let Me Go!
Hearing Kisame Hoshigaki's "praise," Uchiha Yi couldn't help but twitch his lips in annoyance.
He'd originally wanted to spar with Kisame to test the progress he'd made from the special training with Pain. But Kisame's taunting was starting to get under his skin.
Am I really that weak?
For a moment, Uchiha Yi thought back to an old friend who faced endless doubts but still chose to stand firm against the world's criticisms. Because a true man was never afraid of skepticism or failure—they only made him stronger.
What was this small frustration compared to that?
All right, enough was enough. Uchiha Yi's patience had run out.
"Well, since you're so bold, I won't hold back!"
Seeing Kisame's dismissive attitude, Uchiha Yi decided he couldn't let it slide.
Amaterasu!
He opened with one of his favorite moves, unleashing the black flames of Amaterasu. If Kisame couldn't even handle this, then there was no point in holding back.
The black flames appeared on Kisame without warning, consuming him.
"What the hell is this?" Kisame's face twisted in shock as he hastily formed hand seals, creating a large water sphere to douse the flames.
But Amaterasu wasn't an ordinary fire—it couldn't be extinguished so easily.
The water splashed down, drenching Kisame, but the flames evaporated it and continued to burn.
"Release!"
Realizing nothing was working, Kisame stopped struggling, forming seals to release his water clone.
"What a powerful jutsu!"
In the next second, an unharmed Kisame appeared from another direction.
Uchiha Yi wasn't surprised; his Fiery eye had already seen through the clone, as well as the new figure that was also a decoy.
"So, have you made up your mind?" Uchiha Yi asked again.
"Not yet!"
Such light attacks wouldn't be enough to make Kisame submit.
"If you want to hide, then do it properly!"
Being refused repeatedly tested Uchiha Yi's patience. Without forming seals, he began to generate streams of lava from his arms.
As the heat met the cool air, a small whirlwind swirled around them, causing their clothes to flap.
Then, Uchiha Yi's lava-infused fists shot toward the sky, launching fiery punches into the clouds.
The familiar motions instantly reminded Kisame of Kakashi's jutsu.
Isn't this the Meteor Volcano that Kakashi performed earlier?
How could the same jutsu be so much more powerful when Yi used it?
Damn it, I can't let him complete it!
Sensing danger, Kisame lunged forward, wielding his sword, Samehada, as he appeared right in front of Uchiha Yi, slashing down to interrupt him.
Seeing this, Uchiha Yi responded by extending one hand.
"Great Fire Fist!"
His arm turned into a massive lava fist, simulating the explosive force of a volcanic eruption, launching the punch toward Samehada.
The heat from the lava made contact with the living blade, producing a sizzling sound as Samehada writhed in pain and fell to the ground, weakened.
"Is this his true strength?"
Hidden nearby, the real Kisame was in shock.
He could hardly believe that the person he'd once thought of as a novice was actually capable of wielding such terrifying power.
Failing to stop the Meteor Volcano in time, Kisame looked up at the sky.
Fiery red dots filled the sky, dense enough to make his scalp tingle.
In the first second, the sky was dotted with tiny sparks.
By the second second, those sparks grew larger.
By the third second, they transformed into massive flaming stones, each about ten meters across—and there were countless of them.
By the fourth second, there was no time left to escape.
If you couldn't withstand it, the only choice was to accept your fate.
The raining lava consumed everything in its path, punishing any living thing in its way.
Not far off, the group holding Kakashi captive turned back, their faces filled with shock as they looked upon the apocalyptic scene.
What had happened over there?
"Is Senior Kisame still alive?"
Someone voiced the question, but no one answered, the silence itself suggesting the grim answer.
"It's him!"
"The power is even stronger than before!"
"Could this masked man be the one Hanare warned me about?"
Bound and unable to act, Kakashi recalled Hanare's warning.
But who was this person, and why did Hanare fear him so much?
Questions flooded Kakashi's mind, but he was in no position to seek answers.
"Damn!"
"Could I have killed Kisame by accident?!"
Uchiha Yi was equally shocked. He'd only upgraded Meteor Volcano by two levels, but its power had increased exponentially.
If he'd known it would be like this, he might have refrained from using it, afraid of accidentally killing Kisame.
Well, what's done is done.
Might as well check if Kisame survived. Who knows? He might have a tough enough life to pull through.
As Uchiha Yi prepared to move, a distortion appeared in the space in front of him.
Knowing this meant Obito was arriving, Uchiha Yi stopped.
Sure enough, after a moment, Obito emerged from the twisted space, holding a weakened figure.
As soon as this person saw Uchiha Yi, he seemed to regain his health instantly, desperately wanting to leave, as if performing a medical miracle even Tsunade would have admired.
The weak figure was none other than Kisame, whom Obito had saved at the last second. In that situation, only Obito's abilities could have managed a rescue.
Seeing Uchiha Yi, Kisame was overcome with fear, his entire body radiating terror as he pleaded loudly.
"I'm surrendering! Please, let me go!"
"Whatever you say, I'll agree to it!"
