Chapter 12 - Chapter 011: Observing the Daily Life of an Urchin

As far as the kids were concerned - years this may have well passed for the two young sisters. For an ancient kitten who had challenged then dragged primordial gods themselves from their thrones? It was a blink of an eye for the trio of kittens.

Of course, no matter how they perceived it, months had passed since the two groups met.

Any worries that Hisana had about keeping the unusual kitten around had long passed as (somehow) the feline appeared healthier than them. All despite them never giving any food to the cat. Not that neither of them didn't attempt to feed her on several occasions… That pussy-cat simply wasn't willing to accept it.

Batting their hand away was the common response with that cat never revealing her claws yet Hisana had long given up on feeding her. They also found out it was her when they came across a stray tom. Hisana was just glad that Rukia wasn't there at the time; that was not the sight an innocent girl should see.

Although the older sister was curious about how this little cat, now growing into a "proper lady" even if still on the smaller side, gathered food. Still she couldn't exactly ask. Or at least she was completely aware that the cat was far smarter than her or anyone else in the godforsaken realm.

Meanwhile Rukia showed no such concerns as she still tried to offer a bit of bread to the kitten.

"Come on~ be a good kitty and open up~!"

Holding a torn off piece of bread (not exactly the nice soft bread of the 21st century) that she attempted to push between the lips of the two tailed black cats.

Said cat just narrowed her crimson eyes with the most unamused look that could have possibly been seen since the beginning of life on planet earth. Obviously the bread did not, in fact, make it past her lips. What did happen was she slowly raised her paw causing Rukia to tilt her head.

Looking down curiously on what that cat was planning to do only for that cat to utilise her other front paw to slam the food up & out of Rukia's hand. Somehow landing straight into her open mouth. Hisana, who was off to the side folding up their bedding, couldn't help but laugh at her younger sibling.

Realising she had once again been played by their cat; Rukia could only pout while slowly moving her jaw to munch on that hard bread.

"When will you learn that you can't force her to do what you want?"

Shaking her head but with a lighthearted smile gracing her lips.

"Hmpf!"

Unable to even complain since the bread was keeping her mouth well & truly busy with no chance of a witty comeback should she find one. Though she did manage to cross her arms to express her distaste for her unfair treatment. The kitty based cause of this merely rolled her eyes at the two sisters.

Having been enjoying a nice cat nap until the pair had arrived back home with the youngest having the intention of testing her luck. Evidently she was unlucky. That cat could barely stand other people eating after years of meditation let alone actually eating herself.

Such a scaredy cat~.

Most creatures are required to eat - even bacteria to an extent "eats".

If you're not sca~red… Why not chew on a bi~t?

That is a horrible idea. Our stomach was weak in our past life and, while stronger, this body has not used it since we first came into existence. With such a lacking track record there is no doubt that difficulties will occur when trying to digest the food ranging from vomiting to her little kitty gut bursting internally.

Bet?

... Such a scenario would certainly be quite the educational endeavour.

The cat in control could not stop her growing frown as her brow twitched; she was not like the other two who always carried a smile. She was far more expressive when it came to her displeasure. Something she was most definitely feeling the need to express at the moment.

Why no~t take a gamble?

Is the advancement of science not all the benefits we need!?

...

Chehanyahe!

That "laugh" erupted for the "enjoyment" of both Cheshire & the kitty in control - neither being able to escape from the mad cat.

Her struggles were unable to be understood by others.

Fortunately the cat had her attention captured due to Hisana clearing her throat; initially intended to capture the attention of her moping sister. Something she certainly did. Making Rukia tilt her head in confusion about the strange sound coming out of her elder sister.

"Are you okay Hisa-nee?"

"Yes but why don't you take… Nyanyo out to try to find some berries for some snacks?"

The little black cat - initially feared across all of reality as master of the outer gods - could not help shivering when that cursed "name" came up. When it came to creative pursuits… Rukia was certainly creative and the same could be said when she came up with names.

She was also the one chose the "name" for the fearsome feline.

Ah yes you have m~e~, Cheshire and Nyanyo.

Chehehehahaha~!

That kitty's claws unwillingly came out to slowly scratch across the table in an attempt to tune out the three stage evil laugh which was at her expense. An act that seemed to, more so, get the attention of the two sisters who looked at it then at each other. Obviously confused over the cat's sudden anger.

"Plus… It looks like she needs some outside time."

"Nn!"

Nodding along cutely with an overly serious look on those puffy cheeks of hers; clearly taking her task with the utmost importance. Stumbling over to take "Nyanyo" into her arms. Pressing the fuzzy her against her chest with the forepaws falling over her arms while leaving her lower half to dangle.

From there she essentially charged out of the hut with all the horsepower of a speeding wagon. There were obviously still a lot of people milling about - the population density was high while the daylight was bright as could be. However Rukai was wise enough to ignore anyone they met along the way.

Helped by the fact she was moving with a clear goal. This alone made people less likely to interrupt her since there was a commonly held rule within this lawless area. "You never get involved with someone else's business no matter what".

It didn't take long before the pair of cat & girl had made it outside the bounds of the city where they quickly came across the paddyfields that fed said city.

… Or rather it fed the well off.

"Now how do we find some berries…?"

The rather simple minded one tapped her chin with a look of curiosity on her field - turning her entire head as she tried to find berry bushes. Of course she wouldn't find any here. A fact that she didn't realise which in turn made her fuzzy companion let out a sigh.

That cat turned her own gaze towards the forest in the distance; close to where she first met that curious little mischief maker. Feeling that the brat had grown a lot in the little time she had known her. It made her curious how Rukia would grow in the future.

Thus is the woes of child rearing!

Closing her eyes as she tried to find enjoyment in the situation… Although that proved to be quite difficult with the sun causing her skin to flare up as well as being lugged around by a little girl. It wasn't exactly the most comfortable mode of transport.

Rukia constantly ran about as she looked about those plentiful fields in a pitiful attempt to try finding berries despite being places where bushes had no place being. That unfortunate kitty just being along for the very bumpy ride. Though it did highlight her superb self control.

"Hm, I can't seem to find any, I can't remember what they look like."

Mumbling to herself but not nearly quiet enough for "Nyanyo" to not hear; leading to the cat's brow visibly trembling with annoyance at the silly little girl.

Letting out an audible sigh while trying to ignore the mocking laughs of her fellows.

Her lack of "luck" was nowhere near enough to keep the little girl down - continuing until the sun began to fall below the actual location of the fabled berries.

Only then could they once again call an end to yet another day in her new life.
