"You do~n't think that everything is under control, do~ you?" ??????????>
The little black cat was abruptly awoken in the middle of the night; her gaze soon meeting another pair of crimson feline eyes. These ones with a thick black outline around the red. Almost as if a barrier keeping a pool of bloodshed at bay.
That cat's instincts screamed at them to be fearful of the figure in front of them yet they also were not one to let their fear control them.
Silently choosing to study this new intruder only to find their appearance one that was quite familiar to her for a very obvious reason. This new entity looked exactly like her. Her eyes were slightly different but other features essentially perfectly matched her own if a bit more well groomed.
Although once one stopped looking for the small details it became harder & harder to ignore the elephant that was in the room. Throughout her body, in selective places, were crimson threads. Some force that black cat's mouth into a permanent grin while others just lay along her limbs as well as back.
Even that cat's tail found itself in a crimson net that kind of reminded her of what that eldest daughter of hers liked to use red rope for. It was hard to appreciate the beauty of the cat, though. Partly because of her instincts along with a feeling of recognition when she looked upon those vermillion strings.
By themselves they were rather beautiful. While it may be rather concerning that they literally pierced through that cat's skin - it made for a rather eerily alluring sight. One that likely would only increase if one got to see whatever humanoid form she likely had.
Yet those strings were far more than a fashion statement.
"What do you think you are doing…?"
Her words contained caution while she refused to turn her gaze away from her fellow feline. That other cat didn't seem to care, though, as she just watched as the little black cat stood up on all fours to meet her eye to eye. Both of them being exactly the same height as their little pink noses only barely didn't hit.
Neither of them caring to realise that (should anyone actually walk up on them) to others it would appear to be an absolutely adorable scene of two little cats staring at one another.
A scene that would likely get most people to release an audibly squeal of delight.
"Do you no~t comprehend the gamble yo~u've taken; you assume that this real~m is safe because it's not the table you usually s~it at…" ??????????>
"What can a cluster of meagre humans do that can catch me unaware?"
Snorting at the words of the other cat who in turn just openly laughed at her. Not even caring to hide the amusement she felt for the overconfidence of her peer - a fog of darkness pouring from behind that eldritch pussy. Reaching out like tendrils to drag everything inside that it could wrap its limbs around.
Even that was not enough to cause the little black cat to turn away or step back; standing her ground as the darkness sought to consume her.
Remaining strong.
"Who said an~y~thing about hu~mans?" ??????????>
Abruptly the world around her changed as she opened her eyes only to see the morning sun once again peeking through the holes in the hut. Her fur is doing its best to keep that pest from affecting her. A task it at least was semi-efficient at doing even if she couldn't help wishing she had a parasol to keep it away.
Lifting her head up groggily revealed there to be no signs of that prior scene - eyes turning to study all around only to reveal nothing unusual going on. Gaze drifting downwards where the two young human sisters lay in sleep. Hugging each other in a cute scene that softened the cat's eyes.
You look like you've just seen a ghost chehehe~.
Once more her eyes narrowed as she turned down to look at her own shadow with suspicion clearly written all across her feline face.
Got an~y dice?
Becau~se the roulette wheel is alre~ady spinning and it's about ti~me to see what it'll la~nd on.
That cat could only frown.
Player or not… The pie~ces are on the bo~ard.
Will this have any influence on my plans to build a laboratory under the lords man-
Snorting loudly as she decided to go for a morning walk in order to clear her mind from the strange events that happened in her dreams or possibly nightmares. Agility made her way out the house through a hole in the roof at which point she did just as she did on her first day. Jumping from building to building.
Realising this she couldn't help ponder back to one place in particular.
It also appeared that his spectral chain was keeping him bound to the building, specifically the vault, not that he looked interested in going anywhere else.
Their third merely laughed in that same chaotic fashion that she always did only to suddenly stop leaving an eerie silence behind.
A silence that they promptly chose to ignore in favour of focusing on reaching their destination.
It had been a few months since they found the dead man but their memory served them well as they quickly found their way toward the large property. Hopping over the walls to once again look around the inside of the lord's residence. Finding that security as a whole seemed to be tighter… At least at first.
Getting closer to the old manor revealed that there was a significant lack of guards when compared to her first trip to the abandoned building. That wasn't the first thing to notice, though. She picked up on some far more troubling factors than a mere lack of people milling about.
The front of the door seemed to have been caved in from the inside while a familiar yet very different energy leaked from inside the darkened hallway.
Hopping over the gate to look inside revealed claw like markings marring the more than just the floor; like some unknown beast had climbed & thrashed about at everything in it's reach. A sight that certainly didn't match with her last visit there. Before it wasn't even derelict - a few days of care would have fixed things.
Now it was hard to find something at the entrance that was in one piece and while the darkness hid the deepest depths from her vision… She recognised the stench of blood. There was even a bloody trail leading into that dark abyss.
Oh my how sca~ry.
I'll give it a seven out of ten for now but that can be marked up or down depending on the follow up - so far it certainly has the right atmosphere so one cannot complain!
"Nyehehe~"
Her amusement was clear in the laugh that escaped from the feline.
Still… This world is finally getting intriguing chehehehaha~.
Maybe the lord was an even worse person that we thought or maybe we aren't dealing with demons.
<... Truthfully it hardly feels like demonic energy but more like spiritual energy that had been too influenced by their own sin. In other words it's impure spiritual energy? It's not like we haven't seen such things before yet that doesn't answer why it's here.>
We are overlooking something… This is a world detached from the spirit world & demon realm so why would it follow the rules we or anyone else put down? I think what we are feeling is the result of that chain getting ground down into nothingness - with no more chain the sin must have eaten away at his soul.
It likely began eating away at his very mind… Best be careful since we have no idea what could be waiting for us inside chehehe~!
That inquisitive voice appearing far more excited than it likely should have been.
<...Why do you sound so excited?>
Why wouldn't I be excited~!
She could only curse the side of her that represented the researcher they once were; her gaze instead refocusing on the sight in front of her. Letting out a long sigh. It appeared that this world was less peaceful than she assumed but still she didn't find any real reason to complain.
As such they began to walk into the darkness with those two black tails calmly waving behind her; one actually being noticeably shorter than the other now that both had grown out properly.
Just simply study whatever monster it became then come back to play with the girls.
… You are really bad at hedging your bets.
Afterall none of the cats even knew the taste of pie let alone how to make one.
