The tension between Lisa and Corvus was palpable, a growing storm ready to explode. They were seated in a dimly lit room, the soft hum of city lights filtering in through the window, casting long shadows on the walls. The air was thick with anticipation, each of them aware of the dangerous game they were playing.
Lisa sat across from Corvus, trying to keep her emotions under control. She had been working with Corvus for weeks now, but part of her still struggled with the reality of what it meant. She had crossed a line, and now there was no turning back.
Corvus, for his part, was calm, calculating. His plans were unfolding as he had envisioned, and with each passing moment, he was one step closer to his goal- destroying Lucifer. His obsession with the fallen angel had consumed him for millennia, and now the end was near.
"We need to draw him out," Corvus said, his voice low and steady. "We can't let him hide behind the illusion of safety any longer. He will fall.
" Lisa nodded, her gaze distant. "How do you plan to do that?
" Corvus leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with something dark and dangerous. He pulled something from his coat-a blade, sleek and deadly. It was the Azrael blade, the weapon of unimaginable power capable of killing even an immortal like Lucifer.
"This will do it," Corvus said, holding the blade up. "With this, I can finally end him. But we need to make him believe that his life is in danger. We need to make him think that someone he trusts is going to betray him.
" Lisa's heart skipped a beat as she glanced at the blade. She had heard of the Azrael blade-an artifact so powerful it could sever the ties between life and death itself. It was the perfect tool for Corvus's plan, but it also carried a heavy price.
"What do you need me to do?" Lisa asked, her voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking too loudly would shatter the fragile moment.
Corvus smiled, his expression cold and calculating. "I need you to get close to him. To make him believe that you're the only one who can save him. And then... when the time is right, we will strike.
" Lisa felt a pang of unease in her chest, but she pushed it aside. She had a part to play, and there was no turning back now.
---
Selene had been tracking Lisa for days now, but she knew the moment was coming. She had followed Lisa to the abandoned building at the outskirts of the city. She stayed hidden, watching through a crack in the window as Lisa and Corvus sat, discussing the final steps of their twisted plan.
Corvus smiled, a sinister gleam in his eyes. "We wait for Lucifer to make a move. And when he does, we'll be ready." He turned, revealing the blade of Azrael – the only weapon capable of killing Lucifer. "This will end it, Lisa. Once Lucifer is dead, nothing will stand in my way."
Lisa watched, her face impassive, her mind seemingly elsewhere. Selene's heart sank. She knew the ritual Corvus had performed on Lisa had worked – the snake mark on her neck was proof enough.
She was about to move to warn Lucifer when a dark figure blocked the door. Corvus's men. They were waiting for her.
The confrontation was inevitable.
---
Selene darted to the side, using the darkness to her advantage. She knew how to fight, better than most, and these men were no match for her. As the first man lunged, she spun, her knee connecting with his gut, sending him crashing into the wall.
Two more rushed her. With a quick flick of her wrist, she summoned the hidden blades concealed in her sleeve, slicing through the air with deadly precision. One man fell, his throat slit, while the other staggered back, shocked.
"Is that all you've got?" Selene taunted, her voice cold and dangerous.
The remaining men regrouped, and this time, they moved in a tighter formation. But Selene was quicker. She dived low, taking out their legs with a swift swipe of her feet. She rose, spinning around to strike at the last man, knocking him unconscious with a well-placed elbow.
But the numbers were too great. As she caught her breath, she heard more footsteps. The sound was growing louder, the air thick with the scent of blood and sweat.
Two more appeared from the shadows, one carrying a long chain, the other wielding a thick metal pipe. They came at her with coordinated attacks, but Selene was already planning her next move.
She dropped to the floor, avoiding the chain's whip-like snap, and used her momentum to sweep the man holding the pipe off his feet. He crashed to the floor with a loud thud. But as she stood, the man with the chain wrapped it around her waist, yanking her backward.
Selene struggled, but the grip was too tight. A fist collided with her face, and she felt her head spin. She gritted her teeth, pushing through the pain. This wasn't the end. She wouldn't let it be.
With a surge of strength, Selene twisted, using the chain against him. She wrapped it around his neck, pulling him down, and with one swift motion, snapped it, leaving him gasping for air.
But before she could react, the door behind her slammed open, and more men flooded in. She fought back, but it was clear: she was outnumbered. The men overpowered her, taking her down with brute force, knocking her unconscious before dragging her away.
---
When Selene woke, she was in a dimly lit room, her arms bound to a chair. She could hear Corvus's voice in the distance, a mocking tone cutting through the silence.
She shook her head, trying to clear the fog from her mind. She had to warn Lucifer, had to get to him before Corvus did.
But then she saw her – Lisa, sitting across the room, her gaze cold and distant. The snake mark was still visible on her neck, glowing faintly.
"Selene," Lisa's voice was calm, devoid of emotion. "You're wasting your time."
Selene struggled against her restraints. "Lisa, listen to me. You're under Corvus's influence. You can't see it, but you're not yourself. He's using you."
Lisa didn't reply, just stared at her, her eyes void of any recognition.
Then, a familiar voice interrupted the tension.
"Ah, my dear sister." Corvus entered the room, a cruel smile on his face. "I didn't think this would be how we'd meet again after millennia, but a win is a win."
Selene glared at him, her teeth gritted. "You'll never get away with this."
Corvus chuckled, walking over to her. "You see, I don't need to get away with it. I just need Lucifer dead. And with Azrael's blade, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
He turned, his gaze sweeping over Lisa. "And you, my dear, are going to help me. You see, there's no one else who can stand in my way now."
Selene's heart twisted in disbelief as she glanced at Lisa, but the look in her eyes was empty, absent of the person she once knew.
"I won't let you do this," Selene spat, trying again to break free.
Corvus's eyes narrowed. "You will. And if you try anything, I'll make sure you never see the light of day again."
He gestured to his men, who moved to subdue her. They began to beat her, their punches landing with brutal force.
Lisa didn't move, her gaze unchanging.
"Stop it!" Selene yelled, but her voice was drowned out by the sound of fists striking her body.
Corvus watched, amused, as Selene was left battered and bloody. When he finally called off his men, he stepped forward, his expression unbothered.
"Now, dear sister," he said, bending down so their faces were mere inches apart. "It's time to face the reality that nothing will stop me. Lucifer is as good as dead, and you… well, you're just another casualty."
Selene's vision blurred, but she managed to hiss through gritted teeth, "You'll regret this."
With a final glance at Lisa, Corvus gave an order to his men. "Lock her up. Heavily guard the cell. No one gets in or out without my say."
As the men dragged her away, Selene's mind raced. She had to find a way out. She had to warn Lucifer before it was too late. But for now, she had to survive.
