Even while he had no idea why his first instinct was to apologize and coax her, he still couldn't stop himself from following that instinct. It just felt right.
"Darling, be good. I'm sorry I wanted meat, or that I wanted it raw. I should have just taken the eggs then. It should have occurred to me how much you hated the thought of anything dying seeing how you couldn't bear to leave me for dead. I apologize, really Darla."
She seemed to have calmed down, but she still would not look at him, and she'd gone all red once more, it was even more endearing how she never noticed, but it was more of a switch being flipped, and she would suddenly go all red. He seemed to like it.
No.
Was it the way he subconsciously addressed her as darling or how holding her just felt natural?
Holding her?
He was holding her!
No wonder she was so red?
Bloody meat, be damned! I'm cooked!
"Ah... sorry about this, I hope this doesn't come off as taking advantage of you, I was just...Oh!" She cut him off by wrapping her hands around him and backing off immediately.
"It's fine", she answered and walked off into the house.
It's been five hours since she broke down this morning and she'd been avoiding him, even though it's cute how her round eyes seem to focus on everything except him and she was almost falling over everything she still wouldn't look at me, it still rubbed him the wrong way. He had to get her attention back on him.
"Darla, I'm hurt!"
