Returning to her desk, Lena found an envelope resting on top of her laptop. She froze, her pulse quickening. It was identical to the ones she'd received before: unmarked, with her name scrawled in bold letters.
She opened it with trembling hands. Inside was a single slip of paper bearing a short but jarring message:
"Check the server logs. The answer is in the patterns."
Her breath caught. The server logs. The breach. The footage of Reed entering the server room suddenly resurfaced in her mind. Was the footage planted? Manipulated? Her instincts screamed that someone was trying to misdirect her, but she had to know for sure.
