Chapter 9 - Burn!

"I assumed you were only going to kill a few of them," Ravon said after respectfully bowing to Cain after entering his office, mentally estimating what kind of mood he was in before he dove deeper into the topic he wanted to discuss.

Cain only leaned deeper into the chair he sat on without responding to what Ravon, his vice said as he flicked through the papers in front of him contending the full details of the new servants, most of them well written.

"It doesn't matter! They're all spies," Cain said in a low but deep tone when he finally spoke, his huge statue fitting smugly into the huge chair he sat on.

"They were all carefully chosen with by my uncle, Lord Edric. They all deserve to die!" Cain continued speaking, his expression blank even though his eyes had a cruel glint to them as he kept flipping through the pages on his desk until his fingers came to a stop on one in particular.

A young skinny man with violet eyes.

"What about the one you almost killed, I was surprised when you left him alive and shot someone else?" Ravine asked, back straight even with his head slightly lowered to show that he was very much Cain's subordinate.

The scars on his back, a reminder of when Cain suddenly decided there was no reason to keep him alive.

"Him! I like his eyes!" Cain replied, staring down at the name on the sheet he had very carefully gone through, enough to know the name of everyone he killed, or at least the name they gave him.

"He's a terrible spy!" Cain continued in a low murmur one that any ordinary human would have been unable to hear, except that Ravon was a Werewolf too and easily picked it up.

"I'll give them a general lesson and assign them to their respective positions. Is there anyone you would prefer to assist you?" Ravon carefully asked, considering the body of the last person that had been by Cain's side was still hanging dead by the gates.

"It doesn't matter!" Cain responded, his gaze drifting up to the sky as he swiveled his chair around to the large transparent planes of windows behind him that allowed him to see the back stretch of his mansion that was covered mostly with red flowers just as he liked it.

Ravon, knowing better than to push his luck bowed his head to show that he was done, ready to leave. But he had just moved to do so when to his slight surprise he heard Cain open his mouth to speak but this time around in a tone that made fear slither down his neck like a noose.

"I know you work for my Uncle and I allow it but if you're ever this obvious again, I'll send your body back to my Uncle in pieces," Cain slowly said even as he twiddled a pen around his fingers as he continued to stare at the sky that looked more gray than blue.

"…he'll shout and rave at me but you'll be replaced by morning!" a clear warning that Ravon very much understood as he bowed his head lower when he responded.

"I understand!" he said before walking out of the door, his fists tightening more out of fear than anything else.

'Knowing how irrational he is makes me fear him even more regardless of the ten years I've been here!' Ravon thought to himself as he hastened to put more distance between him and Cain's office in the third floor of the mansion.

Cain on the other hand simply continued to blankly stare outside even as he sat in his chair without trying to move a muscle.

Every single person in the mansion had been placed there by his Uncle having learnt over the years the consequences of letting his guard down.

'They all deserve to die, don't they?" he whispered under his breath, an ice-cold feeling surging right from his heart begging him to simply get it over with. Telling him that it was better to be completely surrounded with blood and dead bodies than people that were simply waiting for an opportunity to hurt him.

Better to rip out their intestines and split their skills wide-open, turning them into play-things than to simply wait for them to hurt him, having learnt from past experiences that they were all the same, working against him.

His gaze focused on the red flower garden beneath his window the only reason he was yet to burn Mansion itself into ashes and flames. That and the potions his uncle kept feeding him, the only thing keeping his curse from spreading and turning him into a mindless beast.

"Does it matter? Does any of this matter?" he whispered again to himself knowing that the moment he found the answer he was looking for, he would burn everyone and everything to the ground starting with the Witch who killed his family and placed the beast curse on him.

****************

The first thing Violet felt when she woke up was a splittering headache, one that threatened to crack her skull open as she groaned loudly in pain, heaving her body to a sitting position.

For the first few minutes she couldn't even bring herself to look at her environments even as she came to terms with the fact that she was still alive.

Fresh tears of relief cascading down her face before she realized that they were there. But with no time to cry, Violet wiped her eyes and was just about scramble off the bed when a loud knock echoed from the door of the room she was in, just before someone walked in.

A male servant.

"Good! You're awake. The last thing I need to do is bath and care for you like a child," The your man said, saying words that made Violet's eyes widen in absolute fear as she realized that a few hours later and her secret would have been discovered.

"You're a servant here, get your ass up and follow me!" he said leaving the door open and beckoning for Violet to walk out.
