Chapter 1 - Melodic Dawn

Beijing's morning light crept through the blinds, casting a warm glow on Xiao Zhan's cozy apartment. He woke up to the gentle hum of his alarm clock, a soft melody that signaled the start of his day. Stretching his slender frame, he swung his legs over the side of the bed, his feet dangling in the air.

Xiao Zhan's gaze drifted to the guitar leaning against the wall, its polished surface reflecting the morning light. He smiled, feeling an overwhelming urge to play. His fingers instinctively reached for the instrument, and he began to strum a soothing melody.

The music filled the room, a gentle breeze that carried away the remnants of sleep. As he played, Xiao Zhan smirked and thought about his students, thinking who would be ready to tackle the complex piece he had planned for today's lesson.

The music school's corridors bustled with students chatting and laughing. Xiao Zhan walked through the familiar halls, exchanging warm smiles with colleagues and students alike. His patience and kindness had earned him a special place in the hearts of his students.

"Good morning, professor Xiao!" Li Ming, the school administrator, greeted him with a friendly wave.

"Good morning, Li Ming. Ready for another busy day?" Xiao Zhan replied, his soft features creasing into a gentle smile.

"maybe" she said giggling.

As he entered his classroom,

Xiao Zhan's eyes scanned the room, familiar with every face. He had taught most of these students for months, witnessing their growth and progress. As he began to write on the chalkboard, the students settled in, eager for the day's lesson.

"Today, we'll explore the nuances of Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major," Xiao Zhan announced, his voice calm and reassuring.

The students nodded, some taking notes while others simply listened intently. Xiao Zhan's teaching style was engaging, making complex concepts accessible.

As the lesson progressed, Xiao Zhan moved around the room, offering individual guidance and encouragement. His patience and kindness put even the most struggling students at ease.

The lesson concluded, and the students packed up their belongings. Xiao Zhan remained at his desk, organizing his notes and collecting his thoughts.

For a moment, he reflected on his journey as a music teacher. The joy of sharing his passion, the satisfaction of seeing students grow...

His gaze drifted to a photograph that slipped from one of the file on his desk – a snapshot from last year's music festival, where one of his students had performed exceptionally well.

Xiao Zhan's gaze lingered on the photograph, memories of his former student, Lin Feng, flooding his mind. Lin Feng's exceptional talent and dedication had made him a standout. His performance at last year's music festival still resonated with Xiao Zhan.

But life had taken Lin Feng elsewhere – to a prestigious music conservatory in Shanghai. Xiao Zhan couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and loss.

The students filed out of the classroom, chatting and laughing. Xiao Zhan packed up his belongings, his mind still on the lesson. He hummed a gentle melody as he left the school building.

The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over Beijing's streets. Xiao Zhan strolled through the familiar neighborhood, stopping at a nearby café. He ordered a jasmine tea and sat by the window, watching people pass by.

Lost in thought, he scribbled notes on a new composition, inspired by Chopin's nocturnes.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Xiao Zhan closed his notebook and headed home.

Xiao Zhan's apartment welcomed him with its cozy silence. He set aside his guitar, picked up a book, and settled into his favorite armchair.

The evening wore on, with only the occasional sound of pages turning breaking the silence.

'Tomorrow would bring a new day, new lessons' he thought to himself.
