Chereads / Love In Perfect Pitch - Zhan & Yibo / Chapter 6 - Echoes Of Emptiness

Chapter 6 - Echoes Of Emptiness

it's been more than a month after they started there music sessions into regular outing. as the days were passing both the professor and student got closer to each other, sencing more than enough and finding peace in each other's presence. one day.

Zhan' POV:

i was sitting on my couch planning my day with yibo i find myself happy and relaxed when i am with him and i basically plan our day just me and yibo i don't know but i like this boy he is fun to hang out with. and Yibo's text arrived, disrupting my afternoon calm.

"Hey, Zhan. Heading to Shanghai to see my parents. Five days."

My thumb hovered over the screen, a pang of emptiness settling in.

'aww but i was planning our day' i felt sad why is he going there so suddenly should have informed me sooner.

"Safe trip. I'll drop you off at the station." i texted him without any delay. 'atleast i can drop him off'

The drive to the station was filled with small talk, but my mind wandered. I would miss Yibo's bright presence. because we were always together.

As we parked, Yibo gathered his belongings. "Thanks, Zhan. You didn't have to."he said.

"I wanted to," I replied, smiling.

We walked to the platform, the station's bustle surrounding us. Yibo's hand brushed against mine, a fleeting touch. "Take care, okay?" I said, as we parted ways.

Yibo smiled. "You too." aww i already miss this boy.

Watching him disappear into the crowd, I felt a hollowness.

The drive back home was quiet, my thoughts consumed by Yibo.

After dropping Yibo off at the station, I drove back home, the silence feeling oppressive. The city's vibrant streets seemed dull without Yibo by my side. it was common for me to sit in silence but after i met yibo silence is consuming me. so i put on some classical music.

On a whim, I decided to stop by a cozy café, hoping to shake off the emptiness. As I sat down at a small table, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee enveloped me. But without Yibo to share it with, the experience felt hollow. i sat back, surrounded by the gentle hum of conversations. My mind began to wander.

well is it odd to think about my student? I recalled our first music session together, when he struggled with advance tones it's shocking how he can attract girls so easily.

Yibo's passion for piano igniting a spark within me. His laughter, his smile, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm his performance.

my coffee grew cold, forgotten in my reverie.

i knew what i was feeling and it was stressing me out i was stressing about my actions i was basically overthinking all the things that happened between me and yibo.

i was scared at first when i invited him to my apartment i wasn't thinking much when i asked him to come and practicing at my apartment when thode words left my mouth i regret that honestly i mean not anymore but at that moment i was scared what yibo would think of me.

but then i got to know more about him he is cheerful and often feels shy i wondered if he was scared of me turned out he knew me from a long time. i laughed to myself thinking about his silly acts.

Memories of our movie night flooded my thoughts. i let yibo select the movie that night and he suggested a rom-com i was fine with anything. Yibo's hand brushing against mine, the thrill of that fleeting touch. i froze for a moment well it was not the first time our hands brushed like that but it was because of the scene that was playing at that moment.

the memories of the festival they went together, adventure flashed before my eyes. Yibo's joy in making traditional lanterns, our hands touching as we worked together, and i felt shy because lately it was happening alot. The way he looked at me, his gaze filled with admiration. looking at the sky togeth- and my thoughts froze even i froze at my spot. so many things were happening i didn't even though about that.

end of POV.

Xiao Zhan's thoughts froze as he recalled the evening Wang Yibo said, "Even the moon's full today, it's beautiful, isn't it?" The phrase echoed in his mind, its significance striking him like a gentle breeze. He had heard it before, in a conversation about ancient romance phrases. "The moon is pretty, isn't it?" was a subtle confession of love.

Zhan's heart skipped a beat. Could it be? Did Yibo mean it that way? He replayed their interactions, searching for signs. Yibo's gaze, his smile, the way he leaned in when they talked. It all seemed so obvious now.

As he sat there, lost in thought, the café's ambiance faded into the background. His mind raced with possibilities. What if Yibo felt the same way? What if this was more than just a teacher-student bond?

With a newfound sense of awareness, Zhan gathered his belongings and left the café. The evening air carried a promise of uncertainty, but he felt an excitement he couldn't ignore.

As he drove home, his thoughts lingered on Wang Yibo, wondering what his return from Shanghai would bring.

Upon arriving home, Zhan couldn't shake off the feeling that his perspective had shifted. He sat down at his piano, letting his fingers dance across the keys. The melody flowed like a river, carrying his emotion.

Why did everything feel so different without Yibo?

I couldn't shake the feeling that my feelings for him went beyond friendship. The emptiness was suffocating, and so was the eagerness to know the truth.

the next day.

Xiao Zhan arrived at the university, his mind still reeling from the previous day's revelation. He headed to the administration office, seeking out his friend Li ming.

"Zhan! Long time no see!" Li ming exclaimed, as Xiao Zhan entered the office.

"Li ming, I need your expertise," Xiao Zhan said, taking a seat.

"Shoot, what's on your mind?" Li ming leaned back in her chair, intrigued.

"That phrase, 'The moon is pretty, isn't it?' What does it mean?" Xiao Zhan asked.

Li ming's expression turned knowing. "Ah, that's an old romantic phrase. It's a subtle way of saying 'I love you.'" Xiao Zhan's heart skipped a beat. "Are you sure?"

Li ming nodded. "Positive. My grandmother used to tell me stories about ancient courtship rituals. That phrase was a secret code between lovers." he chocked on his saliva. "Lo-lovers?", Xiao Zhan's thoughts whirled. Wang Yibo's words took on a new significance.

"Thanks, Li ming. You're a lifesaver," Xiao Zhan said, standing up."No problem, Zhan. But what's got you so curious?" Li ming asked.

Xiao Zhan smiled enigmatically. "Just clarifying some things. i need to go now bye bye." he said and left her office.

after the day spending teaching, roaming around and thinking about yibo he went to his apartment the only thing that didn't change was thinking about Yibo. "oh my god he even asked for a family dinner" he just realised by thinking again and again about their moments. now he just needed to wait for yibo to come back. but he was still confused of his own feelings.
