Lunar was getting ready for the competition when the day came. When the tournament matchups were announced, it turned out Lunar wouldn't meet Aurora till the finals. There were 16 elites from the school. Lunar went to get ready for the first fight.
"Lunar, good luck out there."
Aurora beamed with a calm, reassuring smile.
Lunar went out into the colossal arena that looked like an ancient battlefield with swords lying on the ground, there was a figure in front of him, a young woman with black hair and brown eyes, she had an air of nobility with a slender body and was wearing a black tunic that reached to her knees. The narrator of the show started:
"Welcome! ladies and gentlemen, today will be an assessment of all tier 1 students at the academy. We have Elena on one side and Lunar on the other. Elena is favored to win it all; let's see how this fight plays out!"
Lunar summoned Void as the narrator continued:
"Only two rules: no killing, which is obvious, and have fun!"
Lunar stared at Elena as she summoned a
sword made of ice and seemed to control ice that was breathtaking, in a sadistic way, Lunar struck first and tried to take her head; she blocked, but she used her fist and punched Lunar. Dodging, he jumped and struck her in the back. She used some kind of spell and summoned a barrier. Lunar grinned, and used void control on the barrier. Time stopped, and everything became nothing as the void swallowed the world, and the barrier became no more. Lunar used that window to hug her back, and blood gushing from her back, she spoke in a whisper.
"I forfeit."
Lunar summoned his void to stop the blood.
And the tier 2 healer came from the stands and healed her as she was being taken away. Lunar went back to Aurora and told her:
"It's your turn. Good luck."
Aurora looked with pride and beamed:
"You know I don't need it."
Lunar chuckled before Aurora's fight. There was a fight between some noble named Xavier and Mary, which seemed to be a soul pair. They fought, mirroring each other's movements, the partners enthralled in a dance that was as beautiful as it was scary. They were both formidable, as formidable as beasts, even though it ended in a draw, both striking the other in seconds. When it was Aurora's turn, she had to fight Elena's soulmate named Noah, who was a brown-haired, brown-eyed man with a medium build wearing a black, loose t-shirt, black pants and a brown leather jacket.
The narrator started:
"We have Aurora on one side and Elena's partner Noah on the other side. Will this be revenge?"
Aurora paid the narrator no mind and stared at Noah with a killing gaze, but Noah just looked dumbfounded and asked:
"You're the partner of the one who beat Elena. His name was um... Lunar, yeah, Lunar, you should be strong, so let's have a nice fight."
Aurora bowed respectfully and beamed:
"Alright, let's have a nice fight."
Aurora summoned a white sword that looked like it was made of light. Noah summoned an axe and summoned a fire that resembled the hell flame that burned with a bright and hot flame that looked to be a fragment of the sun before their swords clashed, and so did their souls. Aurora and Noah clashed, Aurora used her light to try to blind him, but Noah used his flames to bite back. Aurora spun, Noah was about to strike, but he didn't see far enough. Aurora's power was blinding; it was using light to enter the soul, and instead of devouring like Lunar, it added instead. Noah had no thoughts, but surprisingly he had all thoughts; he could see nothing and everything but not quite. Noah realized it wasn't everything he mustered a thought:
'I can see time, this can only be something above it all. This is what I'm seeing, this is the passage of time.'
Aurora put her sword close to Noah's neck. Noah spoke calmly and chuckling.:
"Don't worry, princess, I surrender."
The narrator started:
"All battles of today have been completed. Aurora and Lunar are the last left, Now it's time for the final battle! Which of the soulmates would win?"
