Angela's Perspective
Kael was under the moonlight, his silhouette barely discernible except for the slight gleam in his eyes. The atmosphere was heavy with tension, almost suffocating. Angela felt her heart pounding in her chest as she attempted to control her breathing. The thing she least expected was encountering Kael in this location, particularly after all that transpired.
"What do you want to discuss?" Angela 's voice came out sharper than she had planned, but she couldn't control it. She was already feeling anxious.
Kael glanced from Angela to Devin , a cautious expression appearing on his face. His body language conveyed tension, with his arms hanging by his sides as if he was prepared for either a confrontation or a discussion, leaving Angela uncertain of his intentions.
Devin moved a little closer, with his gun still by his side but prepared. "Did you not follow us?" He spoke in a low, icy tone.
Kael's head shook as his lips formed a tight line. Negative. I've been monitoring another thing. Something larger."
The heavy and uncertain words lingered awkwardly between them. Angela looked at Devin briefly, then turned her gaze back to Kael. She sensed the heaviness of an unspoken, significant matter that Kael was keeping to himself.
"I have to listen to this," Angela stated, inhaling slowly, attempting to maintain a steady voice. "Inform me of the current situation."
Kael changed his position, locking eyes with her in a way that caused her chest to constrict. The Alpha King's plans are progressing more quickly than we anticipated. Angela , he's not only interested in you. There are other individuals - wolves similar to you, connected to the ancient magic. He is pursuing all of them.
Angela blinked, feeling her stomach wrenching. Anyone else? She had never come across anyone similar to herself. This magical ability within her had always seemed like something she was the only one experiencing. Finding out that there were others going through the same thing was unexpected and it surprised her.
"What is the basis for your knowledge?" Devin inquired, his sceptical tone apparent.
Kael clenched his jaw. "I have witnessed it." I've been tracking the path for several weeks. Wolves have been vanishing mysteriously, without leaving any signs behind. Those who don't vanish... they turn out like Ronan. His voice trailed off, reminding them of their former packmate, now caught up in the Alpha King's manipulative scheme.
Angela felt her chest constrict as she thought of Ronan's eyes, devoid of life. "Quietly, she asked, 'What does that imply for me?' despite having a sense of foreboding about the response."
Love. He is aiming for you. And in case he reaches you before we manage to solve this...
He left the sentence unfinished, but it was unnecessary. The unspoken words' weight descended on her like a chill blanket.
Angela shut her eyes briefly, attempting to comprehend the fresh information. Other people resemble her. The Alpha King was relentlessly tracking them, capturing them or subjecting them to even harsher fates. She had always been aware of the danger she was in, but the involvement of others, innocent wolves being exploited or harmed, intensified her fear.
Devin 's voice shattered the quietness. If that statement is accurate, we must act quickly. We are unable to remain in this location.
Kael gave a nod of agreement. "Consent given." However, there is additional information. The soldiers of the Alpha King are not only coming for you. They are getting closer to another wolf that I have been following. She is close by, and we are running out of time.
Angela 's heart rate increased. "Who is that woman?"
Kael spoke softly, mentioning a wolf called Mira. Although she is young, she possesses great strength. The Alpha King desires her due to her link to the magic that you also possess. She might be facing greater risk than you are at this moment.
Angela 's thoughts were speeding. Another wolf, similar to her, trapped in the same convoluted scheme. A strange combination of fear and responsibility began to grow within her. Although she was unfamiliar with Mira, she refused to allow another person to endure the Alpha King's cruelty. She didn't proceed knowing the full consequences.
"We must locate her," Angela stated calmly, despite the storm of emotions within her. "We must ensure he doesn't reach her before us."
Devin scowled, his gaze moving across the shadowy woods surrounding them. Angela , it is too dangerous. You're just starting to get over the previous argument, and we're not sure what we're getting ourselves into.
Angela nodded firmly, with her decision already determined. Devin , safe plans are not something we have time for. If the soldiers of the Alpha King are getting closer to her, we must act quickly. If he desires me, I can't just stand back and watch someone else end up with him.
Kael's demeanor became gentler, revealing his admiration for her choice through his eyes. She is correct. If we delay, we will miss her."
Devin remained silent momentarily, his jaw clenching as he considered the choices. Angela noticed the hesitance in his gaze, the protective urge that had compelled him to remain with her, ensuring her safety even when she expressed no desire for it. But now, it wasn't only concerning her.
At last, Devin let out a sigh, feeling a slight relaxation in his shoulders. Okay. However, we do this intelligently. We don't act hastily without knowing what we're doing.
Angela nodded, feeling relieved yet still tense. "Accepted."
Kael looked back and forth between them, his gaze returning to the forest, where the shadows appeared to grow darker. She is close by. Not far from here, perhaps even closer. If we hurry, we can reach her before they do.
Angela paused to take a deep breath, concentrating on the upcoming task. The fear of encountering another conflict shortly after just barely making it through the previous one made her nervous, yet she managed to suppress it. There was no time to hesitate anymore.
Kael took the lead as they started making their way through the trees, with Devin following closely behind. The forest was tightly packed with trees, the darkness was heavy, yet Angela was attentive, noticing every sound and change in the wind. She sensed the heaviness of the unfamiliar looming close by, the threat hiding just out of view.
The narrow path meandered through dense trees and tangled vegetation. Angela felt her heart racing inside her chest, breathing calmly but shallowly as they advanced. Each step became more burdensome as the feeling of needing to act quickly intensified with every moment that went by.
Approaching the edge of a small open area, Kael slowed down and signaled for them to stop by raising his hand. Angela felt her heart racing as she followed his guidance, scanning the clearing in front of her.
In the middle of the open space, there was a slender person with lengthy, black hair, standing with a stiff and watchful stance. Mira was the only option.
However, they had company.
Opposite her, three silhouettes appeared from the darkness, wearing black cloaks, with their eyes softly shining in the dim light. The soldiers of the King Alpha.
Angela 's breath got stuck in her throat. They needed to take action quickly.
"We must not allow them to to take her," she murmured, her voice barely perceptible.
Devin gave a nod with his gun prepared in his hand. Kael's muscles tightened as he fixed his gaze on the unfolding scene ahead of him.
Kael whispered quietly, speaking in a low voice, "Wait for my signal." "We are relocating."
Angela took a deep breath, her hand squeezing the knife firmly.
Suddenly, the tension dissipated.
Upon Kael's signal, they began to move.
