Angela 's perspective.
Once Kael signaled, Angela immediately moved, relying on her instincts. She quickly moved ahead, holding a knife, her gaze fixed on the approaching soldiers near Mira. There was now no hesitation. There was nothing she could do except battle.
Devin positioned himself next to her, holding his gun up. He shot his gun, and the noise echoed like thunder in the air. Instantly, one of the soldiers collapsed to the ground, making no noise. However, two more remained and were nearing quickly.
Mira remained motionless at the heart of the clearing, her black hair twisting in the breeze while she gazed at the oncoming threat. She displayed fear in her eyes, yet she stayed put. She was unable to. She found herself stuck in the moment, not knowing how to proceed.
"Go lower!" As she hurried forward, Angela yelled and closed the distance between them.
Mira turned her head quickly when she heard Angela 's voice, but she remained still, her body frozen in fear. Angela arrived just in time to stop one of the soldiers, who was trying to attack Mira by lunging with claws outstretched towards her throat.
Angela crouched down, leveraging her speed to plunge her knife into the soldier's side. The soldier collapsed, wheezing in pain as blood gathered around him after the blade landed on its target.
Devin skillfully fired another shot, eliminating the second soldier with lethal accuracy. The only sound in the clearing was the uneven breathing of Angela , Devin , Kael, and Mira. The soldiers were surrounded by scattered bodies.
Angela looked at Mira, who remained motionless, staring wide-eyed at the corpses below.
"It's fine," Angela reassured, her tone gentle after putting away her knife. You are secure. "At the moment."
Mira blinked, taking quick, shallow breaths. "Who... who is it that you are?"
"I am Angela ," she stated, moving nearer. "This is Kael and Devin ." "We arrived to offer assistance."
Mira looked back and forth at them, with confusion and fear in her eyes. She appeared youthful, too young to be involved in something so perilous. Angela sensed the burden of the responsibility bearing down on her. They managed to rescue her temporarily, but the situation was not finished yet.
Kael moved ahead with a serious look on his face. We must relocate. The soldiers of the Alpha King will inform him shortly. Time is running out.
Mira appeared ready to object, but her body drooped with weariness, as if all the adrenaline had left her in an instant. Her hands trembled as she slowly nodded, pushing her hair away from her face.
Angela gently placed her hand on Mira's shoulder in an attempt to provide Peace . "We will provide a full explanation later, but for now, it is essential that we relocate you to a secure location."
Devin scanned the clearing, his jaw clenched. "We must leave this place." The King is not going to overlook this.
Angela noticed the tension in Devin 's face, the burden of the peril they were always trying to escape from. She was aware that he was correct. They were constantly lagging behind, always narrowly evading any trap set by the Alpha King. However, with Mira added to the situation, things had gotten even more intricate.
"We're familiar with a location," Kael stated confidently. "It's concealed, and they will not locate us there. We will come together again and determine our next step.
Angela gave a nod, despite feeling unsettled by the uncertainty. Each stride they made seemed to be prolonging the inevitable face-off. However, at the moment, they needed to continue moving forward.
Kael took the lead, Mira staying near Angela as they ventured further into the forest. The narrow, winding path was surrounded by trees, amplifying the tension as the quietness of the night prevailed. Each sound seemed louder than usual - a twig snapping, leaves rustling - all serving as a stark reminder of the imminent danger.
After what seemed like hours of trekking, they eventually reached a cozy, vacant cabin hidden in a thick section of the woods. The aged wooden building seemed rundown due to years of abandonment, yet its concealment could offer them the necessary protection.
Kael pushed the door open, and entered with the others. The inside was dimly lit by the faint moonlight coming through the shattered windows. Angela sensed the chill spreading through the room, but they were secure for now.
Mira collapsed onto a shabby chair, trembling as she hugged herself tightly. "What is this object?" Why do they want to catch me?
Angela crouched down next to her, speaking in a gentle yet resolute tone. "Since you are similar to me." Inside of you lies a potent force that the Alpha King desires to dominate. We won't allow him to take you.
Confusion and fear filled Mira's eyes. "I am unable to comprehend." I have never experienced anything similar before.
Angela confessed that she didn't either, initially, feeling uncertain in her heart. However, it exists. "And he is aware of it."
Devin stood by the wall, observing the conversation, yet his gaze remained vigilant as if anticipating a potential mishap. He stated that they would resolve the issue. However, we cannot linger here for an extended period of time. A plan is necessary.
Kael moved ahead, folding his arms. "We have access to an ancient blood promise we can utilize." It is risky, but it could be the only opportunity we have to keep her safe- and you.
Angela 's brow furrowed as she quickly looked at Kael. "A solemn pledge made using blood?" "Do you intend to say...?"
Kael gave a nod of agreement. "It is a ritual that has been practiced for many years." It connects the sorcery in your blood to a restraining power, making it extremely difficult for anyone—even the Alpha King—to dominate it. However, there are risks involved.
Angela felt her heart pounding in her chest. Blood oaths were familiar to her, yet infrequent, risky, and permanent. The magic they employed was erratic, and once the connection was established, it was irrevocable.
"If it is successful," Kael went on, "it will break the control the Alpha King has over both of you." He will be unable to follow you or manipulate your abilities to harm you.
Devin scowled, pushing away from the wall. "What happens if it fails?"
Kael's eyes darkened. "Next, the magic might separate them."
The room was filled with a profound silence. Angela felt a constriction in her chest as she considered the choices before her. It was a risky move, one with high stakes, but time was running out. She sensed the looming presence of the Alpha King drawing nearer, resembling a creeping dark shadow.
Mira's voice, though shaky, was resolute in breaking the silence. "I will take care of it." I am willing to take a risk if it means preventing him from doing something.
Angela felt her heart tighten. She respected Mira's courage, yet the gravity of their impending actions was almost too much to bear. This blood oath was more than just a enchantment - it was a lasting connection, a giving up of something profound and strong.
Angela inhaled deeply, locking eyes with Kael. "I will also do it."
Devin quickly glanced at her, a look of worry passing over his features. Angela , there's no need for you to—
"I agree," she interrupted him, her voice firm. "If we must do this to prevent him, then we must attempt it."
Kael nodded solemnly, emphasizing the importance of preparing before moonrise as time is running out.
While Kael started gathering the supplies for the ritual, Angela stood in the center of the room with her thoughts racing. This was the conclusion. The choice she never expected to have to make. Taking the blood oath would not only restrict her magic, but it would also have a permanent impact on her.
Glancing at Mira, she saw a blend of fear and hope in her eyes. They were now partners in this, connected by a mysterious force they couldn't comprehend.
Devin moved nearer, speaking softly. "Are you certain of this?"
Angela agreed with a calm heart. "It is the sole option."
As the moon started to ascend, sending its faint beams through the shattered windows, the seriousness of the upcoming event descended upon everyone.
There was no going back at this point.
