Taking out his gleaming, gold-reflecting bank card under the sun, Ye Feng walked to the nearest ATM and promptly withdrew ten thousand Huabi. Standing at the entrance of the mobile store, he called out, "Who wants to trade me 2,999 one-yuan bills for this six-thousand lump sum?"
Ye Feng's proclamation caught the attention of the passersby, who stared at him with incredulous expressions, silently thinking, "Whose spoiled rich kid is this, throwing around six thousand like it's nothing?"
Not long after, a middle-aged man rode up on a motorbike, holding a large sack in hand. "Young man, I've got the 2,999 one-yuan bills for you. Don't go back on your word!"
Ye Feng saw the man's bag, chuckled mischievously, and thought, "Didn't think I had money? Well, let's see about that." Instantly, a wealthy aura radiated from Ye Feng.
"Don't worry; you'll get every bit of your six thousand. Just follow me inside," Ye Feng said, swaggering into the mobile store with the man following closely behind.
"What's this kid doing back here again? Got no money, and still wasting people's time," the saleswoman named Sister Zhou scoffed upon seeing him.
Ignoring her, Ye Feng took the bag from the man, tossed it onto the counter in front of her, and said, "Here are your 2,999 bills. Go ahead, count them." He then smiled at the younger salesgirl, Xiao Ye, and said, "Bring the phone over, and set me up with a new plan. Use the change to cover my bill."
Sister Zhou stared in shock at the sea of one-yuan bills scattered before her. Begrudgingly, she and the other staff began counting. Ye Feng didn't mind waiting; he'd just arrived in Beihai City, had nowhere else to go, and was glad to pass the time.
Watching Sister Zhou and her colleagues painstakingly counting every bill, he couldn't help but feel a wave of satisfaction. "This must be what they call 'the wicked pleasures of the wealthy,'" he thought.
About half an hour later, Sister Zhou wiped the sweat from her brow, handed over a single one-yuan bill, and said, "All done, sir. Three thousand yuan in total, here's the extra."
Ye Feng glanced at the middle-aged man, who seemed equally taken aback, then shrugged and said, "Guess I must have miscounted. Three thousand it is, I'm not losing out either way."
Ye Feng handed the six thousand Huabi to the man, then turned to Sister Zhou and, with the utmost shamelessness, said, "Looks like counting was quite a task for you. Take this extra one-yuan bill as a tip—buy yourself a drink. Watching you work so hard almost made me feel bad."
Sister Zhou's heart sank; if she'd known he was truly loaded, she wouldn't have looked down on him.
After getting his new iPhone 6P and settling his phone plan, Ye Feng strolled leisurely out of the store. Now that he had a phone, his next concern was accommodation. As wealthy as he was, staying in a hotel every night was wasteful. It was better to have his own place.
Arriving at a real estate agency, Ye Feng was greeted by a polite salesgirl. "Good day, sir. Looking for a property?"
"Yes, I'd like something close to Beihai City No. 1 High School," Ye Feng replied with a smile, abandoning his earlier arrogance.
The salesgirl, surprised by Ye Feng's courteous demeanor, explained, "We have properties near the school, but they're pricey since it's a school district. Do you have a specific type in mind?"
"Please show me what's available," he replied with poise.
The salesgirl, noting his "if it's good, I'll buy it" attitude, beamed and led him to a selection of options. "We offer villas, apartments, and small houses. Which would you prefer?"
Discovering that there were villas nearby, Ye Feng chose one. Arriving at a luxurious villa close to the school, the salesgirl asked, "Are you satisfied with this one, sir?"
"It's perfect," Ye Feng nodded. "Let's go back and sign the papers."
"Sir, you haven't even asked about the price yet. Are you sure?" The salesgirl's concern was genuine; she worried he might regret such a hasty decision. But Ye Feng assured her, "Money's not an issue. Comfort is all that matters."
Dumbfounded by his nonchalance, the salesgirl thought, "Only someone truly wealthy could say that."
Back at the agency, she prepared the contract. The bolded line "Price: 15 million" didn't even make Ye Feng blink. He selected the full payment option and handed the signed contract back to her.
With everything arranged, he returned to his villa, grateful it came fully furnished. Settling into the sofa, he murmured, "It must've been two hours by now. Let's see if the system upgrade is done."
