Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 The curse of Carnage

Victor Carnage!,

These two sinister words rang out ominously in the air.

The surrounding temperature seemed to drop to tremendous levels and a dark fog was slowly clouding the surrounding air accompanied by a boiling mass of black smoke that steamed from the young boy's body.

The Shadow warriors were staring at the dark haired boy with caution, all of them, armed and vigilant, very wary and reluctant to attack the child fiend and only waited on the standby for orders from their superiors on what to do.

From the back of the Shadow Warriors the two generals stood in apprehension as they stared at the boy.

After they heard the words Victor Carnage they were suddenly reminded of a certain documented story of ancient records that they saw back at the temple's library.

The story was about a great man of noble birth back in the age of Dawn.

The man was born in the royal family of the Tempest clan as a second born son and was given the royal name Vlad, a name given to great warriors.

Back then the world was infested with dark creatures just like this modern age and the kingdom of Wallachian which was ruled by the Tempest family at that time was at the strategic point of defending against these horrors.

After years of fighting against these creatures, the Tempest family was waning and loosing its military strength and it was only a matter of time before it perished under the onslaught of the fallens.

When that day came the king of Wallachia who was Vlad's father, suddenly perished in battle against the fallens with a half of his army. At this point the kingdom was robbed of its strength, all soldiers were terrified and had lost their morale.

Vlad's older brother who was the rightful heir of the throne at that time then ascended the royal seat becoming the thirteenth king of Wallachia.

The moment he become the king the young Tempest defected the kingdom with the remaining half of the army to seek refuge on other kingdoms with the rest of his family.

On this day the entire family of the Tempest Clan be it the king , the first born child or the last born, both princes and princesses were all escorted outside the kingdom guarded by the kingdom's forces, leaving their vassals vulnerable to the fallens.

But before they left only one member of the royal family refused to abonden the kingdom and its vassals.

This person was Vlad Tempest, the younger brother of the king and also a warrior champion of the great Wallachian army.

Vlad Tempest a Wallachian knight of the royal family firmly stood valiantly against the cowardness of his older brother.

He refused to abonden the kingdom and break the honor of his dead father, he even tried to persuade his older brother in staying at the kingdom's defense.

But in the end all of his words fell on deaf ears, his brother, the king mercilessly left him and the kingdom he so loved to die under the ruthless and vileness of the corrupted fiends.

Left with no army and a large kingdom to protect, Vlad was left with no choice but to make use of his resources.

Since his brother left the kingdom with the best knights of the Wallachian army, Vlad could only attempt to make soldiers out of the farmers and peasants of Wallachia.

Lucky for him, he was well knowledgeable when it came to art of combat, especially when it was training new soldiers.

Years of serving the Wallachian army had tempered Vlad with enough knowledge and experience to train newbies at the art of combat.

Making use of his resources, the young prince of Wallachia was able to successfully transform weak boys to men and was able to turn helpless men into fierce warriors. He was even able to turn noble woman into great warriors that would put the most venered knights to shame.

In the end Vlad was able to transform the entire population of fifty thousand Wallachians into brave soldiers who had a impressive mastering of combat.

The day when the fallens broke through the stronghold of Wallachia eventually came, the citizens of Wallachia bravely defended their kingdom with their lives on the line, Vlad was no exception.

But even so, despite having a large army of soldiers that was larger than the previous whole Wallachian army that served the kingdom during his father's time, it was still not enough.

Although the warriors were well trained by a veteran warrior and led by the best Wallachian general of the royal army who had a tons of achievements in his wake and experience to prove, it was still not enough.

These new warriors were still new to the horrifying experience of war, especially against the harrowing fiends of corruption.

No matter how well they mastered their weapons, these warriors were still a far cry away from the experienced veteran soldiers of the royal army.

And in the face of death these warriors were overwhelmed by fear and did not hesitate in retreating.

Regardless Vlad was well aware of this weakness that threatened his warriors, if he didnt then he wouldn't have earned the title of a general.

He went to battle with a back up plan, that he would use as last resort and only when the tide of the war was beginning to shift from their side.

Entering into the battle with the fallens, the moment that Vlad dreaded eventually came.

Covered in blood of both his and his slain enemies, the second prince of Tempest clan shared tears of blood upon seeing his vassals being massacred.

Left with no choice Vlad could only resort to his last option, a choice he would have rather avoided if necessary.

He made a deal with the enemy or in his case, the devil. After all as the saying goes the only way to outsmart a devil is by becoming a devil yourself.

Seeking out the most harrowing creature of the land that was famed for its wicked deeds, the second prince sold his soul in exchange for great strength.

After selling his soul, the young prince of Tempest was granted with great and immeasurable strength that was hard to comprehend for a mortal.

A potent corruption possessed his soul, altering his physical appearance and attributes in the process.

After being claimed by the devil the kind prince was no more, in his stead was a vile abomination of tremendous power.

The abomination was merciless in its methods and wherever it laid its eyes on, a massacre would unfold.

Exactly in the year 435 during dawn, the vassals of Wallachian saw a single man, single handedly defend the kingdom from an entire contigence of thousand fallens.

Those who thought they would die had their hopes conflagrated again.

Thousands of people both old and young shared tears of joy at their knight in blood armor.

Alas unlike other great stories, this one did not end in happy ever after.

After all great power comes with terrifying consequences.

After defeating the fallens the harrowing abomination was done with its ruthless massacre. The creature turned its mad sights on the citizens of wallachia who were celebrating the victory of their leader. And setting its sights on them, a carnage then descended on the people of Wallachia.

After killing about half of the people of Wallachia, the abomination then infested the remaining half with the power of corruption, turning them into fallens.

After recalling this story, Raven Morris, the general of the Shadow guard and also a saint of Night was suddenly filled with dread.

Behind him, deputy general of the Shadow guard, Genrick Stark was also filled with trepidation.

Both saints of Night had suddenly realized the danger they were in.

Arching his eyebrows, Raven Morriss panickly voiced out a command to his troops.

"All warriors retreat behind me now!

The shadow warriors did not second guess their leader's command.

They vanished instantly from they spots and reappeared from the shadows of their leaders.

The young boy stared curiously at the scene, the end corners of his mouth suddenly curled upward turning into an amusing smile and he then released the ancient and magnificent voice from earlier, which was very unfitting for a boy at his age.

"Running away is a futile attempt, your only hope is to pledge your allegiance to me and submit your wills to my power"

Contrary to what the boy or creature would have expected, the humans did not seem to cower at his domineering voice nor did they try to flee from his menacing sight that would have even gave pause to the most harrowing fiends of the land. Instead one of the warriors at the front who was donning a well crafted silver armour had even smiled back at the harrowing abomination.

"Oh should we now? Well if that's the case then l believe we are going to have a problem, because you see me and my subordinates have quite a big problem, the problem is that we are bad at being loyal, like literally no ruler in their right mind would try or attempt to take us under his wing, the result will always be the same, we end up killing the bastard".

The smile on the young boy's face widened at this point picturing the scene with an eerie atmosphere.

Feigning surprise the boy said,

"Is that so..?

At this point general Raven Morris began to nod continuously but contrary to what he expected the dark skinned boy then released some surprising words.

"Then l guess its a good thing that l am not in my right mind then"

"???"

The two generals were completely stunned upon hearing this.

At this moment, behind the pale skinned boy, a black shadow suddenly formed. The shadow was humanoid in its form, its features were unclear due to the distance between the two generals and it. Without any warning, the shadow suddenly launged at the dark haired boy.

Under the dim light of the sun, a dark saber moved with incredible speed towards Victor's head.

Victor himself didn't seem to notice this sudden attack, since he remained motionless and smiling towards the two generals of the Night's temple.

The two generals were impassive, as they stared at the young boy. On general Morris' face one could see a subtle smile that formed for a moment before instantly vanishing.

Just when it appeared like Victor was about to loose his head, from the swirling fog a burly silhouette suddenly moved, quickly impeding the shadow figure that was trying to attack the dark haired boy

At the moment of the impact the burly silhouette suddenly raised its long limps.

The arm clashed with the sword sending a loud ripple to spread out through the air.

The shadow figure was then sent flying through the air, its sword was split into half, with the top half of the blade left behind stuck on the ground.
