__________
In a high-rise apartment in New York, Jason stepped out of the bathroom, still damp and wrapped in a gray bathrobe. Holding a glass of whiskey, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, admiring the night view of Manhattan from above.
The towering office buildings were brightly lit, roads crowded with cars, and laughter of passersby filled the air.
What a prosperous and lively scene.
On a large screen in the square below, a news anchor in a blue and white striped suit was passionately reading a report.
"According to insiders, the military is planning to purchase the Jericho missile, the latest cutting-edge weapon developed by Stark Industries..."
Jericho Missile?
Jason downed the whiskey in one gulp, trying desperately to recall his past memories.
Wasn't there a Stark Industries executive who played the villain in a movie? What was his name?
It had been so long that he'd almost forgotten all the memories from his previous life.
Jason Walter was born on October 15, 1981, in the slums of Hell's Kitchen, West Midtown Manhattan, New York.
His father was a low-level gang member in Hell's Kitchen, his mother a salesperson at a nearby convenience store, and he was the only child.
Growing up, Jason's memories were filled with gangs, guns, and violence because of his father. This upbringing led to a strange personality, and he never fit in with the other kids around him.
His family's life was impoverished, so to survive, he started stealing on the streets at the age of eight. By ten, he was extorting classmates, and at twelve, he was robbing lone passersby with a 9mm pistol.
At thirteen, his parents were killed in a gang fight. From then on, he spiraled out of control, eventually landing in juvenile detention for assault.
After being released at seventeen, Jason joined a small gang in Hell's Kitchen. With the skills he'd learned in detention, he quickly rose through the ranks.
Not long after, the fledgling Kingpin extended an olive branch to him. Jason gladly accepted, becoming Kingpin's ace fighter.
Over the next ten years, Jason climbed up the ranks through sheer daring and relentless fighting, eventually becoming Kingpin's right-hand man.
With a car, a house, savings, good looks, and hundreds of loyal fighters, Jason, now only 27, had finally become a "winner" in life.
However…
Jason glanced back at the big screen in the square, where Tony Stark, with his signature mustache, was making the female reporter interviewing him look visibly flustered. A sense of exhaustion and helplessness washed over him.
In just a year, the world would change, heroes and villains emerging everywhere.
Earth would become a main battleground for cosmic wars, with powerful beings descending to display their strength whenever they pleased.
Even as Kingpin's right-hand man, Jason knew that in the eyes of those cosmic gods, he was nothing but an ant.
With that realization, Jason's future seemed bleak.
[Ding! You slept with Kingpin's girlfriend and gained 20 villain points!]
"What?"
A translucent screen suddenly appeared before him, making Jason frown.
This is the damn system he've been waiting for his whole life?
After a moment of shock, he turned to glance at the large, solid wooden bed a few steps away.
An elegant woman lay there, sleeping soundly, a contented smile on her face. The disarray on the bed was proof of their recent "activity."
Her name was Vanessa, Kingpin's girlfriend.
Who was Kingpin?
Jason's immediate boss.
A terrifyingly strong man who could punch through concrete walls with ease.
A crime lord with hundreds of hardened criminals under his command.
The underground king who controlled New York's illegal businesses.
Vanessa was Kingpin's only woman, cherished above all else. Anyone who so much as whistled at her would be found in a trash can by morning.
Jason understood how important Vanessa was to Kingpin, which is why even he thought this whole situation was insane.
A few days ago, Kingpin had encountered trouble with his operations in Los Angeles, forcing him to leave New York in a hurry.
Before leaving, he'd worried that Vanessa might be in danger, given the number of enemies he had. So, he'd asked his trusted confidant, Jason, to guard her.
Though Jason would've preferred to handle things in Los Angeles himself, he couldn't refuse Kingpin's orders, so he stayed to protect Vanessa.
Fueled by his resentment, Jason kept a distance from her, barely speaking or acknowledging her.
But strangely, his indifference seemed to captivate Vanessa.
She began chatting with him, trying to get closer. Before long, they were dining at restaurants, shopping on Fifth Avenue, and visiting art galleries together.
And then…
[Ding! Mission completed. The Big Villain System is now officially activated!]
The translucent screen flickered, pulling Jason back to reality.

The store was filled with various abilities. Jason was still browsing when the Nokia in his pocket suddenly rang.
The caller ID read… Kingpin!
Jason's skin prickled with goosebumps.
This was bad.
Had Kingpin found out?
No, it's impossible. he've kept this hidden too well for him to know.
"Stay calm. Don't lose your cool."
"Mmm…"
Vanessa stirred slightly at the sound.
Jason didn't have time to admire her. Covering the phone's speaker, he stepped out of the room and answered, "Boss."
"Jason." A familiar, rough voice replied.
Jason swallowed, "Yes, Boss?"
Kingpin: "…"
"Everything's normal in New York. The cooperation with Mrs. Gao is going smoothly."
Kingpin: "…"
A feeling of dread started creeping up on Jason, "Did something happen in Los Angeles, Boss?"
Kingpin, "Tell me, Jason, what was it like to sleep with Vanessa?"
Jason froze, his scalp tingling, face stiffening, and cold sweat trickling down his back.
After a long pause, he forced a laugh, "Boss, you're joking, right? Everyone in New York's underworld knows that Vanessa's your woman. I wouldn't dare even if I had ten lives."
"Oh, really?" Kingpin's voice was dangerously calm, "Then why did you and Vanessa have a candlelight dinner at a British restaurant three nights after I left?"
"On the fourth day, you went shopping on Fifth Avenue and visited an art gallery together."
"And on the fifth day, you went to her place, cooked her dinner, and gave her her favorite chocolates afterward."
Kingpin's words were measured, but each sentence sent Jason's pulse racing.
He swore he'd told no one about his affair with Vanessa.
He'd been careful, disguising himself, paying cash, even taking taxis instead of his own car.
But somehow, Kingpin knew.
Jason's hand clenched tight, heartbeat pounding in his ears.
"Today, you and Vanessa spent the entire afternoon in her apartment. So tell me, Jason, what was it like?"
When Kingpin finished, the weight pressing down on Jason lifted, replaced by a fierce clarity.
Years of loyalty meant nothing now; there was only one path left.
"Hahaha!" Jason laughed into the phone, his laughter hollow and reckless.
"You really want to know, Kingpin?" His laughter subsided as he spoke into the phone with a low whisper, "It was… fantastic."
Boom!
