Chapter 11 - Mission Levels

"This mission is at the bronze level. Since Lord Limon has eradicated far more undead than anticipated, the client bestowed upon him an 'excellent' appraisal. This mission shall thus be accorded adventure points as if it were a silver-level mission, and the recompense augmented by ten percent."

As she articulated, Lalasha recommenced recording within the tome.

Whilst inscribing, Lalasha expounded, "The bounty for vanquishing each undead is five silver coins. A sum total of 368 undead were dispatched, amounting to 184 gold coins. Given the client's 'excellent' evaluation, in accordance with the statutes, the reward shall be incremented by ten percent. Let us round it off to an even figure, namely 200 gold coins. Verily, you have acquitted yourself admirably this time, and I shall thus award you 300 adventure points."

"You are a fledgling adventurer, and hence might not be overly cognizant of the mission gradations."

Lalasha persisted in her recording and elucidated, "There exist seven tiers of adventure points, namely 500, 5,000, 500,000, 500,000, 5 million, 50 million, and 500 million, corresponding respectively to the mission levels of bronze, black iron, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and legendary. The rationale behind the classification of missions into diverse levels is due to the disparate strengths of professionals. Only through recurrent adventures can they ascertain their own puissance. As they amass greater experience and augment their might, they may undertake more perilous missions, thereby effectively curtailing the casualties among adventurers."

When her voice subsided, Lalasha also concluded her recording.

She extended her hand and retrieved a card with verdant borders from beneath the counter, imprinting it upon the tome.

"Here, this is a savings card. It harbors your assets and particulars. You may avail yourself of it in any adventurer's guild, or withdraw funds from vaults in sundry nations. Press your fingerprint, preferably that of your thumb. In this manner, only you shall be able to utilize this savings card. Even if it were lost, it would prove futile to others. Should any attempt be made to employ it forcibly, it would incinerate itself."

Is this not akin to a bank card...

Gazing upon the savings card reposing on the counter, Limon mused inwardly.

It was indeed curious that such an advanced contrivance could exist within a realm of magic.

Strange though it was, Limon still duteously pressed his thumb upon the savings card.

When his thumb made contact, Limon could sense the ebb and flow of magic within the savings card, and it swiftly stabilized.

Perceiving Limon's compliance, Lalasa waved her hand and declared, "Very well, this savings card is now yours. Each adventurer represents a valuable asset to Arizela. Do not merely fixate on amassing wealth but also recollect to partake in its expenditure."

As if a thought had suddenly occurred to her, Lalasa hastened to add, "By the way, there is one matter I have yet to apprise you of. Do you espy those two panels yonder? One is the task board, and the other is the notice board. The task board shall be refreshed daily with a plenitude of novel task cards spanning all levels. However, it is advisable not to undertake tasks that overreach your adventure points, for should you fail, threefold the adventure points of the original task shall be deducted. Do not underestimate the significance of adventure points, as they are intertwined with an adventurer's standing in Arizela. The loftier the adventure points, the greater the trust and esteem accorded, and the more convenient it shall be for you to ingress and egress certain locales. Should you experience multiple failures and yet imprudently embrace high-level tasks, the Adventurer's Guild shall peremptorily decline to dispense any tasks unto you."

"As for the bulletin board... it is intended for mercenary bands and hunting parties. Although it adheres to the same mission level schema as that of the adventurer's, we shall cull the missions befitting mercenary groups and hunting teams. After all, the majority of mercenaries are commonfolk. They are only suited to obliterating some feeble monsters that have proliferated inordinately. The hunting team, for their part, their principal quarry consists merely of wild beasts, with the objective of procuring hides and flesh and furnishing them to the merchants in need thereof."

After this litany of words, Lalasa inhaled deeply in an endearing fashion.

"Very well, you ought to retire and take your repose. Do you perceive that counter over there? Standing behind it is Lala Aaron, who is entrusted with the Adventurer Guild Hotel Service. After resting, seek out a team with all due haste. You are a warlock. Absent the safeguard of a melee vocation, you shall find yourself in a parlous state. Although professionals possess puissance, they also stand in need of the protection of their comrades. An exemplary team can propel you to great lengths upon the path of adventuring until you ascend to the status of a hero venerated by multitudes and lauded by the world."

After stowing away the savings card, Limon nodded in acknowledgment to Lalasa and then took his leave.

Limon harbored a favorable impression of this diminutive Lalasa.

As the president of the Adventurer's Guild, she had incontrovertibly discharged her duties and steered the novice adventurers towards the acquisition of essential knowledge.

Perhaps due to their race, anyone could coexist amicably with her.

It was still early, and Limon had no intention of languishing in his chamber throughout the day.

Although he had been engaged in the mission of eradicating the undead the previous night, Limon had rested well and was presently in a sanguine state of mind.

After departing from the Adventurer's Guild, Limon made a beeline for the Dudu Bird Stable ensconced within the alley.

"Your Excellency is truly assiduous. Here, this is your Dudu Bird, the selfsame one as before."

Limon had only recently returned, and the youth in the bird stable could scarcely forget him.

He was mightily astonished at Limon's industry.

After tendering the deposit to the youth, Limon vaulted astride the Dudu Bird and with consummate skill, guided the creature to trot out onto the thoroughfare.

Behind him stood the youth, his gaze fixed upon Limon's receding figure.

Upon the bustling street, Limon rode the Dudu Bird at a measured pace.

Clutching the atlas bestowed upon him by Lalasa in his hand, Limon perused the map of Arizela.

The east gate lay to the right, the north gate loomed ahead, and the port was situated to the left.

Arizela was of a considerable expanse. The area circumscribed by the city wall alone spanned no less than 15 kilometers from south to north.

Owing to the uneven terrain, the city inclined westward in an irregular oval configuration, with the south and north being the most elongated, and the east and west of secondary length. The edifices ascended in height as one progressed inland, with the terrain descending.

Limon was presently positioned on the southeastern periphery of Arizela. Were one to ascend to the rooftop of a building flanking the street, one ought to be able to descry the sea in the west.

The regional layout of Arizela City was also highly captivating. It was configured in a circular pattern, with a total of three ring roads encircling the entire city.

The outermost ring roads were of greater length, and the intervals between each ring road also varied substantially.

They were the Third Ring Road on the city's outer fringe, trailed by the Second Ring Road, and the First Ring Road was nestled in the heart of the city, encircling the palace. From the First Ring Road, three straight thoroughfares extended, connecting the city gates in diverse directions, namely the East City Avenue, the North City Avenue, and the South City Avenue.

Ariza had evinced great meticulousness in urban planning, and the entire city presented a rather comely aspect.

Although it was situated within the desert, the overall hue inclined towards a pale ivory.
