Chapter 31 - The Dark Side of the Belly

"How is this possible!"

If it weren't for Hayes Colton's good mental resilience, he would have fainted at this point. just like Hayes madam next to him.

But even so, Hayes Colton's legs couldn't help but tremble, and even his eyes became empty.

Why did he come here to find James? Wasn't this like turning on the light in the toilet to look for shit (death)!

"Damn it, you bitch!"

Hayes Colton kicked Hayes Madam, waking her up from the pain.

"Wuwuwu!"

Seeing Hayes Colton hitting his mother, the little fat boy cried out.

Hayes Colton slapped the little fat boy, making him too scared to cry out.

After teaching his family a lesson, Hayes Colton looked at James timidly. He finally understood why James wanted to reason with him. Because if James didn't reason with him, he wouldn't even know how he died!

James's identity far surpassed him.

Who the hell told him that James was a son-in-law of the Smith family, and that stupid Smith family drove James out?

What were they thinking, not knowing to hold onto such a big thigh?

But now it was too late to say anything.

"Thump!"

Hayes Colton knelt directly on the ground, nervous and scared, making him lose the courage to speak to James.

"Hmph."

Director Max snorted coldly. This nouveau riche had been arrogant in Michigan for a long time, and had done a lot of bullying men and women. This time, he wanted to see what kind of ending this arrogant Hayes Colton would meet.

"Is this what you told me to do?" James face darkened as he looked at the family of three kneeling silently on the ground.

"I'm not satisfied with your instructions."

"If you're going to hit them, hit them harder. If you're going to make them kneel, make them kneel longer."

"One hundred slaps. You decide who to hit and how to hit them. If you don't finish one hundred slaps, if you dare to stand up, there will be no more Hayes family in Michigan."

With that, James ignored the family of three and walked over to Luke.

"Let's go."

James patted Luke's shoulder and they walked towards the school gate.

Once they got into the jeep, James's expression changed from slightly gloomy to smiling.

"Wasn't I handsome just now?"

"Very handsome!"

Luke nodded firmly. In the years without his father, he had never felt so relieved.

Every time his mother asked him why he had to fight with other kids, why he had such a bad temper, they would say a few words to you and you wouldn't listen.

There were many such words, but his mother would never tell him, "I'll take you back to fight."

Luke tilted his head and looked at James.

"But they're really stupid. They still think you're my dad."

Luke scratched his head. "But that's not right. My mom said my dad is very powerful, but they keep calling him a useless son-in-law. It's really unfair!"

"Right, unfair!" James laughed and rubbed Luke's head. Seeing Freya still lost in thought, he patted her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Huh?" Freya was startled and quickly shook her head. "Nothing, just thinking about nothing."

Xue Rou dared not turn her head, because she was surprised by James's actions just now. The military commander who was fearless on the battlefield and domineering in his speech actually had such a black-bellied and narcissistic side!

But which father wouldn't want to be a hero in their child's heart?

"If there's nothing else, let's go pick up Nita and take the two children out for some good food today. "

"Understood," Freya nodded vigorously and quickly started the car, afraid that James would continue to ask questions.

But she couldn't help but remember James's adorable appearance. When the coronation ceremony came, would he have a chance to talk to the generals under the military leader?

She wondered what expression Donald

and the others would have when they heard about it.

If Freya remembered correctly, Donald had once said that there was no man in the world more cool and ruthless than the military leader.

The car drove all the way and soon arrived at Nita's school. The teacher was waiting with Nita for James's arrival.

After Nita got in the car, James pinched her chubby cheeks.

"Nita, did you listen to your teacher in kindergarten?"

"Yes, the teacher said Nita is the most obedient child," Nita said proudly, standing with her hands on her hips and her head almost reaching the sky.

"Really? Then uncle will reward you," James let go of her and pointed to the most luxurious five-star hotel nearby. "Uncle will take you there for a big meal?"

"Yes"

"Okay!" Nita nodded excitedly, her eyes full of excitement. Luke scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Uncle, you don't have to be so extravagant."

They had agreed that he would repay James, but after these two days, it felt like James was repaying them instead.

The best education, the best living conditions, and even meticulous care...

Sometimes Luke wondered if this was what it was like to have a father.

"What's so luxurious about this?" James ignored Luke and hugged Nita tightly while Freya drove them to the hotel.

In the evening at seven o'clock, the two children were sitting on the sofa watching TV. James clumsily sorted out their homework, which was bigger than both of their heads combined. When Freya walked in, James waved at her.

"Freya, I happen to need your help. Can you check these two kids homework?"

"Nowadays, elementary school questions are a bit hard to understand."

It wasn't that James was uneducated, but he tended to overthink things and ended up in a misunderstanding.

"Sure."

Freya quickly scanned the homework and circled the problematic areas. When she was almost done, she looked up at James.

"Joseph, the family of the girl found in the coffin has been located."

"After DNA comparison, she was the daughter of a couple in the old alley. The girl's father was a temporary worker at a construction site in the south of the city, and the mother made a living by picking up garbage. Their hope in life was... their daughter."

"The girl was also very promising and had been admitted to the best university in Michigan. She is now in her senior year. The couple had been working day and night for years to pay for her tuition and living expenses, hoping that she would have a bright future. They thought they had finally made it..."

At this point, Freya's fists clenched uncontrollably, and even her eyes were bloodshot.

She had seen the couple's photos, and they were very simple and kind-looking people. Freya had also investigated and found that they had never done anything wrong in their lives. The girl was the same.

She knew her parents' expectations, so she studied very hard, hoping to make a name for herself.

But just before graduation, the Hill family incident happened.

"Damn it!"

James's eyes suddenly became fierce. He neatly put Luke's homework into his backpack and stood up with a murderous aura.

"Have you investigated the whole incident thoroughly, including who else was involved?"
