Chapter 14: Almost Messed Up
Laura POV
The doctor arrived and Granny made me sit beside her while the doctor examined me.
I was still feeling the headache and seeing Xavier's glare that was on me, the headache seems to have doubled.
The doctor finished his examination on me only to say there was nothing wrong with me. I could see that Granny was slightly disappointed, she really expected me to be"The fuçk did she just say? Pregnant??" I almost yelled. pregnant.
"So then what is wrong with her?" Granny asked the family doctor who nodded his head sideways slowly.
"It feels strange, I can't feel any sign of anything wrong with her, it could just be a slight headache, you don't have to worry about it" He said and I heaved a sigh.
I haven't been feeling this kind of headache before, it was only when i came to the mansion that I was having that absurd pain in my head.
Even with all the treatment I got in my parents home, even with all the abuse, I never got sick and sometimes, I ask myself why I just can't fall sick for once, maybe they will take pity on me then.
Granny dismissed the doctor and guilded me out of the room. I could feel Xavier glaring at me. Maybe he was feeling displeased with how things were turning out.
I got to the dining room with granny beside me and was amazed by the sight of the dishes on the table. The table was so long that it started from the end of the room and stopped at the end of the room.
I settled down and so did the others. I just hope I don't get to fuçk it up like I did back at Xavier's mansion. If I did, then Xavier is going to throw me out immediately.
I took my fork and the knife to start cutting the steak placed in front of me. I could see Xavier and Ariana's eyes on me.
I smiled at the plate and cut the steak flawlessly, sticking it into my mouth gently. Granny smiled seeing me eat so well.
"When will the both of you get engaged?" Granny asked and that made me cough. She offered me water even though one was in front of me.
I nodded a thank you and gulped the whole content of the cup and ended it with a smile.
Engagement?? Why am I surprised, if I am to act like his wife, we would at least get engaged.
"No Grandma, we already got engaged, let's just go straight to the wedding ceremony" Xavier said and that made me turn to him with shock.
He held my hand and dropped both on the table for all to see, he caressed it like a loving fiance.
Wedding? I was already having problems with engagement but he wants to go straight to the wedding??
"You got engaged?? When?? Where is the proposal ring?" Granny asked, already feeling suspicious of the two of us.
"Granny, they did it secretly, Laura doesn't like being the centre of attention so she didn't tell anyone" Ariana said and Xavier nodded.
She was right about that though, I don't like being the centre of attention because I've never been.
Granny didn't seem to buy that though, she still glared at me and Xavier with suspicious looks.
"He proposed with a bouquet of flowers instead of a ring," I said, flashing a smile at Granny.
"You know he's not that romantic" I added whispering that to Granny who laughed.
"You are right," She whispered back. Xavier and Ariana just stared wondering what I said to Granny that made her laugh.
"Anyways, don't worry about a thing, I would be preparing the wedding for you, you don't need to lift a finger" Granny said and I smiled.
I can't say if it's going to be real or not, I tend not to believe things until they happen.
"You! When are you going to return to college?? You think you will get any more shares from the company if you don't complete your schooling!!" Granny yelled and that got me frightened. Maybe she really is the craziest.
She was referring to Ariana, I can't seem to believe that Ariana is still going to college. Not that she's too old to be a college student but I just haven't thought of that.
If she goes to college, then one of my problems will be solved, I won't get to see her often, that would be cool! I have to make her go to college even if she declines Granny.
"Granny!!" She yelled back.
"I will go back to college if I want, don't think I care about your shares, I have enough already!" Ariana yelled again.
"I can take those shares of yours, if you aren't careful!!" Granny yelled again as I just watched. They are really one slightly crazy family. I wish I knew what Xavier and Ariana's parents were like or where they are now but I'm not allowed to ask about the past.
Soon after the meal ended. Granny took me to go take a walk with her in the garden.
She took Ariana too along while she talked to us about some things but Ariana being the crazy and stubborn person she is wasn't listening because she had a headset on. She was listening to music while I was listening to Granny.
Granny was actually talking with me, not Ariana so she didn't care.
Soon after, we left the Harrington estate for Xavier's mansion.
The ride back to the mansion was quiet and nobody talked.
Ariana was busy with her music all through while I was busy with my new phone checking out almost everything I can. I didn't keep my eyes on Xavier to know what he was doing.
We got into the mansion and Ariana walked upstairs, I wanted to follow behind her but Xavier dragged me back.
"You know you almost messed up the meeting with her?? Why would you act like a weakling in front of my Grandma!!" Xavier yelled and I scoffed.
"Did you just scoff??" He asked with a smirk.
