Victoria cornered me as soon as I reentered the penthouse. Her expression was unreadable, but her tone was sharp. "You called her."
"You called her," she said, her voice low but venomous.
"Of course I did," I replied, keeping my tone casual. The last thing I needed was to fan her flames. "You want results, don't you?"
"I want loyalty," she snapped, closing the distance between us in a heartbeat. Her fingers curled around my tie, yanking me closer. "And right now, you're making it very hard to believe that I have it."
I blinked, startled by the force of her grip. "Speedy's a wildcard, yes, but—"
"She's a liability," Victoria hissed, her breath warm against my face. "Do you have any idea what people are already saying? About you? About us?" Her tone dropped into something darker. "That you're playing both sides. That you're too soft on pretty little strays like her."
I couldn't help the smirk that tugged at my lips. "Jealous, Victoria?"
