"Too slow!" I taunted, hurling a bolt of lightning her way. The shadows absorbed it, but the force sent her staggering.
Her lips twisted into a snarl. "You're annoying."
"Aw, thanks!" I chirped, darting forward. My fist crackled with energy as I aimed for her midsection, but she dissolved into shadows before I could connect.
She reappeared behind me, her blade slicing through the air. I ducked, rolling to the side and launching another bolt. This time it struck home, sparks dancing along her form as she hissed in pain.
"You're quick, but you're reckless," she said, her voice laced with disdain. "That'll get you killed."
"Not today, love," I quipped, dodging another barrage of shadows. My heart pounded as the fight escalated, the tunnel filling with the crackle of electricity and the hiss of darkness.
But Raven wasn't trying to win. She couldn't. No, she was stalling.
